Vic (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈbik]) is the capital of the comarca of Osona, in the Barcelona Province, Catalonia, Spain. Vic's location, only 69 km far from Barcelona and 60 km from Girona, has made it one of the most important towns in central Catalonia.
Vic is of ancient origin. Vic, in past times, was called Ausa by the Romans. Iberian coins bearing this name have been found there. The Visigoths called it Ausona. Sewage caps on sidewalks around the city will also read "Vich," an old form of the name.
During the 8th and 9th centuries, Vic sat in the Spanish Marches that separated Frankish and Islamic forces. It was destroyed in 788 during a Muslim incursion. Afterwards only one quarter was rebuilt, which was called Vicus Ausonensis (vicus is Latin for city borough), from which the name Vic was derived. It was repopulated by Wilfred the Hairy in 878 who gained control over the high part of the city and gave up the lowest part to the bishop to construct the episcopal see. From then on, the city was ruled by the count of Barcelona and by the bishop of Vic.

Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton Wykeham Fiennes (
/ˈreɪf ˈfaɪnz/; born 22 December 1962) is an English theatre and film actor. A noted Shakespeare interpreter, he first achieved success onstage in the Royal National Theatre. Since then, he has portrayed characters such as Nazi war criminal Amon Goeth in Schindler's List, Count Almásy in The English Patient, and Charles Van Doren in Quiz Show. He also starred in The Constant Gardener, Strange Days, Red Dragon, Onegin, and The End of the Affair, among others. He is also well known for playing Lord Voldemort in five Harry Potter movies (of eight).
In 2011, Fiennes made his directorial debut with his film adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy Coriolanus, in which he also played the titular character. Fiennes won a Tony Award for playing Hamlet on Broadway and has been nominated twice for the Academy Award.
Ralph Twisleton Wykeham Fiennes was born in Ipswich on 22 December 1962, the eldest child of Mark Fiennes (1933–2004), a farmer and photographer whose father was industrialist Sir Maurice Fiennes (1907–1994), and Jennifer Lash (1938–1993), a writer of English and Irish descent. His surname is of Norman origin.

Laurence Kerr Olivier, Baron Olivier, OM ( /ˈlɒrəns ɵˈlɪvi.eɪ/; 22 May 1907 – 11 July 1989) was an English actor, director, and producer. One of the most famous and revered actors of the 20th century, he was the youngest actor to be knighted and the first to be elevated to the peerage. He married three times, to actresses Jill Esmond, Vivien Leigh, and Joan Plowright. Actor Spencer Tracy said that Olivier was 'the greatest actor in the English-speaking world'.
Olivier played a wide variety of roles on stage and screen from Greek tragedy, Shakespeare and Restoration comedy to modern American and British drama. He was the first artistic director of the National Theatre of Great Britain and its main stage is named in his honour. He is regarded by some to be the greatest actor of the 20th century, in the same category as David Garrick, Richard Burbage, Edmund Kean and Henry Irving in their own centuries. Olivier's AMPAS acknowledgments are considerable: twelve Oscar nominations, with two awards (for Best Actor and Best Picture for the 1948 film Hamlet), plus two honorary awards including a statuette and certificate. He was also awarded five Emmy awards from the nine nominations he received. Additionally, he was a three-time Golden Globe and BAFTA winner.

Sara returns to help settle his estate, and all our ladies cross paths with an eclectic group of local oddballs, as they search for a Loch Ness-style monster they believe lurks in the lake's depths. A few real Smith Mountain Lake characters make appearances. The next week at the lake is filled with adventure, tears, and laughter as Vivian and her two daughters finally understand, through the guidance of Dad's spirit, if they still belong on the lake, even though Ray is gone. All paths converge at the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival, on course for a heart-warming and hilarious collision.

Travel to Victoria British Columbia and it's like you left the province and are in a different country. (The same but different)
There's a lot you can do and see in one day because everything is very central, but not congested in the way Vancouver is.
We tour around the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, then head off to the oldest Chinatown in Canada (5 minutes away) followed by doubling back, past the Parliament Buildings and along Belleville ST to the Fisherman's Wharf.

There's a lot you can do and see in one day because everything is very central, but not congested in the way Vancouver is.

Peninsula Hot Springs are a unique and invigorating experience in the rolling hills of the Mornington Peninsula.
They source the mineral water from natural hot springs 637m below ground. This water comes out at a warm 50°C and then is cooled down to various temperatures between 37°C and 43°C so everyone can find a pool at a temperature that is comfortable for them.
The thermal waters in these pools are also full of minerals and are considered to have healing qualities for the body.
There are over 20 different styles of bathes and pools to choose from and you can even indulge in their private bathing area. We did that with a bottle of bubbly.
They even have a Hamam, Turkish Steam Room, where you can purchase the salts from reception and do the scrub amongst friends, or organise a group and have a therapist teach you what to do.
The bathes make the most of their natural surroundings so you don't feel like you are just walking in to public swimming pools, which a lot of thermal pools can feel like. They also empty the pools at the end of each day and fill them fresh each morning.
The ultimate indulgence though is visiting their Spa Dreaming Centre for any one of their signature treatments. I was taken u to their Arabian marquee (incredible by the way!) and enjoyed a massage, scrub and facial. This is seriously the most amazing day spa experience I have ever had.
They have so many packages to choose from and can organise a bathe and dine package and they can even organise accommodation at a close by hotel for you.

'Rhapsody for Youth' - Performance at the Bristol Old Vic
A group of unemployed young people on a Truth about Youth Performing Arts course performed in a special, one-off matinee show at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic on Friday 19 June. The group worked with a team of professionals from the Bristol Old Vic to create a performance called Rhapsody for Youth over a period of three weeks. Big thanks to everyone involved including the team at LinkAge Bristol for facilitating the meeting with the Malcolm X Elders during the course, the team of directors from The Bristol Old Vic, The Prince's Trust, and last but definitely not least our sponsors The Co-operative! -

For the third and final year...
...Lazarides will be returning underground to the Old Vic Tunnels to resurrect the madness of previous years in a brand new exhibition.
Bedlam, presented in association with HTC, will launch this October to coincide with Frieze Art Fair for two very mental weeks.
Taking its cue from London's
infamous mental institute...
...the art event expands upon the term's modern day usage to include the brutality long associated with lunatic asylums to a much looser interpretation indicative of a state of chaos, disorder and extreme confusion.
It will certainly leave you questioning your 'compos mentis' an experience that will showcase the line between genius and madness has never been so thin.
Bedlam over the years has become synonymous with madness, chaos and pandemonium, it seemed like the perfect theme for a world gone mad. Be afraid.

Most people that work in theatre are mad, everyone involved in the art world is crazy, Steve Lazarides is probably the craziest of them all, which is why Bedlam, the historic mental asylum, is the perfect backdrop for an art show, a stones throw from the original site. Built around the same time as The Old Vic Theatre it drew almost as many crowds; for a penny one could peer into their cells, view the freaks of the "show of Bethlehem" and laugh at their antics. I guess nothing changes....

There is an Underground Artist scheme with a resident Photographer, Graffiti Artist, Designer and soon Filmmaker and DJ. William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is a romantic comedy that includes a troupe of actors, fairies, and a man who is briefly afflicted with the head of a donkey. To bring its magical world to life, the Bristol Old Vic Theatre company has teamed up with the Handspring Puppet Company who also brought "War Horse" alive on stage.
Over the past two weeks the Christie's auction house has been presenting The Best of the Best in a new gallery space on its Hong Kong premises: The James Christie Room. The exhibition closes Saturday. This week, we're bringing you a sample.
Jessica Cheung was born and raised in Hong Kong, but received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture. She lived in New York from 2005 to 2010, and held several exhibitions there, some in the SoHo and Chelsea art districts. Back in Hong Kong, she says she doesn't just want her oil paintings to present an external reality. She also wants to present an internal, spiritual meaning. Her latest exhibition, "(I am ) in a Microcosmic World" is on show at the PubArt gallery until 4th April.
Fans of local classical musicians won't need much of an introduction to local pianist Wong Ka-jeng, also known as KJ. He's been playing the piano since he was seven, and music has clearly meant a lot to him all through his youth. This week he came to our studio to tell us about a new project, Music Lab, that he hopes will encourage a new younger generation to develop that same enthusiasm.
