Shogun
A Shogun (将軍, Shōgun, [ɕoːɡu͍ɴ], "general", literally "military commander") was a hereditary military dictator in Japan during the period from 1192 to 1867. In this period, the shoguns were the de facto rulers of the country, although nominally they were appointed by the Emperor as a formality. The Shogun held almost absolute power over territories through military means, in contrast to the concept of a colonial governor in Western culture. Nevertheless, an unusual situation occurred in the Kamakura period (1199-1333) upon the death of the first shogun, whereby the Hōjō clan's hereditary titles of Shikken and Tokuso (1256-1333) monopolized the shogunate, collectively known as the Regent Rule (執権政治). The shogun during this period met the same fate as the Emperor and was reduced to a figurehead until a coup in 1333, when the shogun was restored to power.
The modern rank of shogun is roughly equivalent to a generalissimo. The title of shogun, is the short form of Sei-i Taishōgun (征夷大将軍, literally "Commander-in-Chief of the Expeditionary Force Against the Barbarians"); the individual governing the country at various times in the history of Japan, ending when Tokugawa Yoshinobu relinquished the office to the Emperor Meiji in 1867.

Shōgun (novel)
Shōgun is a 1975 novel by James Clavell. It is the first novel (by internal chronology) of the author's Asian Saga. A major bestseller, by 1990 the book had sold 15 million copies worldwide. Beginning in feudal Japan some months before the critical Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Shōgun gives an account of the rise of the daimyo "Toranaga" (based upon the actual Tokugawa Ieyasu). Toranaga's rise to the Shogunate is seen through the eyes of the English sailor John Blackthorne, called Anjin ("Pilot") by the Japanese, whose fictional heroics are loosely based on the historical exploits of William Adams.
Plot
Feudal Japan in 1600 is in a precarious peace. The heir to the Taiko is too young to rule, and the most powerful five overlords of the land hold power as a council of regents. Portugal, with its vast sea power, and the Catholic Church, mainly through the Order of the Jesuits, have gained a foothold in Japan and seek to extend their power. But Japanese society is insular and xenophobic. Guns and Europe's modern military capabilities are still a novelty and despised as a threat to Japan's traditional samurai warrior culture.

Shogun (Stormwitch album)
Shogun was the seventh album by the German heavy metal band Stormwitch, released in 1994. It is probably the most controversial of Stormwitch's albums and poorly received by fans due to its almost entirely different sound, with progressive elements and very little of their classic heavy metal styles. It also marked the end of their original span which has lasted from 1982-1994. The album was the first to feature only one guitarist, making a four member band.
The album is a concept album, based on James Clavell's novel; Shōgun. The lyrics all revolve around parts from the novel referring to both names and places. It is the second album in a row released by Stormwitch to feature a novel based concept, the first being War Of The Wizards.

Kish (Bible)
Kish (קיש qish; Kis, Keis, "bow," "power") (c. 1104 – c. 1029 BC) was the father of the first king of the Israelites, Saul. (1 Chronicles 12:1)
Life
Kish was a Benjamite of the family of the Matrites (1 Samuel 9:1; 14:51; Acts 13:21; 1 Samuel 10:21), and there is some question over whether he is the brother or son of Ner (1 Chronicles 8:33 and 9:39; 1 Samuel 14:51; 1 Chronicles 6:28). The question may be resolved by reading both Ner and Kish as sons of Abiel.
Residence
It appears that Kish resided at Gibeah. His sepulcher is said to be in Zela, in the region of Benjamin in modern-day Israel. (2 Samuel 21:14)
Other biblical figures named Kish
"Kish" is also the name of one of Mordecai's ancestors. Many equate him with the above, but some, including Ibn Ezra, argue that this is a different Kish.
There is also another Kish named in 1 Chronicles 23:22.

Kish (Sumerian: Kiš; transliteration: Kiŝki; cuneiform: 𒆧𒆠;Akkadian: kiššatu) was an ancient city of Sumer in Mesopotamia, considered to have been located near the modern Tell al-Uhaymir in the Babil Governorate of Iraq, some 12 km east of Babylon and 80 km south of Baghdad.
History
Kish was occupied from the Jemdet Nasr period (ca. 3100 BC), gaining prominence as one of the pre-eminent powers in the region during the early dynastic period.
The Sumerian king list states that Kish was the first city to have kings following the deluge, beginning with Jushur. Jushur's successor is called Kullassina-bel, but this is actually a sentence in Akkadian meaning "All of them were lord". Thus, some scholars have suggested that this may have been intended to signify the absence of a central authority in Kish for a time. The names of the next nine kings of Kish preceding Etana are all Akkadian words for animals, e.g. Zuqaqip "scorpion". The East Semitic nature of these and other early names associated with Kish reveals that its population had a strong Semitic (Akkadian speaking) component from the dawn of recorded history,Ignace Gelb identified Kish as the center of the earliest East Semitic culture which he calls the Kish civilization.

What’s poppin’, Barbarians? It’s me MT and welcome back to the Heavy Spoilers show! Heavy Spoilers coming up for the Shogun series from FX because we’re about to get into it! So grab your favorite katana or blunderbuss and let’s cover this conflict!
After an insanely stressful season of playing politics and slaying assassins, the final episode of the Shogun series of course ends with Yoshii Taranga on top…thanks to the brave and noble sacrifice of Mariko at the end of Episode 9. As much as many people wanted Mariko to walk away from that explosion unscathed, she took the full force of that impact…leaving John Blackthorn to grieve the loss of the only woman that he loved…well…the second woman that he loved. Dude has a whole wife and family back over in England that he totally ditched in favor of sailing the high seas…but luckily for John, the concept of paying child support wasn’t invented yet so you could just do shit like that. But anyways, as the true operative behind Yoshii Taranaga’s “Crimson Sky” offensive to take the capital, Mariko’s true role as a hostage inside of Osaka Castle was to do what Toranaga never could…change the heart of Lady Ochiba, Mariko’s childhood friend and POLITICAL ROLE HERE. Through Mariko’s sacrifice, Ochiba’s extremely hardened heart towards Toranaga would soften just enough for her to shift her influence from Ishido’s army to Toranga’s army…thus causing all of the other houses that were following Ishido to be forced to ally themselves under the banner of The Heir.

What’s poppin’, Barbarians? It’s me MT and welcome back to the Heavy Spoilers show! Heavy Spoilers coming up for the Shogun series from FX because we’re about to get into it! So grab your favorite katana or blunderbuss and let’s cover this conflict!
After an insanely stressful season of playing politics and slaying assassins, the final episode of the Shogun series of course ends with Yoshii Taranga on top…thanks to the brave and noble sacrifice of Mariko at the end of Episode 9. As much as many people wanted Mariko to walk away from that explosion unscathed, she took the full force of that impact…leaving John Blackthorn to grieve the loss of the only woman that he loved…well…the second woman that he loved. Dude has a whole wife and family back over in England that he totally ditched in favor of sailing the high seas…but luckily for John, the concept of paying child support wasn’t invented yet so you could just do shit like that. But anyways, as the true operative behind Yoshii Taranaga’s “Crimson Sky” offensive to take the capital, Mariko’s true role as a hostage inside of Osaka Castle was to do what Toranaga never could…change the heart of Lady Ochiba, Mariko’s childhood friend and POLITICAL ROLE HERE. Through Mariko’s sacrifice, Ochiba’s extremely hardened heart towards Toranaga would soften just enough for her to shift her influence from Ishido’s army to Toranga’s army…thus causing all of the other houses that were following Ishido to be forced to ally themselves under the banner of The Heir.

Shogun
A Shogun (将軍, Shōgun, [ɕoːɡu͍ɴ], "general", literally "military commander") was a hereditary military dictator in Japan during the period from 1192 to 1867. In this period, the shoguns were the de facto rulers of the country, although nominally they were appointed by the Emperor as a formality. The Shogun held almost absolute power over territories through military means, in contrast to the concept of a colonial governor in Western culture. Nevertheless, an unusual situation occurred in the Kamakura period (1199-1333) upon the death of the first shogun, whereby the Hōjō clan's hereditary titles of Shikken and Tokuso (1256-1333) monopolized the shogunate, collectively known as the Regent Rule (執権政治). The shogun during this period met the same fate as the Emperor and was reduced to a figurehead until a coup in 1333, when the shogun was restored to power.
The modern rank of shogun is roughly equivalent to a generalissimo. The title of shogun, is the short form of Sei-i Taishōgun (征夷大将軍, literally "Commander-in-Chief of the Expeditionary Force Against the Barbarians"); the individual governing the country at various times in the history of Japan, ending when Tokugawa Yoshinobu relinquished the office to the Emperor Meiji in 1867.
