An art museum or art gallery is a building or space for the exhibition of art, usually visual art. Museums can be public or private, but what distinguishes a museum is the ownership of a collection. Paintings are the most commonly displayed art objects; however, sculpture, decorative arts, furniture, textiles, costume, drawings, pastels, watercolors, collages, prints, artists' books, photographs, and installation art are also regularly shown. Although primarily concerned with providing a space to show works of visual art, art galleries are sometimes used to host other artistic activities, such as performance art, music concerts, or poetry readings.
The term is used for both public galleries, which are non-profit or publicly owned museums that display selected collections of art. On the other hand, private galleries refers to the commercial enterprises for the sale of art. However, both types of gallery may host traveling exhibits or temporary exhibitions including art borrowed from elsewhere.
The Mori Art Museum (森美術館, Mori Bijutsukan) is a contemporary art museum founded by the real estate developer Minoru Mori in the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower in the Roppongi Hills complex both of which he built in Tokyo, Japan.
The interior architect of the museum's galleries on the 53rd floor of the 54 story tower in which the museum is housed is Richard Gluckman of Gluckman Mayner Architects. The museum does not exhibit a permanent collection but rather temporary exhibitions of works by contemporary artists.
Artists whose work has been exhibited at the museum include Ai Weiwei, Tokujin Yoshioka and Bill Viola.
The museum's founder Minoru Mori died in March 2012.The museum focuses contemporary art and significantly exhibiting works of Asian artists. It has MAM project which always exhibits solo show in a smaller scale in the museum space. In 2015 the museum exhibited Dinh Q. Le`s solo exhibition.

While museums around the world are putting a lockdown on selfie sticks, a museum in the Philippines wants visitors to be part of the art on display. Art in Island, located in a former bus station in Manila, capitalizes on the city's reputation as the Selfie Capital of the World with modified versions of famous works of art. The idea is for visitors to literally make themselves part of the picture. Blyth Cambaya, corporate secretary of Art in Island, said, "Here, art paintings are not complete if you are not with them.. if you don't take pictures with them." American tourist Jenna Eliel praised the museum's non-traditional approach. "You have to be very serious in other museums. [In] this museum, you can really just let your goofy side out." http://www.mashable.com LIKE us on FACEBOOK:...

Museums are believed to house art's best masterpieces thoughtfully composed by the most talented of people. That's why a Massachusetts gallery that specializes in bad art is gaining traction. Bill Geist visited the Museum of Bad Art in Somerville, Mass., and took a look at their priceless collection.
For sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, the ocean is more than a muse — it's an exhibition space and museum. Taylor creates sculptures of human forms and mundane life on land and sinks them to the ocean floor, where they are subsumed by the sea and transformed from lifeless stone into vibrant habitats for corals, crustaceans and other creatures. The result: Enigmatic, haunting and colorful commentaries about our transient existence, the sacredness of the ocean and its breathtaking power of regeneration. In this video we have a look at Eli and Edythe Broad's new contemporary art museum in Los Angeles, The Broad. We attended the press preview to have a look at the Broad's collection, and especially at the architecture of the new building that was designed by the New York-based architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro. We had the pleasure to talk to the architecture firms founding partner Elizabeth Diller, who provided us with some basic information on the concept of the museum's architecture with its “veil-and-vault” idea, the challenges the architecture studio faced, and how they worked with the natural light. The Broad is a new contemporary art museum built by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The museum is designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in co...
