The Library of America (LOA) is a nonprofit publisher of classic American literature.
Founded in 1979 with seed money from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Ford Foundation, the LOA has published over 200 volumes by a wide range of authors from Mark Twain to Philip Roth, Nathaniel Hawthorne to Saul Bellow, including the selected writings of several U.S. presidents.
The Bibliothèque de la Pléiade ("La Pléiade") series published in France provided the model for the LOA, which was long a dream of the critic Edmund Wilson.
The initial publishers included American academic Daniel Aaron, Lawrence Hughes, Helen Honig Meyer, and Roger W. Straus, Jr.. The initial board of advisers included Robert Penn Warren, C. Vann Woodward, R. W. B. Lewis, Robert Coles, Irving Howe, and Eudora Welty. Officers included Richard Poirier, Jason Epstein, Daniel Aaron, and Cheryl Hurley. As of 2009, Hurley remains president of the Library of America.
The first volumes were published in 1982, ten years after Wilson's death. Besides the works of many individual writers, the series includes anthologies like Reporting World War II and (in a different format to the above illustration) Writing Los Angeles.

"Waiting All Night" is a song by English drum and bass band Rudimental. It features vocals from English singer Ella Eyre. The song was released in the United Kingdom on 14 April 2013 as the fourth single from their debut studio album, Home (2013). The song reached number one in the UK Singles Chart and has also charted in Australia and Belgium. The group, along with Eyre, performed a live version of the song for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, which features on the Live Lounge 2013 compilation album.
A mashup of the song with Bastille's "Pompeii" was performed live by Rudimental, Eyre and Bastille at the 2014 BRIT Awards. The mashup entered the UK Singles Chart at number 21.
Lewis Corner of Digital Spy gave the song a positive review stating:
"I've been waiting all night for you to tell me what you want," singer Ella Eyre's warm and tender vocal declares over steadily rising drum-step and synthesised organ, before the chorus bursts open with soul-flying brass. It may echo much of their previous hits – if not with a slightly darker edge – but nevertheless their sound is one they can officially claim to dominate. .

Wednesday, October 7, 2015 6:00 P.M. The impact and influence of American writer James Baldwin (1924-1987) upon the 20th century cannot be overstated, and his legacy is just as resonant today. The essayist, novelist, playwright, poet and civil rights activist lived on Horatio in the late 1950s and early 60s, during one of his most prolific and creative periods, and the Village scene informed and was reflected in his writing and social activism. Join GVSHP and Two Boots outside 81 Horatio Street to unveil a historic plaque as we celebrate the work and explore the local connections of this essential artist. It’s a fitting coda to the recent citywide “Year of James Baldwin” marking what would have been his 90th year. Speakers will include 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gregory Pardlo; wr...
