Medina

Medina (/məˈdiːnə/; Arabic: المدينة المنورة‎, al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah, "the radiant city"; or المدينة, al-Madīnah, "the city"), also transliterated as Madīnah, is a city in the Hejaz, and the capital of the Al Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. The city contains al-Masjid an-Nabawi ("the Prophet's Mosque"), which is the burial place of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and is the second-holiest city in Islam after Mecca.

Medina was Muhammad's destination after his Hijrah from Mecca, and became the capital of a rapidly increasing Muslim Empire, first under Muhammad's leadership, and then under the first four Rashidun caliphs, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. It served as the power base of Islam in its first century where the early Muslim community developed. Medina is home to the three oldest mosques, namely the Quba Mosque, al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and Masjid al-Qiblatayn ("the mosque of the two qiblas"). Muslims believe that the chronologically final surahs of the Quran were revealed to Muhammad in Medina, and are called Medinan surahs in contrast to the earlier Meccan surahs.

Saudi Arabia (ⁱ/ˌsɔːdiː əˈreɪbiə/, ⁱ/ˌsaʊ-/), officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), is an Arab state in Western Asia constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula. With a land area of approximately 2,150,000 km² (830,000 sq mi), Saudi Arabia is geographically the second-largest state in the Arab world after Algeria. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, and Yemen to the south. The area of modern-day Saudi Arabia formerly consisted of four distinct regions: Hejaz, Najd, and parts of Eastern Arabia (Al-Ahsa) and Southern Arabia ('Asir). The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud. The country has since been an absolute monarchy, effectively a hereditary dictatorship governed along Islamic lines. The ultra-conservative Wahhabism religious movement within Sunni Islam has been called "the predominant feature of Saudi culture", with its global spreading largely financed by the oil and gas trade. Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam. The Kingdom has a total population of 28.7 million, of which 20 million are Saudi nationals and 8 million are foreigners.

It is the most praiseworthy work to earn Allah's pleasure, What The Qur'an Says About Dhikr-Allah "Those who remember Allah while standing , sitting, and lying on their sides" (3:191) (Quran and Durud Shareef Khatam falls into it) "Those men and women who engage much in Allah's praise. For them has Allah prepared forgiveness and a great reward." (33:35) (Quran and Durud Shareef Khatam falls into it) "He is successful who purifies himself, and remembers the name of his Lord, and so prays." (87:14-15) Allah Ta'ala said in His Book: "And mention the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion" (73:8). "Those who believe, and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah! " Behold in the Remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction." (13-28) "O ye who believe let not your riches or your children divert you from the Remembrance of Allah if any act thus, the loss is their own." (63:9) "Then do ye remember Me I will remember you." (2-152) What Ahadith Say About Dhikr-Allah Hadith Qudsi, "Those that remember Me in their heart, I remember them in My heart; and those that remember Me in a gathering (i.e. that make mention of Me), I remember them (i.e. make mention of them) in a gathering better than theirs." Hadhrat Jabir (Radi Allahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (Peace be upon him), said: "The best remembrance of Allah is to repeat la ilaha illallah and the best prayer (du'a) is al-hamdu lillah (all praise belongs to Allah)." (Narrated by Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, and Hakim who declared its chain sound) The Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: "Remember Allah Ta'ala as much as you want, until people say that you are crazy and foolish" (Narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad, Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, and al-Hakim who declared it sahih); Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu anhum ajma'een)reported that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "When any group of men remember Allah, angels surround them and mercy covers them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them to those who are with Him." Narrated by Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and Bayhaqi. Abu Hurairah related that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) passed by him while he was planting a seedling. He said, "Say: Subhanallah, walhamdulillah, wa laa ilaaha illa Allah, wallahu akbar (Glory be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is none worthy of worhip except Allah, and Allah is the greatest). For each one, a tree will be planted for you in Jannah." Abu Dharr reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "The words dearest to Allah are: subhanAllah wa bihamdihi. - SubhanAllahi 'l-`adheem wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah, The Supreme, and Praise Him) A palm tree is planted for the reciter [of the above] in Paradise. - SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme) holy Al-Qur'an 33:56 instructs us to read Durood Shareef. Almighty Allah says: "Surely Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim). O you who believe! Send Blessings (Durood) and Salutations (Salaams) on the Prophet with worthy Salutation".(Surah al-Ahzab: 56) Hazrat Anas (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim) said: "He who reads a single Durood upon me, Almighty Allah blesses him ten times, ten of his sins are forgiven, and he is increased ten times in stages (internally). (Mishkaat) Hazrat Abdullah ibn Ma'sud (radi Allahu anhu) also narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim) said: "On the Day of Qiyamah, the closest to me from among the people will be those who have read the most amount of Durood Shareef". (Tirmidhi) Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA), a companion of the Holy Prophet (Sollallaahu 'Alaihi wa sallam), says that Sayyiduna Rasoolullaah (sollallaahu 'Alaihi wa sallam) said that if a man recites the following Durood Shareef once, Jazallaahu 'Annaa sayyidinaa wa mowlaanaa muHammadan Sollalaahu 'Alayhi wa sallam maa huwa ahluhuu. "O Allaah! Give reward to our Leader MuHammad (Sollallaahu 'Alayhi wa sallam) the reward which is benefitting as he deserves". then for the coming 1000 days the 70 Angels of Allaah ta'AAla will be busy in writing reward for the reciter of this Durood (HADITH RECORDED IN TABRAANI ON THE AUTHORITY OF ABDULLAAH IBN ABBAAS)

Mecca, the holiest city in Islam is only 70 km from Jeddah where I was staying for a few weeks. Mecca is where Prophet Mohammed was born and where the Quoran was composed. I was surprised to see that Mecca was actually a big city, in my mind, I always thought that it was a small holy place with the Kabaa. The Kabaa is a cubical shaped building, covered with a beautiful black cloth embroidered with gold Quranic verses. All Muslims around the world face the Kaaba during prayers, no matter where they are When performing piligrimage, Muslims walk around the Kaaba 7 times while reciting verses. When reaching the spot of the Black Stone (in the eastern corner of the kabaa), the piligrims salute it. It is believed that this stone fell from Heaven. the piligrims also drink ZamZam water, the holy water that was revealed to Hagar, Abraham's wife, when she desperately was looking for water in the desert. The mosque within the Kabaa location is beautiful. Its arches interlace in an infinite design. More than 15 million Muslims visit Mecca every year and I was amazed how clean and spotless it was! Bestow blessings on our patron Sayyidina Muhammad, as many times as the number of things created by You. In the same way, there is salawaat on the Holy Prophet Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam as many times as are the (uncountable) Words of Allah ('adada Kalimaatika), as many times as the Pen Wrote in the Mother of Books ('adada maa jaraa bihi'l Qalamu fee Ummi'l Kitab), the number of stars ('adada nujoomi's samaa), the number of leaves of trees ('adada awraaqil ashjaar), the number of men and women (adad-an-nisaai warrijaal), and so on. Allahumma Salli 'alaa Muhammad-in 'Adada kulli qatratin qatarat min Samaawaatika ilaa Ardhika Min yaumi khalaqtaddunya ilaa yaumi'l qiyaamati Fee kulli yaumin alfa marrah O Allah! Bestow blessings on Sayyidina Muhammad as many times as the number of rain drops that drop from Your sky to Your earth from the day You created the earth till the Day of Judgement a thousand-fold a day! Besides As-Salatu'l Ibrahimiyyah, Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam also taught his sahaba (companions) many other salawaat. Allahumma Salli 'alaa Muhammad-in Wa anzilhu'l maq'adal muqarraba 'indaka yauma'l qiyamah Wajabat lahu shafa'atee. He said, may blessings and salutations be upon him, "My intercession is obligatory on whoever recites (this salaat): O Allah! Bestow blessings on Sayyidina Muhammad and give him a seat near You on the Day of Judgement". Dalaail u'l Khayraat contains this salaat but with slightly different wording as follows: Allahumma Salli 'alaa Sayyidina Muhammad-in Wa anzilhu'l manzila'l muqarraba yauma'l qiyamah O Allah! Bestow blessings on Sayyidina Muhammad and give him a place nearby on the Day of Judgement. If you send blessings on the Holy Prophet Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam once, Allah sends blessings on you ten times, according to a hadith narrated by Hadhrat 'Abdullah bin 'Amr ibn al-'Aas Rady Allahu 'Anhu and reported in Sahih Muslim. Salaat by Imam Shaf'i Rahmatullahi 'alaih Wa Sallallahu 'alaa Muhammad-in Kullamaa zakara hu'z-zaakiroon Wa ghafala 'an zikri hi'l ghaafiloon And blessings of Allah be on Sayyidina Muhammad whenever he is remembered by those who remember and whenever he is not remembered by the negligent. Does anything make for a more total Zikr than this salaat? Allahumma Salli 'alaa Muhammad-in Wa 'alaa aali Muhammad-in Mil'ad-dunyaa wa mil'al aakhirah Wa baarik 'alaa Muhammad-in Wa 'alaa aali Muhammad-in Mil'ad-dunyaa wa mil'al aakhirah O Allah! Bestow blessings on Sayyidina Muhammad and on the family of Sayyidina Muhammad that would fill this world and the next, and bestow favours on Sayyidina Muhammad and on the family of Sayyidina Muhammad that would fill this world and the next, Salaat u's Sa'adah Allahumma Salli 'alaa Sayyidina Muhammad-in 'Adada maa fee 'Ilmillah Salaatan daaimatan bidawaami Mulkillah O Allah! It is the only nation with both a Red Sea coast and a Persian Gulf coast, and most of its terrain consists of arid inhospitable desert or barren landforms. The area of modern-day Saudi Arabia formerly consisted of four distinct regions: Hejaz, Najd, and parts of Eastern Arabia (Al-Ahsa) and Southern Arabia ('Asir).[10] The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud. The country has since been an absolute monarchy governed along Islamic lines. Wahhabi Islam has been called "the predominant feature of Saudi culture".[11][12] Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam.
