Stormy Weather is a 1943 American musical film produced and released by 20th Century Fox. The movie is one of the best Hollywood musicals produced in 1943 with African-American casts, the other being MGM's Cabin in the Sky, and is considered a primary showcasing some of the top African-American performers of the time, during an era when African-American actors and singers appearing rarely in lead roles in mainstream Hollywood productions, especially the ones of the musical genre.
Stormy Weather takes its title from the 1933 song of the same title, and is performed almost at the end of the film. It is based upon the life and times of its star, dancer Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Robinson plays "Bill Williamson," a talented born dancer who returns home in 1918 after fighting in World War I and tries to pursue a career as a performer. Along the way, he approaches a beautiful singer named Selina Rogers, played by Lena Horne in one of her few non-MGM film appearances (and one of only two films from the 1930s-40s in which Horne played a substantial role). The character of Selina was invented for the film; Robinson did not have such a romance in real life. Dooley Wilson co-stars as Bill's perpetually broke friend.

from my windowsill
You ain't, yeah, you ain't so clever
You got it all made up
But it feels like love, love, love
Oh yes, it feels like touch, touch, touch
I sit surround pass the time
I try to get it off my mind
And I live in a world oh so small
That I can get around it all
And it feels like love, love, love
Oh yes, it feels like touch, touch, touch
What did I say?
What did I say?
What did I say?
Oh, I didn't mean it
What did I do
Or take you?
Oh, I didn't mean it
Oh, oh, I didn't mean it!
I'm not saying it's all made up
It's people there, to comb your hair
And I'll sing that another song
Won't kill that, so beautiful
So it feels like love, love, love
Oh yes, it feels like touch, touch, touch
What did I say?
What did I say?
What did I say?
Oh, I didn't mean it
What did I do
Or take you?
What did I do?
Oh, I didn't mean it
Oh, oh, I didn't mean it!
And it feels like love, love, love,
Yes, it feels like touch, touch, touch... [x4]
