VITAE: Chourmouzios (
Charis) Daravanoglou was born in
Constantinople by virtuous parents
Alexander & Tzouzepin. His encyclical studies were fulfilled by
Great School of
Genus, a school that was a spiritual lighthouse not only for Orthodoxy but
Hellenism as well. His aptitude since was a child towards
Byzantine Ecclesiastical Music is due to his late ever memorable father, who was an amateur chanter, while his first teacher in chant art was music pedant late ever memorable priest Alexiadis Athanasios. Distinguished for his Byzantine Ecclesiastical Music aptitude he was asked to serve as cantor to
Holy Churches Evagelistria Vafiochorio (Bogiatzikioi) and
Saint Constantine &
Helen Ipsomathion. His excellent beautiful voice contributed so to very soon expand his reputation. Certainly this resulted to be chosen by at that time cantor of the Holy
Church Saint Demetrios Tataoulon & now Archon cantor of Holy
Great Church of Christ Messrs. Asteri
Leonidas as his prime lambadario. As main teachers he had El. Georgiadis, former Archon lambadario of
G.C.C. & late ever memorable
Constantinopolitan Gartzoglou
Achilles & cantor of
Holly Church of
Zoodochos Pigi Baloukli & also Archon cantor of
H.G.C. of C. Nikolaidis Vasilios. It would be omission if there were not any mention about his participation as a member to the great Byzantine Constantinopolitan
Friends of music
Chorus & further more under the teaching and administration of vocalist Nikolaidis Vasilios.At the year
1980 he established permanently in
Greece & took part for three consecutive years to the choir of the late Constantinopolitan cantor Magouri Dimitrios from which he taught also lessons in private.Since then he is appointed as cantor to Holy Churches Assumption in New Iraklio,
Saint Anastasia Farmakolitria in Perissos,
Prophet Elias in
Pagrati under order of blessed
Archbishop of Athens & All Greece Serafim & now he chants to Holly Church of
Saint Spiridon Patron of
Piraeus.In the places that he chanted always he administered apt Byzantine choirs. And in
Athens he continued to be a member of the chorus of
Association of Constantinopolitan Friends of
Music in Greece, as a teacher & Manager, since he succeeded the late ever memorable G. Tsaousis.On the occasion of fifty years since the foundation of
Greek Education, he was assigned by its administration to present Byzantine Ecclesiastical
Hymns with students of its Schools in the
Athens Concert Hall in June 2008.Tirelessly he teaches up to date in the
School V.E.M. of Holy
Metropolis in New
Ionia &
Philadelphia. He is actively involved with folk song & even accompanied by tradition instruments.
Composer Christodoulos Chalaris invited him to sing in concerts both in Greece & abroad. He especially was loved as a cantor with a special personality & for that reason he urged to chant in churches fairs all over Greece. Also he was invited and chanted in
New York and
Astoria.He issued cassettes, compact discs and he took place as a musical producer in 89,4
FM radio station of Greece Church who there he, for many years, presented the
National Music.His interest for psalm branch is manifested through his involvement to unionism, elected as
Secretary of Chanters Association of
Attica called "
Thrasivoulos Stanitsas".Many celebrities honored him with their friendship & cooperation, as for instance the late ever memorable

Patriarchate of Jerusalem with a special cross & a relevant accompanied ecclesiastical document, of Association of Constantinopolitan Friends of Music in Greece, of V.E.M. friends Association, of Chanters
Federation Association of Holy Archdiocese in Athens supreme honorary praise, of the Holy Great Church of Christ the ecclesiastical title of Archon
Music teacher. Declaring his opinion his All-Holiness
Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. BARTHOLOMEW rewarded him for his dedication, commitment and pride.His ordination to this ecclesiastical title took place for the name of Archbishop of Ecumenical
Throne by the
Venerable Metropolitan in New Ionia & Philadelphia Messrs. Constantine, before a crowded congregation and musical chanters and music lovers. His All-Holiness Messrs. BARTHOLOMEW holds that henceforth "the so called music scholar Mr. Chourmouzios Daravanoglou from now on he is to be called Music
Scholar Archon Musical Teacher of Holy Great Church of Christ & is to receive the adequate honor always and by all".
