Our sea kayak safari gives you the opportunity to see Sweden by Kayak, and is based on the beautiful west coast of Sweden. The good water temperatures and non-tidal nature of the water ensure that people of all levels of kayaking proficiency can take part, and we also have hundreds of idyllic private islands to camp on each evening. If you are new to kayaking we include pre trip training days in the UK to gain some basic skills before departure and will coach and guide you throughout the trip. For the experienced we have the top of the range sea kayaks to explore some of the best locations on the west coast of Sweden with either solo or tandem options available for all levels. Day 1. Arrive Gothenburg by midday and start road trip to Ramsvik approx.145 KM (1hr 45 mins drive time). Rest of day at rest staying in the boathouse cottage 100 metres away from the sea! Day 2. Spend the morning packing boats and preparing to depart. After lunch we start our journey with an afternoon paddle to our first remote island. All food - breakfast, lunch and evening meals are included on the kayak journey. Day 3. Travel approx. 17km through many small islands towards the town of Bovallstrand and past the stonecarver village of Hunnebostrand. We spend the night camped out on the island of Lilla Hamburgo. Day 4. Today's paddle will take us through one of the most spectacular archipeloagos on this coastline and a journey of approx. 15 km. We pass through narrow channels, old west coast buildings and even Ingrid Bergmans summer retreat. We end the day on one of the nicest camping spots on Stora Makholman. Day 5. Head around the big island of Otteron and pass the small village of Grabbetstad. A change from the more open coast to calmer sheltered routes through the islands passing the village of Fjallbacka. We complete our 15km journey on the island of Valo where we stay in the comfort of the Hotel for our last night on the islands. There is a great hike to the top of the island which is the highest in the archipelago and offers some stunning views. . Day 6. Pack our kayaks for the last time for the short 3km paddle across to Fjallbacka. There will be time to explore this amazing village whilst we return the kayaks and collect our return vehicle. We then travel back to Gothenburg and our return flight home.

No children, no partner, no work. But you still have to call and check in, of course, to confirm proof of life, your partner tells you with a certain sardonic tone. You obviously have to read emails too, just in case your office forecasts the apocalypse and you aren’t there to say ‘I knew it, I saw it coming’. The modern holiday has become a Living TV documentary, where you board a low-cost flight and head somewhere ‘warm’ to try and get business-grade drunk. There are only a few differences between business drunk and normal drunk: business drunk means it’s still acceptable to drive. Of course, even if you aren’t aiming for a tourist hotspot destination, chances are you will have to encounter the proletariat ‘on tour’ at the airport. Cue the whiskey and narcotics to dull the ache. So, how does one escape the confines of modern life when you are effectively off-grid, but still maintain some semblance of luxury. I imagined myself backed into a corner in a bitterly cold forest with a pack of feral wolves baying for blood, armed with nothing more than my camera and perhaps a well-scrimshawed knife. Who would you want there to back you up? Luckily, there weren’t many wolves around, our guide Fredrik told me. Only a few bears. Great. I expect most people like to travel with a group of friends, family, well-known individuals who you know you will have a great time with, and won’t grate on each other.
