8.-No me refería a que nunca hace frío, si no que a pesar del mito que se cree, que en Rusia todo el tiempo hace frío las ciudades principales no siempre están en temperaturas bajo cero

Tras la adhesión de Crimea y Sebastopol a la Federación de Rusia, Vladímir Putin planteó al Ministerio de Transporte ruso la tarea de diseñar y construir el puente «en dos formas», una ferroviaria y otra para el transporte automotor. El ministro de Transporte respondió que además de esas dos opciones se tiene previsto ejecutar un túnel subacuático que cruce el estrecho.
Pero la idea de este puente fue concebida por primera vez por el ministro nazi Albert Speer a principios de 1943. Confiaba en que el puente ayudaría a encabezar la invasión alemana de la región del Cáucaso Norte. De enero a octubre de 1943, el retroceso de los ejércitos alemanes del Cáucaso/ el Grupo de Ejércitos A, se desarrolló a través del estrecho de Kerch. Para apoyar el retiro de la Organización Todt Alemana (OT) se había construido un teleférico a través del estrecho de Kerch, con una capacidad diaria de 1.000 toneladas. En marzo de 1943 Adolfo Hitler ordenó la construcción de una carretera y ferrocarril a través de un puente combinado sobre el estrecho de Kerch en 6 meses.
El puente de 4,5 kilómetros (2,8 millas) fue construido en el verano de 1944 después de la liberación de Crimea por parte del Ejército Rojo con los materiales que dejó en el sitio la Wehrmacht. Fue destruido dentro de los seis meses siguientes por el hielo que fluyó debido a la ausencia de espigones.

En una de las zonas más militarizada, se mueven piezas extrañas de ajedrez, que amenazan además con guerra en el tablero geopolítico, cerca del foco rojo del mundo, que es Oriente Medio con su Siria e Irak.
Esto es hoy Nagorno Karabaj, una autoproclamada república, reconocida internacionalmente como una región autónoma, pero dentro de Azerbaiyán, de un Azerbaiyán que reclama como suya.
Nagorno Karabaj es de etnia armenia, por eso el vecino país de nombre Armenia, la apoya, y así la receta está lista para un conflicto violento en esa región.
Acababa de empezar este abril y aunque nadie dice quién empezó, el fuego se cruzó entre las fuerzas militares de Nagorno -porque tienen sus propias fuerzas- y las fuerzas de Azerbaiyán.
En el fuego entraron al quite las fuerzas de Armenia para defender a Nagorno. El resultado: 18 soldados armenios y 12 soldados azerbaiyanos, todos muertos; y una alerta que sonó hasta la Casa Blanca y el Kremlin. Sólo faltaba que el Cáucaso se encienda feo.
El secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, John Kerry, y el canciller ruso, Serguei Lavrov, se llamaron por teléfono mientras la tensión crecía. Efectivamente era Azerbaiyán contra Armenia en esa línea de fuego. No obstante, el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, movió hilos y en Moscú (capital) líderes de ambos lados acordaron bajarle a los disparos en una débil tregua.
¿Por qué ahora ahí hay un foco de guerra? La política es muy rara, y no hay evidencia si hay o no detrás intereses transnacionales. Lo que sí podemos apuntar si queremos pensar mal, es que Azerbaiyán justamente está siendo apoyado por Turquía. El presidente turco, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, quiere apoyarlos en todo. Quizá porque Armenia está apoyada por Rusia.
Y entonces si pensamos en el avión bombardero ruso derribado hace unos meses por Turquía, las cosas comienzan a cuadrar. También le invitamos a observar un mapa y ver dónde está situada Armenia, Turquía, Azerbaiyán, Rusia, y además Irán. Todos en una especie de remolino montañoso llamado el Cáucaso.
Además también hay que saber que este es un conflicto que nunca se resolvió desde la época de la gran Unión Soviética (URSS), que antes de desintegrarse, los armenios del Nagorno de hoy, y de ayer, ya se estaban separando de Azerbaiyán.
Porque además Azerbaiyán y Armenia, por si usted no se acordaba, eran repúblicas soviéticas. ¡Bingo! El problema tiene una complejidad histórica gigante que hoy renace, porque desde hace décadas, desde 1988, ahí mismo ha habido hasta 30 mil muertos, y una tregua, la más duradera, la de 1994, que aunque se ha violado varias veces, mantenía en calma a la región, hasta hoy, con un grupo de Minsk de la Organización para la Seguridad y la Cooperación en Europa (OSCE), sea Rusia, Francia y EE.UU. tratando de poner paz.
¿Por qué hoy, en este momento geopolítico tenso y grave, aparece este otro conflicto? ¿Por qué Turquía apoya a Azerbaiyán? ¿Cuál es el papel de Rusia, EE.UU. e Irán en este asunto? ¿Hay detrás algún factor poco conocido o una estrategia que se relacione con el terrorismo en la cercana Siria? Dato: en diciembre pasado Rusia envió 7 mil soldados a Armenia. Buscando la verdad en Detrás de la Razón.

En una de las zonas más militarizada, se mueven piezas extrañas de ajedrez, que amenazan además con guerra en el tablero geopolítico, cerca del foco rojo del mundo, que es Oriente Medio con su Siria e Irak. Esto es hoy Nagorno Karabaj, una autoproclamada república, reconocida internacionalmente como una región autónoma, pero dentro de Azerbaiyán, de un Azerbaiyán que reclama como suya. Nagorno Karabaj es de etnia armenia, por eso el vecino país de nombre Armenia, la apoya, y así la receta está lista para un conflicto violento en esa región. Acababa de empezar este abril y aunque nadie dice quién empezó, el fuego se cruzó entre las fuerzas militares de Nagorno -porque tienen sus propias fuerzas- y las fuerzas de Azerbaiyán. En el fuego entraron al quite las fuerzas de Armenia para defender a Nagorno. El resultado: 18 soldados armenios y 12 soldados azerbaiyanos, todos muertos; y una alerta que sonó hasta la Casa Blanca y el Kremlin. Sólo faltaba que el Cáucaso se encienda feo. El secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, John Kerry, y el canciller ruso, Serguei Lavrov, se llamaron por teléfono mientras la tensión crecía. Efectivamente era Azerbaiyán contra Armenia en esa línea de fuego. No obstante, el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, movió hilos y en Moscú (capital) líderes de ambos lados acordaron bajarle a los disparos en una débil tregua. ¿Por qué ahora ahí hay un foco de guerra? La política es muy rara, y no hay evidencia si hay o no detrás intereses transnacionales. Lo que sí podemos apuntar si queremos pensar mal, es que Azerbaiyán justamente está siendo apoyado por Turquía. El presidente turco, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, quiere apoyarlos en todo. Quizá porque Armenia está apoyada por Rusia. Y entonces si pensamos en el avión bombardero ruso derribado hace unos meses por Turquía, las cosas comienzan a cuadrar. También le invitamos a observar un mapa y ver dónde está situada Armenia, Turquía, Azerbaiyán, Rusia, y además Irán. Todos en una especie de remolino montañoso llamado el Cáucaso. Además también hay que saber que este es un conflicto que nunca se resolvió desde la época de la gran Unión Soviética (URSS), que antes de desintegrarse, los armenios del Nagorno de hoy, y de ayer, ya se estaban separando de Azerbaiyán. Porque además Azerbaiyán y Armenia, por si usted no se acordaba, eran repúblicas soviéticas. ¡Bingo! El problema tiene una complejidad histórica gigante que hoy renace, porque desde hace décadas, desde 1988, ahí mismo ha habido hasta 30 mil muertos, y una tregua, la más duradera, la de 1994, que aunque se ha violado varias veces, mantenía en calma a la región, hasta hoy, con un grupo de Minsk de la Organización para la Seguridad y la Cooperación en Europa (OSCE), sea Rusia, Francia y EE.UU. tratando de poner paz. ¿Por qué hoy, en este momento geopolítico tenso y grave, aparece este otro conflicto? ¿Por qué Turquía apoya a Azerbaiyán? ¿Cuál es el papel de Rusia, EE.UU. e Irán en este asunto? ¿Hay detrás algún factor poco conocido o una estrategia que se relacione con el terrorismo en la cercana Siria? En la lucha contra el terrorismo hay un grave problema hoy: Rusia ataca a los terroristas, EE.UU. y la OTAN, dicen atacar a los terroristas. Los aviones son especializados en derribar otros aviones cazas o bombarderos, algo que no usarán desde luego contra los terroristas porque no tienen aviones militares. ¿Entonces contra quién? Hace unos días también, la OTAN invitó al país Montenegro a adherirse como Estado miembro para ser protegido por la sombre del Occidente. Una invitación que Rusia tomó como amenaza de los europeos. Esto, más la maniobra militar más grande de la historia de la OTAN, para mostrarle al enemigo su poderío. Todo este andamiaje de la OTAN, provocó la valentía de Turquía para que con la mano en la cintura le derribara el avión militar a Rusia. Y que emprendiera una guerra de coraje y odio contra el Kremlin. Se han dicho los peores insultos. Rusia dijo que las sanciones de los tomates serán el principio pero que se van a arrepentir. Turquía responde que los turcos son muy orgullosos y nadie los va arrodillar. Y ahora las cosas se complicaron mucho peor, porque Rusia revela que los terroristas del grupo takfirí EIIL (Daesh, en árabe) y la familia del presidente de Turquía, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, son un mismo monstruo. Rusia asegura que el hijo del presidente, Bilal Erdogan, compra el petróleo que los terroristas roban a Siria y con ese dinero los terroristas compran más armas y adquieren más poder. Rusia dice que el Gobierno de Erdogan es un negocio familiar, más con el yerno del presidente, Berat Albayrak, nombrado ministro de Energía. Turquía revira, resintiéndose y asegura que es el hombre de negocios sirio George Haswani, amigo de los rusos, quien compra el petróleo ensuciado con sangre. La diplomacia se acabó. Tras la adhesión de Crimea y Sebastopol a la Federación de Rusia, Vladímir Putin planteó al Ministerio de Transporte ruso la tarea de diseñar y construir el puente «en dos formas», una ferroviaria y otra para el transporte automotor. El ministro de Transporte respondió que además de esas dos opciones se tiene previsto ejecutar un túnel subacuático que cruce el estrecho.
Pero la idea de este puente fue concebida por primera vez por el ministro nazi Albert Speer a principios de 1943. Confiaba en que el puente ayudaría a encabezar la invasión alemana de la región del Cáucaso Norte. De enero a octubre de 1943, el retroceso de los ejércitos alemanes del Cáucaso/ el Grupo de Ejércitos A, se desarrolló a través del estrecho de Kerch. Para apoyar el retiro de la Organización Todt Alemana (OT) se había construido un teleférico a través del estrecho de Kerch, con una capacidad diaria de 1.000 toneladas. En marzo de 1943 Adolfo Hitler ordenó la construcción de una carretera y ferrocarril a través de un puente combinado sobre el estrecho de Kerch en 6 meses.
El puente de 4,5 kilómetros (2,8 millas) fue construido en el verano de 1944 después de la liberación de Crimea por parte del Ejército Rojo con los materiales que dejó en el sitio la Wehrmacht. Fue destruido dentro de los seis meses siguientes por el hielo que fluyó debido a la ausencia de espigones.

En una de las zonas más militarizada, se mueven piezas extrañas de ajedrez, que amenazan además con guerra en el tablero geopolítico, cerca del foco rojo del mundo, que es Oriente Medio con su Siria e Irak.
Esto es hoy Nagorno Karabaj, una autoproclamada república, reconocida internacionalmente como una región autónoma, pero dentro de Azerbaiyán, de un Azerbaiyán que reclama como suya.
Nagorno Karabaj es de etnia armenia, por eso el vecino país de nombre Armenia, la apoya, y así la receta está lista para un conflicto violento en esa región.
Acababa de empezar este abril y aunque nadie dice quién empezó, el fuego se cruzó entre las fuerzas militares de Nagorno -porque tienen sus propias fuerzas- y las fuerzas de Azerbaiyán.
En el fuego entraron al quite las fuerzas de Armenia para defender a Nagorno. El resultado: 18 soldados armenios y 12 soldados azerbaiyanos, todos muertos; y una alerta que sonó hasta la Casa Blanca y el Kremlin. Sólo faltaba que el Cáucaso se encienda feo.
El secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, John Kerry, y el canciller ruso, Serguei Lavrov, se llamaron por teléfono mientras la tensión crecía. Efectivamente era Azerbaiyán contra Armenia en esa línea de fuego. No obstante, el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, movió hilos y en Moscú (capital) líderes de ambos lados acordaron bajarle a los disparos en una débil tregua.
¿Por qué ahora ahí hay un foco de guerra? La política es muy rara, y no hay evidencia si hay o no detrás intereses transnacionales. Lo que sí podemos apuntar si queremos pensar mal, es que Azerbaiyán justamente está siendo apoyado por Turquía. El presidente turco, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, quiere apoyarlos en todo. Quizá porque Armenia está apoyada por Rusia.
Y entonces si pensamos en el avión bombardero ruso derribado hace unos meses por Turquía, las cosas comienzan a cuadrar. También le invitamos a observar un mapa y ver dónde está situada Armenia, Turquía, Azerbaiyán, Rusia, y además Irán. Todos en una especie de remolino montañoso llamado el Cáucaso.
Además también hay que saber que este es un conflicto que nunca se resolvió desde la época de la gran Unión Soviética (URSS), que antes de desintegrarse, los armenios del Nagorno de hoy, y de ayer, ya se estaban separando de Azerbaiyán.
Porque además Azerbaiyán y Armenia, por si usted no se acordaba, eran repúblicas soviéticas. ¡Bingo! El problema tiene una complejidad histórica gigante que hoy renace, porque desde hace décadas, desde 1988, ahí mismo ha habido hasta 30 mil muertos, y una tregua, la más duradera, la de 1994, que aunque se ha violado varias veces, mantenía en calma a la región, hasta hoy, con un grupo de Minsk de la Organización para la Seguridad y la Cooperación en Europa (OSCE), sea Rusia, Francia y EE.UU. tratando de poner paz.
¿Por qué hoy, en este momento geopolítico tenso y grave, aparece este otro conflicto? ¿Por qué Turquía apoya a Azerbaiyán? ¿Cuál es el papel de Rusia, EE.UU. e Irán en este asunto? ¿Hay detrás algún factor poco conocido o una estrategia que se relacione con el terrorismo en la cercana Siria? En una de las zonas más militarizada, se mueven piezas extrañas de ajedrez, que amenazan además con guerra en el tablero geopolítico, cerca del foco rojo del mundo, que es Oriente Medio con su Siria e Irak.
Esto es hoy Nagorno Karabaj, una autoproclamada república, reconocida internacionalmente como una región autónoma, pero dentro de Azerbaiyán, de un Azerbaiyán que reclama como suya.
Nagorno Karabaj es de etnia armenia, por eso el vecino país de nombre Armenia, la apoya, y así la receta está lista para un conflicto violento en esa región.
Acababa de empezar este abril y aunque nadie dice quién empezó, el fuego se cruzó entre las fuerzas militares de Nagorno -porque tienen sus propias fuerzas- y las fuerzas de Azerbaiyán.
En el fuego entraron al quite las fuerzas de Armenia para defender a Nagorno. El resultado: 18 soldados armenios y 12 soldados azerbaiyanos, todos muertos; y una alerta que sonó hasta la Casa Blanca y el Kremlin. Sólo faltaba que el Cáucaso se encienda feo.
El secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, John Kerry, y el canciller ruso, Serguei Lavrov, se llamaron por teléfono mientras la tensión crecía. Efectivamente era Azerbaiyán contra Armenia en esa línea de fuego. No obstante, el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, movió hilos y en Moscú (capital) líderes de ambos lados acordaron bajarle a los disparos en una débil tregua.
¿Por qué ahora ahí hay un foco de guerra? La política es muy rara, y no hay evidencia si hay o no detrás intereses transnacionales. En la lucha contra el terrorismo hay un grave problema hoy: Rusia ataca a los terroristas, EE.UU. y la OTAN, dicen atacar a los terroristas.
Pero, a saber, por debajo del agua, la Organización del Tratado del Atlántico Norte (OTAN) está atacando a Rusia, por lo menos con amenazas sutiles.
Tras el derribo del avión ruso por los turcos, una muestra de poder amenazante se le ha dirigido hacia Rusia. Desde las declaraciones del presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, o del secretario general de la OTAN, Jens Stoltenberg, a cerca de defender siempre a todos los miembros de la OTAN, léase Turquía, hasta las decisiones del Reino Unido de enviar aviones a las bases de Turquía para estacionarlos ahí.
Los aviones son especializados en derribar otros aviones cazas o bombarderos, algo que no usarán desde luego contra los terroristas porque no tienen aviones militares. ¿Entonces contra quién?
Hace unos días también, la OTAN invitó al país Montenegro a adherirse como Estado miembro para ser protegido por la sombre del Occidente. Una invitación que Rusia tomó como amenaza de los europeos.
Esto, más la maniobra militar más grande de la historia de la OTAN, para mostrarle al enemigo su poderío. Todo este andamiaje de la OTAN, provocó la valentía de Turquía para que con la mano en la cintura le derribara el avión militar a Rusia. Y que emprendiera una guerra de coraje y odio contra el Kremlin.
Se han dicho los peores insultos. Rusia dijo que las sanciones de los tomates serán el principio pero que se van a arrepentir. Turquía responde que los turcos son muy orgullosos y nadie los va arrodillar.
Y ahora las cosas se complicaron mucho peor, porque Rusia revela que los terroristas del grupo takfirí EIIL (Daesh, en árabe) y la familia del presidente de Turquía, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, son un mismo monstruo.
Rusia asegura que el hijo del presidente, Bilal Erdogan, compra el petróleo que los terroristas roban a Siria y con ese dinero los terroristas compran más armas y adquieren más poder.
Rusia dice que el Gobierno de Erdogan es un negocio familiar, más con el yerno del presidente, Berat Albayrak, nombrado ministro de Energía.
Turquía revira, resintiéndose y asegura que es el hombre de negocios sirio George Haswani, amigo de los rusos, quien compra el petróleo ensuciado con sangre.
La diplomacia se acabó. No quedan más que las acusaciones muy graves entre la frontera de la paz y la guerra. ¿Qué maquinaria está detrás de todo esto?

3.- La decisión del Perú para mejorar su fuerza aérea con los MIG 29 de última generación (Esto se puede interpretar con los MIg 29M2, aquel que quiera creer que crea, sin hay incredulos, pues que no lo crea)
4- Rusia se ha comprometido a enviar nuevos tanques y misiles de ultima generación a Perú para fortalecer a su nuevo aliado estratégico (!!!)
Terminaremos diciendo que lo mejor que ha hecho Ollanta Humala referente a las Fuerzas Armadas es firmar el tratado de aliado estratégico con Rusia, estemos o no de acuerdo con el en muchas cosas, esto es un hecho de innegable beneficio para el Perú.

2- Los Estados Unidos. y Rusia realizan ejercicios militares con la aviacion, unos contra el otro en el Perú. (sabemos que Los Estados Unidos han tenido varias veces ejercicios aéreos con la FAP, pero NUNCA algun gobierno Peruano a revelado que También la FAP practica con la Fuerza aérea Rusa)
3.- La decisión del Perú para mejorar su fuerza aérea con los MIG 29 de última generación (Esto se puede interpretar con los MIg 29M2, aquel que quiera creer que crea, sin hay incredulos, pues que no lo crea)
4- Rusia se ha comprometido a enviar nuevos tanques y misiles de ultima generación a Perú para fortalecer a su nuevo aliado estratégico (!!!)
Terminaremos diciendo que lo mejor que ha hecho Ollanta Humala referente a las Fuerzas Armadas es firmar el tratado de aliado estratégico con Rusia, estemos o no de acuerdo con el en muchas cosas, esto es un hecho de innegable beneficio para el Perú.

The Kremlin extends beyond a red wall and various towers that date back to the fifteenth century. Since time immemorial it has been the seat of both tsars and bishops and in front of its walls is Red Square that was once used as a marketplace and also a place of execution. Here the death penalty was declared and immediately carried out. Arbatskaya is a city district west of the Kremlin. In the fifteenth century, the craftsmen and servants of the Tsar lived there and then followed artists, intellectuals and aristocrats. In 1935 the Metro was inaugurated and had thirteen stations. Today there are more than a hundred located along two hundred and sixty kilometres of rail, used by millions each and every day. The Moscow Underground is fast, cheap and quite splendid. Its stations are veritable works of art! When the Tsar’s empire vanished, the realm of the Communist rulers was torn apart. But the mega metropolis of Moscow managed to survive. A restless and powerful city of fantastic culture and truly dramatic history.

The Krasnodar Region is located in the south-west part of the Northern Caucasus, and the 45th parallel splits it up in approximately two equal parts. In the northeast, the region borders on the Rostov Oblast, on the east with the Stavropol Region, in the south on Georgia. In the northwest and southwest the territory is washed by the Azov and the Black Seas. The general extent of borders of edge 1 540 km, overland 800 km and 740 km on the sea. Krasnodar Region occupies an area of 76,000 square kilometers and is the southernmost region of Russia. In the region, there live over five million people, about 53 % in the cities and 47 % in the rural area inclusive. Average population density 66,6 persons on 1 square kilometre.
The territory itself has been formed from a part of the territories, which before the revolution were occupied by the Kuban Oblast and Chernomorskaya Province. The two administrative units have been united into the Kubansko-Chernomorskaya Oblast, which in 1920 covered a territory of 105.5 thousand square kilometers. In 1924 the North-Caucasian Region was established with a center in Rostov-on-Don, in 1934 it was divided into Azovo-Chernomorsky (the center Rostov-on-Don) and the North-Caucasian (the center — Stavropol) Regions. On September 13, 1937 the Azovo-Chernomorsky Region was divided into Rostov Oblast and the Krasnodar Region, including the Adygeyan Autonomous Oblast. In 1991 the Adygeyan Autonomous Oblast abandoned the region's structure and was reorganized into the Adygeyan Republic.
The basis of the industrial structure of the Krasnodar Region is made of the industrial, construction, fuel and energy complexes, the area of the information and communication technologies, as well as the agroindustrial, transport, resort-recreational and tourist complexes. The last three directions of activity (agroindustrial, transport, sanatorium-resort, and tourist complexes) correspond to the priorities of social and economic development of Russia and determine a special status of the Krasnodar Region in the country's economics. A dynamic development of the agroindustrial complex (hereinafter: AIC) of the Krasnodar Region provides a food security of the country. The region possesses the richest resources of the agricultural lands, including the black soils, the area of which makes up 4,805,000 hectares (that is over 4 per cent of the Russian and about 2 per cent of the world reserves). The region holds the first place among the entities of the Russian Federation by the volume of production of grain, sugar beet, fruit and berries, the second place in production of sunflower seeds and honey. The region holds the second place among the entities of the Russian Federation in production of eggs, meat of cattle, and poultry (in live weight), and the third place in production of milk.
The transport complex provides implementation of the foreign policy and economic interests of Russia in the zone of the Black Sea and Mediterranean economic cooperation, making a significant input in the increase of "coherency" of the country's territory. The seaports of the region provide a direct access through the Azov and the Black Seas to the international foreign-trade routes and process over 35 per cent of the foreign-trade Russian and transit cargoes of the seaports of Russia, that of about one-third oil exported by Russian. Over the territory of the region, pass the most important railroad routes of federal significance, which are oriented toward the international seaports of the region and the resorts of the Black and Azov Seas. The pipeline transport is represented by the international oil pipeline of Tengiz Novorossiysk and gas pipeline of Russia Turkey (The Blue Stream). The air transportation of the Krasnodar Region is represented by the four airports, two of which are the international ones (Krasnodar, Sochi).

Sochi, known as the Russian Riviera, is the popular black sea resort where the 2014 Olympics will be held. There will be two clusters for the games one on the coast and and one in the mountains. Sochi will also be the host for the 2014 Formula One Grand Prix. It is about 1000 miles south of Moscow and serviced by Siberian Airways. This domestic Russian airline flies between Moscow and Sochi Adler airport, and travel time is about 2 hours and 15 minutes. On both trips the ground staff collecting boarding passes said, as I entered the jetway, "Good Luck". Fortunately the flight was lucky and landed safely in this sub tropical city which shares a similar latitude with the French Cote d'Azur. With palm trees and waters warm enough to swim in through October, Sochi is at first glance not somewhere one would associate with winter Olympic competitions.
From the airport to central Sochi can take 45 minutes depending on traffic. The Chebotarev Hotel is a four-star property and has 70 rooms, many with views of the city and the Black Sea. Furnishings are classically Russian with some wall tapestries and generous space for sofa and chairs. Interesting features includes motion sensors that turns lights on and off as one walks through the hallways. Depending on how fast or slow one strolls --- it can leave you in the dark. A light buffet breakfast is served in the hotel's restaurant, "Alexander".
Along the boardwalk is the leading seafood restaurant, Blue Sea. It is tastefully decorated with a modern, comfortable environment, excellent service and good food. Fresh fish and crab with asparagus, beef, black sea flat fish, and pasta with crab are just some of the dishes.
The Sochi boardwalk extends for several kilometers along the beach and is peppered with many cafes, restaurants and shops. Musicians perform along the beachfront and small shops have interesting attractions from feel cleaning Thai fish to fruit drinks and shooting galleries. For the serious shopper, Sochi has several large shopping malls.
The Olymp is currently Sochi's largest mall with over 70 shops, food court, restaurants, metroplex theater and a massive supermarket. Familiar products like Heinz ketchup are among less familiar items like fresh sturgeon caviar as well as mock caviar. One of the most popular fish egg products is the fresh salmon eggs -- a far cry from fish bait --- these eggs are beautiful in color, creamy in taste and delicious served with pancakes and creme fraiche.
Also creamy is the Russian ice cream with a spectrum of flavors. Some outstanding ones were the pistachio and dark, rich chocolate.
At the Rodina Grand Spa hotel which has stunning grounds reaching to the water's edge is the Black Sea Beach Club. Here one can, in the season, lounge in the sun and raise a small flag in your hand when wishing a refill of your drink.
There is much to do in Sochi including the Dendrary Botanical Garden, the largest subtropical park in Russia.
But it was time to make the one-hour drive from Sochi to Krasnaya Polyana, home to the Rosa Khutor alpine ski resort. It is probably the world's largest construction projects already topping 50 billion dollars. Besides the six new stadiums, there are new roads, high speed rail, bridges, tunnels, hotels, villages, a theme park and a new huge power grid to run it all.
The Western Caucasus mountains surrounding Polyana are breathtaking. The snow is remarkable, especially considering that one is near a seaside resort. From some of the runs one can, on a clear day observe the Black Sea. In the summer the temperatures in Sochi can rise above 100 degrees with abundant humidity. Skiing on North American-type snow with brilliant sunshine is unique for Europe. The downhill courses are challenging and the mountain is served by modern Poma gondolas and chairlifts. They worked well for the most part except one day when a power outage kept skiers waiting for about 45 minutes.
The weather above Sochi is very unpredictable. Exactly one year before the Sochi games are to begin there was no snow.

Along the boardwalk is the leading seafood restaurant, Blue Sea. It is tastefully decorated with a modern, comfortable environment, excellent service and good food. Fresh fish and crab with asparagus, beef, black sea flat fish, and pasta with crab are just some of the dishes.
The Sochi boardwalk extends for several kilometers along the beach and is peppered with many cafes, restaurants and shops. Musicians perform along the beachfront and small shops have interesting attractions from feel cleaning Thai fish to fruit drinks and shooting galleries. For the serious shopper, Sochi has several large shopping malls.
The Olymp is currently Sochi's largest mall with over 70 shops, food court, restaurants, metroplex theater and a massive supermarket. Familiar products like Heinz ketchup are among less familiar items like fresh sturgeon caviar as well as mock caviar. One of the most popular fish egg products is the fresh salmon eggs -- a far cry from fish bait --- these eggs are beautiful in color, creamy in taste and delicious served with pancakes and creme fraiche.
Also creamy is the Russian ice cream with a spectrum of flavors. Some outstanding ones were the pistachio and dark, rich chocolate.
At the Rodina Grand Spa hotel which has stunning grounds reaching to the water's edge is the Black Sea Beach Club. Here one can, in the season, lounge in the sun and raise a small flag in your hand when wishing a refill of your drink.
There is much to do in Sochi including the Dendrary Botanical Garden, the largest subtropical park in Russia.
But it was time to make the one-hour drive from Sochi to Krasnaya Polyana, home to the Rosa Khutor alpine ski resort. It is probably the world's largest construction projects already topping 50 billion dollars. Besides the six new stadiums, there are new roads, high speed rail, bridges, tunnels, hotels, villages, a theme park and a new huge power grid to run it all.
The Western Caucasus mountains surrounding Polyana are breathtaking. The snow is remarkable, especially considering that one is near a seaside resort. From some of the runs one can, on a clear day observe the Black Sea. In the summer the temperatures in Sochi can rise above 100 degrees with abundant humidity. Skiing on North American-type snow with brilliant sunshine is unique for Europe. The downhill courses are challenging and the mountain is served by modern Poma gondolas and chairlifts. They worked well for the most part except one day when a power outage kept skiers waiting for about 45 minutes.
The weather above Sochi is very unpredictable. Exactly one year before the Sochi games are to begin there was no snow.

President Putin loves Sochi and goes to his dacha there as often as he can. It is where he gave Gerard Depardieu his Russian passport. But Putin wasn't happy about the building of the Gorki ski jump which has already cost an estimated $265 million and still not finished ... so some heads rolled. In Russia the ruling powers can move heaven and earth to get things done and at Sochi, that seems to be happening right now.
