My first name begins with a J (John) but I have always gone by my middle name, Seth. I’m a historian, an activist, a writer and a tea drinker who lives part time in Salt Lake City, Utah and part time in Ithaca, New York. I have a masters degree in history from the University of Utah. My research focuses on the history of sexuality in the American West, specifically gay and lesbian history in Utah. My husband and I own The Queens’ Tea, a (very) small loose-leaf tea company in Salt Lake and we just launched the DigniTEA Foundation, a nonprofit serving homeless LGBT youth and survivors of gay conversion therapy. My husband, Dr. Michael Ferguson, and I are proud to be the first same-sex couple married in Utah.
