Joe Ranft
Joseph Henry "Joe" Ranft (March 13, 1960 – August 16, 2005) was an American screenwriter, animator, storyboard artist, voice actor, and magician who worked for Pixar and Disney at Disney Animation and Disney Television Animation. His brother, Jerome Ranft, is a sculptor who also worked on several Pixar movies.
He received an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay nomination as one of the writers of Toy Story, and was also co-director on Cars, his final work.
Early life
Ranft was born in Pasadena, California, and raised in Whittier. As a child, Ranft developed a love for magic, storytelling, film and comedy. At 15, he became a member of the Magic Castle Junior Group. After graduating from Monte Vista High School, Whittier, in 1978, Mr. Ranft began studying in the character animation program at the California Institute of the Arts alongside John Lasseter and Brad Bird. After two years, Ranft's student film Good Humor caught the attention of Disney animation executives, who offered him a job.

John Lasseter
John Alan Lasseter (born January 12, 1957) is an American animator, film director, screenwriter, producer and the chief creative officer of Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and DisneyToon Studios. He is also the Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering.
Lasseter began his career as an animator with The Walt Disney Company. After being fired from Disney for promoting computer animation, he joined Lucasfilm, where he worked on the then-groundbreaking use of CGI animation. The Graphics Group of the Computer Division of Lucasfilm was sold to Steve Jobs and became Pixar in 1986. Lasseter oversees all of Pixar's films and associated projects as executive producer. In addition, he directed Toy Story (1995), A Bug's Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Cars (2006), and Cars 2 (2011). He is currently directing Toy Story 4, scheduled for 2018 release. Since 2007, he also oversees all of Walt Disney Animation Studios' (and its division DisneyToon Studios') films and associated projects as executive producer.

Lee Ermey, John Morris et Laurie Metcalf, les comédiens américains, reprennent leurs rôles respectifs depuis les précédents opus du film. Jim Varney, qui a joué Zig-Zag dans les deux premiers films, et Joe Ranft sont tous les deux décédés avant que le doublage de Toy Story 3 n'ait débuté. La voix de Zig-Zag a été reprise par Blake Clark, tandis que les personnages que doublait Ranft ont été retirés du scénario. Il s'apprête à les ranger, mais Molly fait tomber un jouet parmi d'autres destinés à Sunnyside, une garderie. Il l'aide, mais l'échelle du plafond se replie et la mère tombe sur le sachet. Elle l'emmène près des poubelles, et les jouets s'en vont à temps, mais Woody qui les a retrouvés après avoir voulu les sauver les voit entrer dans la voiture de la mère qui veut emmener des jouets à la garderie. Il tente de les convaincre de sortir de là, mais le coffre est refermé. Woody est persuadé que ses amis le supplieront de rentrer une fois entrés. Ils arrivent dans la garderie en question, et la boite est placée dans la salle à jouets. Ils sortent accidentellement du carton, et les jouets déjà là les accueillent chaleureusement. Chacun se présente à tous, et là, un ours en peluche rose appelé Lotso arrive. Il explique que, dans cet endroit, ils ne seront jamais délaissés. Les enfants, lorsqu'ils grandissent, amènent d'autres enfants et ainsi de suite. Puis, il appelle Ken, qui présente la salle. Il fait le tour du coin, et c'est à la fin qu'ils voient leur pièce à eux : la salle des chenilles (la salle de Lotso et des autres étant celle des papillons). Ken et Barbie, un des ex-jouets de Molly, se déclarent leurs sentiments et seule Barbie échappe à la destinée terrifiante qui les attend. En effet, Ken l'emmène avec lui. Lotso et son assistant Big Baby laissent les jouets dans la salle. Woody avoue que c'est un endroit magnifique. Il décide cependant de partir, laissant même Pile-Poil qui voulait l'accompagner. Il sort par la porte, passe par les toilettes et monte sur le toit, avant de trouver un cerf-volant auquel il s'accroche. AT LAST!! For you obscure media fans, here is one of legendary filmmaker Tim Burton's early efforts in collaboration with The Disney Channel that aired only once on Halloween night in 1983.
This is Burton's unique, twisted, Burtonesque version of the classic Grimm Fairy Tale featuring an all Asian cast. Hansel and Gretel are the two children of a poor toymaker, whose evil stepmother wishes to do away with them to avoid starving. After being intentionally led away in the woods, they come across a gingerbread house attended to by a bizarre, but seemingly nice old hag with a candy cane nose! (played by the same male actor as the Stepmother) who turns out to have evil designs for our heroes!
After the initial airing, Disney Channel execs were so distraught by the frightening subject matter, that they never allowed the film to be shown again. Thankfully, someone managed to tape it that night, which provides us with this footage.

It is Pixar's final independently produced motion picture before its purchase by Disney. Set in a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic cars and other vehicles, it features the voices of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman (in his final non-documentary feature), Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, Tony Shalhoub, Cheech Marin, Michael Wallis, George Carlin, Paul Dooley, Jenifer Lewis, Guido Quaroni, Michael Keaton, Katherine Helmond, and John Ratzenberger. It is also the second Pixar film—after A Bug's Life—to have an entirely non-human cast. The film was accompanied by the short One Man Band for its theatrical and home media releases.
Cars premiered on May 26, 2006 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina and was theatrically released on June 9, 2006, to positive reviews. It was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature, and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. The film was released on DVD on November 7, 2006 and to Blu-ray Disc in late 2007. Related merchandise, including scale models of several of the cars, broke records for retail sales of merchandise based on a Disney·Pixar film, bringing an estimated $10 billion in 5 years since the film's release. The film was dedicated to Joe Ranft, who was killed in a car accident during the film's production.
A sequel, Cars 2, was released on June 24, 2011, and a spin-off, Planes, produced by DisneyToon Studios, was released on August 9, 2013. A series of short animated films entitled Cars Toons has been airing since 2008.
