FILM DESCRIPTION:
Writer-director Jack Hill (Spider Baby, Switchblade Sisters) managed to beat Death Wish to the screens by a year with this violent tale of a citizen touched by crime and deciding to fight back. Her little 11-year old sister is a hopeless addict, the police can't help, and poor Nurse "Coffy" Coffin (Pam Grier) has no choice but to take the law into her own hands. Posing as a Jamaican prostitute, Coffy infiltrates the lairs of pimp King George (Robert DoQui) and kingpin pusher Vitroni (Allan Arbus). Eventually, after her childhood sweetheart is beaten into a coma and she finds out her politician-lover (Booker Bradshaw) is involved, Coffy kills everyone with a shotgun. However, by having a black woman named Coffy get injected with a sugar mixture (the crooks think it's heroin), one can only imagine the filmmakers cackling about Coffy with cream and sugar. In fact, the original ad line promised "Coffy...she'll cream you!"

Excellent, prolific and versatile character actor Robert DoQui was born in 1934 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Langston University on a music scholarship and was a member of the popular singing group, "The Langstonaires". Following a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, DoQui went to New York to pursue a career in show business. He began appearing in films and TV shows in the mid 60s and soon amassed a long, diverse and impressive list of credits. DoQui frequently portrayed tough, hard-nosed, say-it-like-you-see-it characters with a great deal of fiery brio and steely conviction. Arguably best-known as the huffy, no-nonsense "Sergeant Warren Reed" in all three Robocop films, DoQui's other noteworthy film roles include the flamboyant pimp, "King George", in Jack Hill's terrifically trashy blaxploitation classic Coffy (1973), a former slave in the charming Disney outing Treasure of Matecumbe (1976), a fanatical religious cult member in the outrageously sleazy Guyana: Cult of the Damned (1979) and a hot-tempered short order cook in Miracle Mile (1988). Moreover, DoQui appeared in three movies for acclaimed director Robert Altman: Nashville (1975), Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976) and Short Cuts (1993). He supplied the voice of "Pablo Robertson" on the animated Harlem Globe Trotters (1970) TV series.Among the many television programs DoQui has done guest spots on are NYPD Blue (1993), as a Klingon on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), Picket Fences (1992), Starman (1986), Webster (1983), The Fall Guy (1981), Punky Brewster (1984), Hill Street Blues (1981), The Jeffersons (1975), Maude (1972), The Streets of San Francisco (1972), Sanford and Son (1972) Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974) Mod Squad (1968), The Fugitive (1963), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Robert DoQui
Robert DoQui (April 20, 1934 – February 9, 2008) was an American actor who starred in film and on television. He is best known for his role as King George in the 1973 film Coffy, starring Pam Grier, as Sgt. Warren Reed in the 1987 science fiction film RoboCop, the 1990 sequel RoboCop 2, and the 1993 sequel RoboCop 3. Robert starred on television and is also known for his voice as Pablo Roberts on the cartoon series Harlem Globetrotters from 1970-1973. He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
He starred in the miniseries Centennial in 1978, and the television film The Court-Martial of Jackie Robinson in 1990. Robert made guest appearances on many television series, including I Dream of Jeannie, Happy Days, The Jeffersons, Daniel Boone, Gunsmoke, Adam-12, The Parkers, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in the season 4 episode "Sons of Mogh" as a Klingon named Noggra. He died February 9, 2008 at the age of 73 from natural causes. He was buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.

Jack Hill
Jack Hill (born January 28, 1933) is an American film director in the exploitation film genre. Several of Hill's later films have been characterized as feminist works.
Early life and family
Hill was born in Los Angeles, California. His mother, Mildred (née Pannill, b. February 1, 1907; death date n.a.), was a music teacher, and his father, Roland Everett Hill (February 5, 1895 – November 10, 1986), worked as a set designer and art director for First National Pictures and Warner Bros. on films including The Jazz Singer, Captain Blood, Action in the North Atlantic, and Captain Horatio Hornblower, and as well was an architect who designed the centerpiece Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland in California.
Hill attended UCLA, which he attended, he said, for "a couple of years" before leaving to get married and then returning to earn a degree in music. While a student, he played in a symphony orchestra that performed for the soundtracks of Doctor Zhivago and The Brothers Karamazov, and he arranged music for burlesque performers; through this he met comedian Lenny Bruce, who daughter Kitty Bruce would act in Hill's 1975 film Switchblade Sisters. He on to postgraduate studies at UCLA Film School, where instructor and former movie director Dorothy Arzner and encouraged Hill and his classmate and friend Francis Ford Coppola. Hill worked as a cameraman, a sound recorder (including on Coppola's student short "Ayamonn the Terrible"), and an editor on student films. His short "The Host" starred Sid Haig, an acting student at the Pasadena Playhouse under teacher Arzner, who introduced them; this marked the first of several films together.

Pam Grier
Pamela Suzette "Pam" Grier (born May 26, 1949) is an American actress. She became famous in the early 1970s after starring in a string of moderately successful women in prison and blaxploitation films like The Big Bird Cage (1972), Coffy (1973), Foxy Brown (1974) and Sheba Baby (1975). Her career was revitalized in 1997 after her appearance in Quentin Tarantino's film Jackie Brown, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. She has also been nominated for a SAG Award as well as a Satellite Award for her performance in Jackie Brown. Grier is also known for her work on television, for 6 seasons she portrayed Kate 'Kit' Porter on the television series The L Word. She received an Emmy Award nomination for her work in the animated program Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child. Rotten Tomatoes has ranked her as the second greatest female action heroine in film history. Director Quentin Tarantino remarked that she may have been cinema's first female action star. She played the manipulative Amanda Waller, head of the Checkmate organisation, in the longrunning TV series, "Smallville".

Booker Bradshaw
Booker T. Bradshaw (May 21, 1940– April 1, 2003), born in Richmond, Virginia, was an American record producer, film and TV actor, and Motown executive.
Early life
Bradshaw worked for his father, Booker T. Bradshaw Sr., president of Virginia Mutual Life Insurance Company; a former member of the Richmond School Board and a trustee of Virginia Union and Virginia State. Bradshaw, disillusioned and working at his father's life insurance company, went on to study at Harvard to earn a degree in English. There he honed his acting skills, and met folk singer/musician Joan Baez. In 1961, while a junior at Harvard, he applied his singing talents on the The Original Amateur Hour television show with Ted Mack as a singer of folk songs, becoming a three time winner, and participated in the national finals at Madison Square Garden. He graduated from Harvard in 1962 and had learned to speak three languages. Bradshaw then went on to play at Carnegie Hall, and in the early sixties he was given a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.

Robert DoQui
Excellent, prolific and versatile character actor Robert DoQui was born in 1934 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Langston University on a music scholarship and was a member of the popular singing group, "The Langstonaires". Following a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, DoQui went to New York to pursue a career in show business. He began appearing in films and TV shows in the mid 60s and soon amassed a long, diverse and impressive list of credits. DoQui frequently portrayed tough, hard-nosed, say-it-like-you-see-it characters with a great deal of fiery brio and steely conviction. He attended Langston University on a music scholarship and was a member of the popular singing group, "The Langstonaires". Following a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, DoQui went to New York to pursue a career in show business. He began appearing in films and TV shows in the mid 60s and soon amassed a long, diverse and impressive list of credits. DoQui frequently portrayed tough, hard-nosed, say-it-like-you-see-it characters with a great deal of fiery brio and steely conviction. Arguably best-known as the huffy, no-nonsense "Sergeant Warren Reed" in all three Robocop films, DoQui's other noteworthy film roles include the flamboyant pimp, "King George", in Jack Hill's terrifically trashy blaxploitation classic Coffy (1973), a former slave in the charming Disney outing Treasure of Matecumbe (1976), a fanatical religious cult member in the outrageously sleazy Guyana: Cult of the Damned (1979) and a hot-tempered short order cook in Miracle Mile (1988). Moreover, DoQui appeared in three movies for acclaimed director Robert Altman: Nashville (1975), Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976) and Short Cuts (1993). Excellent, prolific and versatile character actor Robert DoQui was born in 1934 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Langston University on a music scholarship and was a member of the popular singing group, "The Langstonaires". Following a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, DoQui went to New York to pursue a career in show business. He began appearing in films and TV shows in the mid 60s and soon amassed a long, diverse and impressive list of credits. DoQui frequently portrayed tough, hard-nosed, say-it-like-you-see-it characters with a great deal of fiery brio and steely conviction. Arguably best-known as the huffy, no-nonsense "Sergeant Warren Reed" in all three Robocop films, DoQui's other noteworthy film roles include the flamboyant pimp, "King George", in Jack Hill's terrifically trashy blaxploitation classic Coffy (1973), a former slave in the charming Disney outing Treasure of Matecumbe (1976), a fanatical religious cult member in the outrageously sleazy Guyana: Cult of the Damned (1979) and a hot-tempered short order cook in Miracle Mile (1988). Moreover, DoQui appeared in three movies for acclaimed director Robert Altman: Nashville (1975), Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976) and Short Cuts (1993). Writer-director Jack Hill (Spider Baby, Switchblade Sisters) managed to beat Death Wish to the screens by a year with this violent tale of a citizen touched by crime and deciding to fight back. Robocop 3 (1993) Rant aka Movie Review
RoboCop 3 is a 1993 American science fiction action film directed by Fred Dekker and written by Frank Miller & Fred Dekker. Set in the near future in a dystopian metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, RoboCop 3 follows RoboCop (Robert John Burke) as he vows to avenge the death of his partner Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen) and tries to save Detroit from falling into chaos. It was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. Most of the buildings seen in the film were slated for demolition to make way for facilities for the 1996 Olympics. Nancy Allen, Robert DoQui, Felton Perry, Mario Machado, and Angie Bolling are the only cast members to appear in all three films.

RoboCop(1987) Movie Review & Retrospective
A feature length review & retrospective of one my all time favorite films, RoboCop(1987) starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Ronny Cox, Kurtwood Smith, Dan O'Herlihy, Miguel Ferrer, Robert DoQui, Ray Wise, Felton Perry, Kevin Page, Paul McCrane, and Jesse D. Goins, Directed by Paul Verhoeven. Why feature length? Because I couldn't do a short 5-20 minute review of the film if I tried, and I hope my love and compassion for the film shines through. I also spent a good part of the first 20 or so minutes detailing the films conception, it's backstory and behind the scenes info. So If it's too long for one sitting watch it in parts, and if you can watch it all at all once cool. I just hope you enjoy it. My review and retrospective on the criminally underrated sequel, RoboCop 2(1990) starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Tom Noonan, Dan O'Herlihy, Robert DoQui, Belinda Bauer, and Gabriel Damon. Directed by Irvin Kershner. Trivia After the success of RoboCop (1987), director Paul Verhoeven and the original screen writers were approached for a sequel by the studio immediately. According to Verhoeven, he wasn't yet ready to make a sequel and wanted to wait until a proper script was written. He felt going forward so quickly would make it feel like he was attempting to cash in on a product. The studio did not agree, and hired Frank Miller to quickly write a new script and implement his own ideas. A feature length review & retrospective of one my all time favorite films, RoboCop(1987) starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Ronny Cox, Kurtwood Smith, Dan O'Herlihy, Miguel Ferrer, Robert DoQui, Ray Wise, Felton Perry, Kevin Page, Paul McCrane, and Jesse D. Goins,

Why feature length? Because I couldn't do a short 5-20 minute review of the film if I tried, and I hope my love and compassion for the film shines through. I also spent a good part of the first 20 or so minutes detailing the films conception, it's backstory and behind the scenes info. So If it's too long for one sitting watch it in parts, and if you can watch it all at all once cool. I just hope you enjoy it. My Hook review has exceeded my expectations and that was a long one, and it got a lot of good marks from folks so who knows maybe this will do just as well if not better. I do in depth reviews not 5 minute overviews of movies. That's just how I roll. And this review and retrospective is no exception.

My review and retrospective on the criminally underrated sequel, RoboCop 2(1990) starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Tom Noonan, Dan O'Herlihy, Robert DoQui, Belinda Bauer, and Gabriel Damon.

After the success of RoboCop (1987), director Paul Verhoeven and the original screen writers were approached for a sequel by the studio immediately. According to Verhoeven, he wasn't yet ready to make a sequel and wanted to wait until a proper script was written. He felt going forward so quickly would make it feel like he was attempting to cash in on a product. The studio did not agree, and hired Frank Miller to quickly write a new script and implement his own ideas. Ultimately the film failed, and Paul Verhoeven stated that had the studio gone with his ideas, it was far better than what was presented.
The Robocop suit for this film was constructed purely of FiberGlass. This allowed Peter Weller far more freedom in terms of movement and gave the suit a far more metallic look.
The story involving corrupt Office Duffy was much more protracted in the film's initial cut, which included a much longer sequence where Duffy is tortured and killed onscreen as well as a running bit where other officers kept finding his severed body parts. The filmmakers knew these segments would have given the film an X rating and quickly rounded off the story to end with relatively little gore and no follow-up material.
The City of Detroit is depicted as being cash-strapped where OCP owns the entire metropolitan area - as life imitating art, the City of Detroit filed for Chapter 9 Bankruptcy on July 18, 2013 with an estimated $18 - $20 billion debt.
The press conference where Mayor Kuzak shouts at the media was filmed in front of the east entrance to the Houston City Hall building (901 Bagby, Houston, Texas). The grand finale was filmed at Wortham Center in the Theater District in Houston. In several scenes, the white building which was seen in the background was the Alley Theatre; CGI imagery was used to create the visible damage during the final scenes.
The role played by Patricia Charbonneau was originally written as a man.
The tiny "container" that held the drug Nuke was actually a saline re-moisturizer for contact lens wearers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The solution was dyed red and, in some shots, had a small needle sticking out after someone removes the covering.
Peter Weller and Patricia Charbonneau had previously co-starred in the film Shakedown (1988), where they both played lawyers and lovers. They are reunited in this film as the titular character and a technician. In the novelization by Ed Naha, the name of Charbonneau's character was Linda Garcia; and in the film, 'Garcia' is visible on her name-tag.
Peter Weller criticized Robocop 2's script, saying it lacked the spine and the soul of the original. Weller tried to convince writer Frank Miller, director Irvin Kershner and the film's producers that the third act needed a morality angle instead of being just a shoot 'em up. The producers felt the battle between Robocop and Cain was sufficient.
Even though Peter Weller broke up with his girlfriend during the filming of Robocop 2, he still had a good time making the movie and enjoyed working with director Irvin Kershner.
Alan Moore was originally offered the chance to write the film, but turned it down.
Norwegian director Nils Gaup was offered the project but turned it down.

RoboCop (1987) In an overly commercialized future, desensitized to violence, the Detroit Police Department, now corporate-run by OCP (Omni Consumer Products), finds itself overwhelmed, near collapse, and ready to strike. Chief among criminals at large is Clarence Boddicker, who alone, amidst his psychopathic gang, is responsible for thirty-one police deaths. While OCP's president awaits the full collapse of Detroit so he can built his Delta City dream project over its remains in six months, two officials at OCP look toward high-tech solutions to the crime problem, with an old-school official developing a robot (Enforcement Droid 209) while an ambitious upstart develops a cyborg (RoboCop, fashioned from the remains of fallen police officer Alex Murphy). RoboCop (1987) In an overly commercialized future, desensitized to violence, the Detroit Police Department, now corporate-run by OCP (Omni Consumer Products), finds itself overwhelmed, near collapse, and ready to strike. Chief among criminals at large is Clarence Boddicker, who alone, amidst his psychopathic gang, is responsible for thirty-one police deaths. With Coffy Pam Grier was catapulted to stardom and iconic status following solid roles in earlier ‘chicks in chains’ films. Here she plays nurse ‘Coffy’ Coffin seeking vigilante justice when her little sister is hospitalised by a smack pusher. When American International Pictures lost the chance to make Cleopatra Jones the studio looked for another project and turned to up and coming B-movie auteur Jack Hill (Spider Baby, Pit Stop). Coffy was such a success that the studio fast tracked Grier’s next movie (Foxy Brown) with Hill straight away.

However, by having a black woman named Coffy get injected with a sugar mixture (the crooks think it's heroin), one can only imagine the filmmakers cackling about Coffy with cream and sugar. In fact, the original ad line promised "Coffy...she'll cream you!"

Robert DoQui
Excellent, prolific and versatile character actor Robert DoQui was born in 1934 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Langston University on a music scholarship and was a member of the popular singing group, "The Langstonaires". Following a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, DoQui went to New York to pursue a career in show business. He began appearing in films and TV shows in the mid 60s and soon amassed a long, diverse and impressive list of credits. DoQui frequently portrayed tough, hard-nosed, say-it-like-you-see-it characters with a great deal of fiery brio and steely conviction. Writer-director Jack Hill (Spider Baby, Switchblade Sisters) managed to beat Death Wish to the screens by a year with this violent tale of a citizen touched by crime and deciding to fight back. Her little 11-year old sister is a hopeless addict, the police can't help, and poor Nurse "Coffy" Coffin (Pam Grier) has no choice but to take the law into her own hands. Posing as a Jamaican prostitute, Coffy infiltrates the lairs of pimp King George (Robert DoQui) and kingpin pusher Vitroni (Allan Arbus). Eventually, after her childhood sweetheart is beaten into a coma and she finds out her politician-lover (Booker Bradshaw) is involved, Coffy kills everyone with a shotgun. Excellent, prolific and versatile character actor Robert DoQui was born in 1934 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Langston University on a music scholarship and was a member of the popular singing group, "The Langstonaires". Following a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, DoQui went to New York to pursue a career in show business. He began appearing in films and TV shows in the mid 60s and soon amassed a long, diverse and impressive list of credits. DoQui frequently portrayed tough, hard-nosed, say-it-like-you-see-it characters with a great deal of fiery brio and steely conviction. Arguably best-known as the huffy, no-nonsense "Sergeant Warren Reed" in all three Robocop films, DoQui's other noteworthy film roles include the flamboyant pimp, "King George", in Jack Hill's terrifically trashy blaxploitation classic Coffy (1973), a former slave in the charming Disney outing Treasure of Matecumbe (1976), a fanatical religious cult member in the outrageously sleazy Guyana: Cult of the Damned (1979) and a hot-tempered short order cook in Miracle Mile (1988). Moreover, DoQui appeared in three movies for acclaimed director Robert Altman: Nashville (1975), Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976) and Short Cuts (1993). Omar (Sid Haig) ties up King George (Robert DoQui) and drags him from the car as Studs (Bob Minor) watches in horror.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Writer-director Jack Hill (Spider Baby, Switchblade Sisters) managed to beat Death Wish to the screens by a year with this violent tale of a citizen touched by crime and deciding to fight back. Her little 11-year old sister is a hopeless addict, the police can't help, and poor Nurse "Coffy" Coffin (Pam Grier) has no choice but to take the law into her own hands. Posing as a Jamaican prostitute, Coffy infiltrates the lairs of pimp King George (Robert DoQui) and kingpin pusher Vitroni (Allan Arbus). Eventually, after her childhood sweetheart is beaten into a coma and she finds out her politician-lover (Booker Bradshaw) is involved, Coffy kills everyone with a shotgun. However, by having a black woman named Coffy get injected with a sugar mixture (the crooks think it's heroin), one can only imagine the filmmakers cackling about Coffy with cream and sugar. In fact, the original ad line promised "Coffy...she'll cream you!"

A feature length review & retrospective of one my all time favorite films, RoboCop(1987) starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Ronny Cox, Kurtwood Smith, Dan O'Herlihy, Miguel Ferrer, Robert DoQui, Ray Wise, Felton Perry, Kevin Page, Paul McCrane, and Jesse D. Goins, Directed by Paul Verhoeven. Why feature length? Because I couldn't do a short 5-20 minute review of the film if I tried, and I hope my love and compassion for the film shines through. I also spent a good part of the first 20 or so minutes detailing the films conception, it's backstory and behind the scenes info. So If it's too long for one sitting watch it in parts, and if you can watch it all at all once cool. I just hope you enjoy it. RoboCop 3 is a 1993 American science fiction action film directed by Fred Dekker and written by Frank Miller & Fred Dekker. Set in the near future in a dystopian metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, RoboCop 3 follows RoboCop (Robert John Burke) as he vows to avenge the death of his partner Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen) and tries to save Detroit from falling into chaos. It was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. Most of the buildings seen in the film were slated for demolition to make way for facilities for the 1996 Olympics. Nancy Allen, Robert DoQui, Felton Perry, Mario Machado, and Angie Bolling are the only cast members to appear in all three films.

My review and retrospective on the criminally underrated sequel, RoboCop 2(1990) starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Tom Noonan, Dan O'Herlihy, Robert DoQui, Belinda Bauer, and Gabriel Damon.

After the success of RoboCop (1987), director Paul Verhoeven and the original screen writers were approached for a sequel by the studio immediately. According to Verhoeven, he wasn't yet ready to make a sequel and wanted to wait until a proper script was written. He felt going forward so quickly would make it feel like he was attempting to cash in on a product. The studio did not agree, and hired Frank Miller to quickly write a new script and implement his own ideas. Ultimately the film failed, and Paul Verhoeven stated that had the studio gone with his ideas, it was far better than what was presented.
The Robocop suit for this film was constructed purely of FiberGlass. This allowed Peter Weller far more freedom in terms of movement and gave the suit a far more metallic look.
The story involving corrupt Office Duffy was much more protracted in the film's initial cut, which included a much longer sequence where Duffy is tortured and killed onscreen as well as a running bit where other officers kept finding his severed body parts. The filmmakers knew these segments would have given the film an X rating and quickly rounded off the story to end with relatively little gore and no follow-up material.
The City of Detroit is depicted as being cash-strapped where OCP owns the entire metropolitan area - as life imitating art, the City of Detroit filed for Chapter 9 Bankruptcy on July 18, 2013 with an estimated $18 - $20 billion debt.
The press conference where Mayor Kuzak shouts at the media was filmed in front of the east entrance to the Houston City Hall building (901 Bagby, Houston, Texas). The grand finale was filmed at Wortham Center in the Theater District in Houston. In several scenes, the white building which was seen in the background was the Alley Theatre; CGI imagery was used to create the visible damage during the final scenes.
The role played by Patricia Charbonneau was originally written as a man.
The tiny "container" that held the drug Nuke was actually a saline re-moisturizer for contact lens wearers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The solution was dyed red and, in some shots, had a small needle sticking out after someone removes the covering.
Peter Weller and Patricia Charbonneau had previously co-starred in the film Shakedown (1988), where they both played lawyers and lovers. They are reunited in this film as the titular character and a technician. In the novelization by Ed Naha, the name of Charbonneau's character was Linda Garcia; and in the film, 'Garcia' is visible on her name-tag.
Peter Weller criticized Robocop 2's script, saying it lacked the spine and the soul of the original. Weller tried to convince writer Frank Miller, director Irvin Kershner and the film's producers that the third act needed a morality angle instead of being just a shoot 'em up. The producers felt the battle between Robocop and Cain was sufficient.
Even though Peter Weller broke up with his girlfriend during the filming of Robocop 2, he still had a good time making the movie and enjoyed working with director Irvin Kershner.
Alan Moore was originally offered the chance to write the film, but turned it down.
Norwegian director Nils Gaup was offered the project but turned it down.

My review and retrospective on the criminally underrated sequel, RoboCop 2(1990) starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Tom Noonan, Dan O'Herlihy, Robert DoQui, Belinda Bauer, and Gabriel Damon.

Trivia
After the success of RoboCop (1987), director Paul Verhoeven and the original screen writers were approached for a sequel by the studio immediately. According to Verhoeven, he wasn't yet ready to make a sequel and wanted to wait until a proper script was written. He felt going forward so quickly would make it feel like he was attempting to cash in on a product. The studio did not agree, and hired Frank Miller to quickly write a new script and implement his own ideas. Ultimately the film failed, and Paul Verhoeven stated that had the studio gone with his ideas, it was far better than what was presented.
The Robocop suit for this film was constructed purely of FiberGlass. This allowed Peter Weller far more freedom in terms of movement and gave the suit a far more metallic look.
The story involving corrupt Office Duffy was much more protracted in the film's initial cut, which included a much longer sequence where Duffy is tortured and killed onscreen as well as a running bit where other officers kept finding his severed body parts. The filmmakers knew these segments would have given the film an X rating and quickly rounded off the story to end with relatively little gore and no follow-up material.
The City of Detroit is depicted as being cash-strapped where OCP owns the entire metropolitan area - as life imitating art, the City of Detroit filed for Chapter 9 Bankruptcy on July 18, 2013 with an estimated $18 - $20 billion debt.
The press conference where Mayor Kuzak shouts at the media was filmed in front of the east entrance to the Houston City Hall building (901 Bagby, Houston, Texas). The grand finale was filmed at Wortham Center in the Theater District in Houston. In several scenes, the white building which was seen in the background was the Alley Theatre; CGI imagery was used to create the visible damage during the final scenes.
The role played by Patricia Charbonneau was originally written as a man.
The tiny "container" that held the drug Nuke was actually a saline re-moisturizer for contact lens wearers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The solution was dyed red and, in some shots, had a small needle sticking out after someone removes the covering.
Peter Weller and Patricia Charbonneau had previously co-starred in the film Shakedown (1988), where they both played lawyers and lovers. They are reunited in this film as the titular character and a technician. In the novelization by Ed Naha, the name of Charbonneau's character was Linda Garcia; and in the film, 'Garcia' is visible on her name-tag.
Peter Weller criticized Robocop 2's script, saying it lacked the spine and the soul of the original. Weller tried to convince writer Frank Miller, director Irvin Kershner and the film's producers that the third act needed a morality angle instead of being just a shoot 'em up. The producers felt the battle between Robocop and Cain was sufficient.
Even though Peter Weller broke up with his girlfriend during the filming of Robocop 2, he still had a good time making the movie and enjoyed working with director Irvin Kershner.
Alan Moore was originally offered the chance to write the film, but turned it down.
Norwegian director Nils Gaup was offered the project but turned it down.
