Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods (born December 30, 1975) is an American professional golfer who is among the most successful golfers of all time. He has been one of the highest-paid athletes in the world for several years.
Following an outstanding amateur and two-year college golf career, Woods turned professional at age 20 in late summer 1996. By April 1997 he had already won his first major, the 1997 Masters in a record-breaking performance, winning the tournament by 12 strokes and pocketing $486,000. He first reached the number one position in the world rankings in June 1997. Through the 2000s, Woods was the dominant force in golf, spending 264 weeks from August 1999 to September 2004 and 281 weeks from June 2005 to October 2010 as World Number One.
From December 2009 to early April 2010, Woods took leave from professional golf to focus on his marriage after he admitted infidelity, but he and his wife Elin Nordegren eventually divorced. His many extramarital indiscretions were revealed by several different women, through many worldwide media sources. This was followed by a loss of golf form, and his ranking gradually fell to a low of No. 58 in November 2011. He ended a career-high winless streak of 107 weeks when he captured the Chevron World Challenge in December 2011. After winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 25, 2013, he ascended to the No.1 ranking once again, holding the top spot until May 2014. Woods had back disc surgery in April 2014, and has struggled since to regain his dominant form. By March 29, 2015, Woods had fallen to #104, outside of the top 100 for the first time since the week prior to his first Tour title win in 1996.

2016 Open Championship: 4 talking points Cape Town - Hendrik Stenson claimed his first major victory in a thrilling final round of the 145th Open Championship at Royal Troon, finishing at 20-under 264 on Sunday. Here are some talking points and highlights from the 145th Open Championship: 1. Stenson’s historic win It’s been a long time coming for the 40-year-old Swedish golfer, but he finally clinched his first major on Sunday in a nail-biting toe-to-toe contest with Phil Mickelson to become the first Scandinavian man to win a major. His 20-under-par total of 264 was a record low at the Open at Royal Troon thumping past Justin Leonard’s 12-under-par win in 1997. Stenson’s final-round 63 ties with Mickelson (who achieved this feat on day one at the Open) for the lowest score ever shot ...
The 2016 Open Championship was the 145th Open Championship, played 14–17 July at Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland. It was the ninth Open Championship played at the Old Course of Troon, and the fifth since gaining royal status. The Open was won by Henrik Stenson who achieved a record 20 under par. He became the first Scandinavian man to win a major title. This was the first Open Championship with live domestic television coverage on Sky Sports, after it had been shown on the BBC from 1955 to 2015.[3] BBC TV coverage was a two-hour highlights programme each evening.[4] The Open Championship was covered by Group B of the Ofcom Code on Sports and Other Listed and Designated Events which meant that highlights must be made available to all television viewers, particularly those who do...

A 90-minute edit of Sunday's broadcast, 2006-07-23, preceded by brief clips from Friday & Saturday. The ABC affiliate (WBRZ) cut away early to show a Brady Bunch rerun, but I've included most of the afternoon wrap-up show, containing portions of the Claret Jug presentation. Tiger Woods begins the final round at 13-under, one ahead of Chris DiMarco, Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia.
Tiger Woods' pro career turned 20 years old this week. His debut at the Greater Milwaukee Open came in August 1996 where he made the cut but didn't contend for the win. There was an incredible interview Woods gave that week to Curtis Strange where he discussed what he wanted to do as a pro. The words coming out of Woods' mouth are far less captivating than the faces Strange makes when Woods says them. It's as if he's never experienced a golfer who plays and thinks like Tiger did (and does). In retrospect, his career is more easily explained. Woods came on to the PGA Tour at a time where players were just trying to make cuts, just trying to grind out money and move on to the next week. Woods didn't think like that. He didn't need to. Nike subsidized his career in a way that allowed him to o...

There is something wrong inside my head
Gotta find a way
Gotta let go of everything you said
Gotta find a place
Where I can hide away
When I close my eyes
It's darker then anything
When I close my eyes
Feels like I'm falling down
When will plastic people understand
I'm dreaming and they pick you up just to tie you down
I'm sad to say, they turned away
When I close my eyes
It's darker then anything
When I close my eyes
Wishing the world away
When I close my eyes
Feels like I'm falling down
Down, down, down, down...
