Jude Anthany Joseph

Jude Anthany Joseph (born Sijo Joseph) is an Indian film director known for his 2014 Malayalam film Ohm Shanthi Oshaana.

Personal life

Jude Anthany Joseph (born Sijo Joseph) changed his name to Jude Anthany Joseph officially, after he became a strong follower of Saint Jude. Jude is married to Diyana Ann James. They married on 14 February 2015.

Film career

He started his film career with Crazy Gopalan (2008). After that he was assistant director in Malayalam films, Malarvaadi Arts Club (2010) and Thattathin Marayathu (2012). He has also directed two short films, one named "Yellow Pen" (2012) in which Aju Varghese played the lead role, and the other based on Malayalam movie actor Mammootty's life, titled "Mammookka's Biography". Even though the short film was completed in 2011, this was released to public through YouTube only in February 2014. The short film went viral in a short time and has garnered around 59,000 views in a span of one month. He made his directional movie debut through the Malayalam movie Ohm Shanthi Oshaana which was released in February 2014.

Saint Joseph

Joseph (Hebrew יוֹסֵף, Yosef; Greek: Ἰωσήφ, Ioseph) is a figure in the Gospels, the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, and is venerated as Saint Joseph in the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox Church, Anglican Communion, Lutheranism and Methodism. Christian tradition places Joseph as Jesus' foster father. Some historians state that Joseph was Jesus's father. Some differing views are due to theological interpretations versus historical views.

The Pauline epistles make no reference to Jesus's father; nor does the Gospel of Mark. The first appearance of Joseph is in the gospels of Matthew and Luke. Each contains a genealogy of Jesus showing ancestry from king David, but through different sons; Matthew follows the major royal line from Solomon, while Luke traces another line back to Nathan, another son of David and Bathsheba. Consequently, all the names between David and Joseph are different. According to Matthew 1:16 "Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary", while according to Luke 3:23, Joseph is said to be "[the son] of Heli". Some scholars reconcile the genealogies by viewing the Solomonic lineage in Matthew as Joseph's major royal line, and the Nathanic lineage in Luke to be Mary's minor line.

Joseph (fashion brand)

Joseph is a fashion brand and retail chain that was established in London by Moroccan entrepreneur Joseph Ettedgui and his family in 1972.

History of the brand

The Joseph brand grew from a small shop attached to a hairdressing salon in King's Road, Chelsea, owned by Casablanca-born Joseph Ettedgui and his brothers Maurice and Franklin, to more than 20 London stores, with eight additional outlets in New York and Paris plus stores in Leeds and Manchester.

Joseph Ettedgui’s love of fashion meant the brothers began displaying designer clothes in their hair salon in the 1960s, including the work of pioneering Japanese designer Kenzo Takada. The success of this early collaboration led to a move into fashion retailing, with the first store opening below the Chelsea hair salon in the early 1970s and the first large-scale retail outlet opening on Sloane Street in 1979.

Joseph stores championed the work of many up-and-coming designers, including Margaret Howell, Katharine Hamnett, John Galliano and Azzedine Alaïa. Joseph has been the recipient of a number of British Fashion Awards, including Knitwear Designer of the Year four times between 1990 and 1994 and a British Fashion Award in 2000 presented by Cherie Blair.

Județ

A județ (Romanian pronunciation: [ʒuˈdet͡s], plural județe [ʒuˈdet͡se]) is an administrative division in Romania, and was also used from 1998 to 2003 in Moldova, before it returned to raions.

Județ translates into English as "jurisdiction", but is commonly rendered as county (the preferred term for that being comitat in Romanian).

There are 41 județe in Romania, divided into municipii (cities), orașe (towns) and comune (communes). Each județ has a capital or county town where local and national institutions are headquartered. The central government is represented by one prefect in every județ.

Etymology

In the Romanian Principalities, the județ was an office with administrative and judicial functions, corresponding to both judge and mayor. The word is etymologically rooted in the Latin "judicium", and is therefore cognate to other administrative institutions like the Sardinian giudicati, or terms like jurisdiction and judge.

In Romanian, the term județ does not take an initial capital unless it is the first word of sentence.

Jude (film)

Jude is a 1996 British period drama film directed by Michael Winterbottom, and written by Hossein Amini, based on Thomas Hardy's novel Jude the Obscure. The original music score was composed by Adrian Johnston.

The film was shot in late 1995 in Edinburgh and locations in County Durham including Durham Cathedral, Durham City, Ushaw College, Blanchland village and Beamish museum.

Plot summary

In the Victorian period, Jude Fawley (Eccleston) is a bright young lower-class man who dreams of a university education. Circumstances conspire against him, and he is forced into a job as a stonemason and an unhappy marriage to a country girl, Arabella (Griffiths). He remains true to his dream and, months later, after his wife's sudden departure, he heads for the city. He thinks education is available for any man who is willing to work hard. There he encounters his cousin, Sue Bridehead (Winslet), who is beautiful and intelligent, and shares his disdain for convention. Whilst Jude is enraptured by Sue, she decides to marry Jude's former school teacher, Phillotson (Cunningham), after Jude tells her he is married to Arabella. Meanwhile, Jude is rejected for the university based primarily on his lower-class status.

History

Jude's debut album, 430 N. Harper Ave, was released independently by the Fish of Death label in 1997. This caught the attention of Madonna's record label, Maverick, who signed Jude and released his second album, No One Is Really Beautiful — which contained several re-recordings of some of the debut album's tracks. Jude enjoyed a short-lived radio term on select stations throughout the US, featuring two tracks from No One Is Really Beautiful, "I'm Sorry Now" (#33 Billboard Adult Top 40 Chart) and "Rick James" (#29 Billboard Adult Top 40 Chart, #28 Billboard Modern Rock Chart).

Jude first brushed with wide acclaim when his song "I Know" was featured on the multi-platinum City of Angels soundtrack, which hit #1 on the U.S. Billboard Chart, selling over five million copies in the U.S. alone. The song "I Do" from No One Is Really Beautiful was used in several television shows and is a fan favorite (and features on the first three of Jude's albums in various incarnations). During this time, Jude also toured with Alanis Morissette, Ben Folds Five, The Cranberries, Dido, Tori Amos, Better Than Ezra, Train, and Chris Isaak.
