the Canadian total. Twenty-three species
are considered rare or potentially at risk
and have been placed on the provincial
Red and Blue lists.

British Columbia 
i/ˌbrɪtɪʃ kəˈlʌmbiə/ (B.C. or BC) (French: la Colombie-Britannique, C.-B.) is the westernmost of Canada's provinces and is known for its natural beauty, as reflected in its Latin motto, Splendor sine occasu ("Splendour without Diminishment"). Its name was chosen by Queen Victoria in 1858. In 1871, it became the sixth province of Canada.
As well as being the westernmost province of Western Canada, British Columbia is also a component of the Pacific Northwest, along with the US states of Oregon and Washington. The province has strong cultural and personal ties to the Prairie Provinces and Ontario as well as to the West Coast of the United States and to Alaska and the Yukon.
The capital of British Columbia is Victoria, the 15th largest metropolitan region in Canada. The largest city is Vancouver, the third-largest metropolitan area in Canada, the largest in Western Canada, and the second largest in the Pacific Northwest. In 2009, British Columbia had an estimated population of 4,419,974 (about two and a half million of whom were in Greater Vancouver). The province is currently governed by the BC Liberal Party, led by Premier Christy Clark, who became leader as a result of the party election on February 26, 2011.

In mathematics, big O notation is used to describe the limiting behavior of a function when the argument tends towards a particular value or infinity, usually in terms of simpler functions. It is a member of a larger family of notations that is called Landau notation, Bachmann–Landau notation (after Edmund Landau and Paul Bachmann), or asymptotic notation. In computer science, big O notation is used to classify algorithms by how they respond (e.g., in their processing time or working space requirements) to changes in input size.
Big O notation characterizes functions according to their growth rates: different functions with the same growth rate may be represented using the same O notation. A description of a function in terms of big O notation usually only provides an upper bound on the growth rate of the function. Associated with big O notation are several related notations, using the symbols o, Ω, ω, and Θ, to describe other kinds of bounds on asymptotic growth rates.
Big O notation is also used in many other fields to provide similar estimates.

E ven though dragonflies are predominantly a tropical group, and even though they are one of the smaller insect orders, British Columbia is home to 87 species, roughly 40 percent of the Canadian total. Twenty-three species are considered rare or potentially at risk and have been placed on the provincial Red and Blue lists. Close to the harbor area, the city's skyscrapers have proliferated in recent years. The capital of the southwestern province of British Columbia has developed into an economic centre of renown.
The city's oldest buildings were built less than 100 years ago because the former wooden houses of old Vancouver were destroyed by fire. Several buildings reflect the origin of their inhabitants and are similar to those in the United States and Europe.
Inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, an elegant structure of pink stone and glass, Canada Place, is located in the busy centre of the new harbor district and is also the city's most recent landmark. Close by is Harbor Centre, a modern skyscraper complex with a shopping centre and a Skylift to the top floor. A glass elevator transports visitors to a 167-metre high observation platform where the view across the city, harbor and bay is overwhelming.
The exciting Skytrain is the city's most popular means of transport, an ultra-modern train built on posts that zig zags its way through the city. Each of the city's most important destinations are easily accessible and it has reduced the city's traffic problems considerably.
For the World Exhibition of 1986, on the edge of Chinatown, gardeners and craftsmen from Suzhou, China established Canada's first classical Chinese garden, the Doctor Sun Yat Sen Garden. Its ponds, bridges and small pavilions are similar to those in China, masterpieces of Far Eastern garden design.
Everything in Vancouver is youthful, attractive and dynamic, a place in which Canadian politeness unites with the Pacific way of life!

Vancouver is consistently named as one of the top five worldwide cities for livability and quality of life. It's a coastal seaport city with a metropolitan population of over 2.5 million inhabitants, the third most populous in Canada.
Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada. 52% of its residents have a first language other than English.
Vancouver is one of Canada's warmest cities in the winter. On average, snow falls on eleven days per year. It's also one of the wettest Canadian cities.
Vancouver is one of Canada's largest industrial centres. Port Metro Vancouver, is Canada's largest and most diversified. While forestry remains its largest industry, Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry. Each year over a million people pass through Vancouver on cruise ship vacations, often bound for Alaska.
Vancouver has one of the largest urban parks in North America, Stanley Park, a 1,001 acre public park that borders the downtown and is almost entirely surrounded by waters of Vancouver Harbour and English Bay. The park is surrounded by the near-century-old Vancouver Seawall, which can draw thousands of residents and visitors to the park every day. The park also features forest trails, beaches, lakes, children's play areas, and the Vancouver Aquarium, among many other attractions. In June, 2014 Stanley Park was named ‘top park in the entire world’ by TripAdvisor.
Major film production studios in Vancouver and Burnaby have turned Greater Vancouver and nearby areas into one of the largest film production centres in North America, earning it the film industry nickname, Hollywood North.
Vancouver has hosted many international conferences and events, including Expo 86, the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics. In 2014, following thirty years in California, the annual TED conference made Vancouver its indefinite home. Several matches of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup were played in Vancouver, including the final at BC Place Stadium.

Rockburn Presents For twenty-six years Sophie Pierre was the chief of her band on the British Columbia reserve of St. Mary's just north of Cranbrook in the Kootenays. During her tenure, the band turned the St Eugene Residential School, where she studied as a child, into a world class resort, casino and golf course. Awarded the Order of British Columbia in 1994, Sophie Pierre was further recognized by her appointment as Chief Commissioner for the BC Treaty Commission in 2009, a position she still holds. An active supporter of the arts, Mr. Audain is Chair of the Audain Art Museum and the Audain Foundation. He is past Chair of the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the Vancouver Art Gallery Foundation, a past director of the National Gallery of Canada Foundation, and a former member of the British Columbia Arts Council.
Mr. Audain has been appointed to the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia. Mexico's drug war has left the country paralysed and its people afraid. As the violence escalates and the economy continues to dive, a potent groundswell of Mexicans are saying enough is enough.
"Who wants to go and visit a country at war?", asks Jorge Castaneda. Mexico's ex-foreign minister is a strong critic of the war on drugs. As he surveys a country defined by images of cars riddled with bullet holes, the faces of the dead and long-forgotten tourist haunts, he wonders what it is all for."This is all unnecessary. If the Americans want to stop drugs in the United States, let them do it." He argues that Mexico doesn't have a drug problem, it's merely a halfway house for the American trade. Yet Mexico has decided to take on the drug cartels, a move which many say has caused the current turmoil. Javier Sicilia lost his son in one of the thoughtless, random killings that have engulfed Mexico. Now Javier is among those leading the swelling public outcry against the government. "This stupid and badly planned war that's being fought amidst the corruption of our institutions, it's become a war against our people." For Jorge and Javier, their country can only stop being one of the most dangerous in the world when it stops fighting a war that isn't theirs to fight.

Mexico's drug war has left the country paralysed and its people afraid. As the violence escalates and the economy continues to dive, a potent groundswell of Mexicans are saying enough is enough.
"Who wants to go and visit a country at war?", asks Jorge Castaneda. Mexico's ex-foreign minister is a strong critic of the war on drugs. As he surveys a country defined by images of cars riddled with bullet holes, the faces of the dead and long-forgotten tourist haunts, he wonders what it is all for."This is all unnecessary. If the Americans want to stop drugs in the United States, let them do it." He argues that Mexico doesn't have a drug problem, it's merely a halfway house for the American trade. Yet Mexico has decided to take on the drug cartels, a move which many say has caused the current turmoil. Javier Sicilia lost his son in one of the thoughtless, random killings that have engulfed Mexico. Now Javier is among those leading the swelling public outcry against the government. "This stupid and badly planned war that's being fought amidst the corruption of our institutions, it's become a war against our people." For Jorge and Javier, their country can only stop being one of the most dangerous in the world when it stops fighting a war that isn't theirs to fight.
