Follow Kristen on her 29th birthday as she undergoes a breast augmentation with Dr. David Kim of Beverly Hill Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kim was born and raised in the Chicago area. After surgical residency in Chicago he moved to New York to train at Montefiore medical center. He then moved to the Los Angeles area and joined a group in Beverly Hills where he honed his skills as a cosmetic plastic surgeon.
Also known as augmentation mammoplasty, breast augmentation involves using implants to create fuller breasts or to restore breasts that may have lost volume due to weight loss or from pregnancy. Rachel has decided to have Breast Augmentation with Dr. David Kim and to have the newly FDA approved Gummy bear or Teardrop implants. Follow along as we take you through her entire experience with this procedure.
In an attempt to mimic the natural shape of the breast, form stable implants are designed to look like a tear drop, thicker at the bottom and tapered towards the top. To maintain this shape, the silicone gel in the implant is firmer than that which is routinely found in a round implant. The consistency of the gel inside the implant is thicker, and maintains its shape even when the implant is cut in half. Therefore these types of implants are commonly referred to as 'gummy bear implants'.
Form stable implants offer an additional option for women desiring breast augmentation surgery. As with all devices, these implants have advantages and disadvantages. Before choosing an implant, every patient should discuss the potential risks and benefits with her surgeon, as form stable implants may not be the optimal choice for each woman.
One of the purported advantages of form stable implants is that they match the shape of the natural breast, giving more fullness to the bottom of the breast. Comprised of a stiffer gel, less wrinkling of the implant is expected, and some women desire the additional firmness of the implant. Finally, because they are all textured, there is some evidence to suggest that the patient's risk of developing a capsular contracture around the implant could be lessened.
Disadvantages include potential rotation of the implant in which case the thicker part of the implant can distort the breast's shape. Because the gel is thicker, a slightly longer incision to insert them is often necessary. Some women also disapprove of the gel's consistency. Of course, form stable implants also share risks common to all breast implants including rare cases of infection, bleeding and implant rupture.

A breast implant is a medical prosthesis used to augment, reconstruct, or create the physical form of breasts. Applications include correcting the size, form, and feel of a woman’s breasts in post–mastectomy breast reconstruction; for correcting congenital defects and deformities of the chest wall; for aesthetic breast augmentation; and for creating breasts in the male-to-female transsexual patient.
There are three general types of breast implant device, defined by the filler material: saline, silicone, and composite. The saline implant has an elastomer silicone shell filled with sterile saline solution; the silicone implant has an elastomer silicone shell filled with viscous silicone gel; and the alternative composition implants featured miscellaneous fillers, such as soy oil, polypropylene string, et cetera. In surgical practice, for the reconstruction of a breast, the tissue expander device is a temporary breast prosthesis used to form and establish an implant pocket for the permanent breast implant. For the correction of male breast and chest-wall defects and deformities, the pectoral implant is the breast prosthesis used for the reconstruction and the aesthetic repair of a man’s chest. Rachel has decided to have Breast Augmentation with Dr. David Kim and to have the newly FDA approved Gummy bear or Teardrop implants. Follow along as we take you through her entire experience with this procedure.
In an attempt to mimic the natural shape of the breast, form stable implants are designed to look like a tear drop, thicker at the bottom and tapered towards the top. To maintain this shape, the silicone gel in the implant is firmer than that which is routinely found in a round implant. The consistency of the gel inside the implant is thicker, and maintains its shape even when the implant is cut in half. Therefore these types of implants are commonly referred to as 'gummy bear implants'.
Form stable implants offer an additional option for women desiring breast augmentation surgery. As with all devices, these implants have advantages and disadvantages. Before choosing an implant, every patient should discuss the potential risks and benefits with her surgeon, as form stable implants may not be the optimal choice for each woman.
One of the purported advantages of form stable implants is that they match the shape of the natural breast, giving more fullness to the bottom of the breast. Comprised of a stiffer gel, less wrinkling of the implant is expected, and some women desire the additional firmness of the implant. Finally, because they are all textured, there is some evidence to suggest that the patient's risk of developing a capsular contracture around the implant could be lessened.
Disadvantages include potential rotation of the implant in which case the thicker part of the implant can distort the breast's shape. Because the gel is thicker, a slightly longer incision to insert them is often necessary. Some women also disapprove of the gel's consistency. Of course, form stable implants also share risks common to all breast implants including rare cases of infection, bleeding and implant rupture.

Hi Guys! Today I'm talking all about my breast augmentation experience from exact cost to pain, pills, and size/shape, etc. I tried to go as in depth as I possibly could, but I totally forgot to talk about the day of surgery! Just to briefly go over it...it was all a blur lol. They give you anesthetic and I don't even remember Doug driving me home!!!haha which sounds scary, but I promise you don't really want to remember the few moments after surgery..although I didn't feel a ton of pain right after, just discomfort. Before the surgery I was hardly nervous. I think because I know so many girls that have already got it done and it's the most studied procedure ever in history! So I was confident in my doctor that he knew what I wanted in the end. I hope you find this helpful and let me know any questions you might have!:)

I got breast implants in 2008, and this is my story about why.
I'm 5'11" and naturally pretty thin. I'm also 37 years old with 5 kids. So I guess it's natural for people to wonder about my boobs - how big they are, how they haven't been destroyed by breastfeeding for 98 months of my life so far...
I've been carrying a huge fear about publicly sharing my decision to get breast implants (which I got in 2008, before I was on YouTube and when my third child was almost 5 years old).
I was worried that my audience would judge me - criticize me for a very personal decision that I'm very happy about. But if I'm going to get online and talk about living truth and being light and feeling free to express yourself as you are, then I had to come out and walk my talk (even if it was a private choice).
Another truth is that everyone in my real life knows. It has never been a secret. Even colleagues in my industry know. It's never been a big deal for me to talk openly about them when asked. I'm not sure why I was so afraid of sharing with all of you...
The decision to share was made in the spur of the moment - how I make most of my best and scariest decisions. I was shaking with nerves, and my heart was beating a mile a minute. But I did it anyway.
That's the lesson. Feel the fear, and do the damn thing anyway.
