They were released right before Franklin Delano Roosevelt's election to the presidency and both became number one hits on the charts. The Brunswick Crosby recording became the best-selling record of its period, and came to be viewed as an anthem of the shattered dreams of the era.

"Spare the rod and spoil the child" is a saying that has governed the idea of parenting for many years.
A study conducted by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health suggests that parents should reconsider spanking their children before the age of two. Children that receive physical chastisement prior to two years-old may have increased behaviors challenges during their school-age years.
Researcher Kathy Stansbury and colleagues performed a study on the effects of spanking. Researchers in this study watched 106 public caregiver-child interactions that involved a child refusing to comply with a request and the caregiver having to correct the child.

Blues is a genre and musical form that originated in African-American communities in the "Deep South" of the United States around the end of the 19th century. The genre is a fusion of traditional African music and European folk music, spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads. The blues form, ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues and rock and roll, is characterized by the call-and-response pattern and specific chord progressions, of which the twelve-bar blues is the most common. The blue notes are also an important part of the sound. Blues shuffles or walking bass reinforce the trance-like rhythm and form a repetitive effect called a groove.
Blues as a genre possesses other characteristics such as lyrics, bass lines, and instruments. The lyrics of early traditional blues verses consisted of a single line repeated four times. It was only in the first decades of the 20th century that the most common current structure became standard: the so-called AAB pattern, consisting of a line sung over the four first bars, its repetition over the next four, and then a longer concluding line over the last bars. Early blues frequently took the form of a loose narrative, often relating troubles experienced within African American society.
Many blues elements, such as the call-and-response format and the use of blue notes, can be traced back to the music of Africa. The origins of the blues are also closely related to the religious music of the Afro-American community, the spirituals. The first appearance of the blues is often dated to after emancipation and, later, the development of juke joints. It is associated with the newly acquired freedom of the enslaved people. Chroniclers began to report about blues music at the dawn of the 20th century. The first publication of blues sheet music was in 1908. Blues has since evolved from unaccompanied vocal music and oral traditions of slaves into a wide variety of styles and sub-genres. Blues sub-genres include country blues, such as Delta and Piedmont, as well as urban blues styles such as Chicago and West Coast blues. World War II marked the transition from acoustic to electric blues and the progressive opening of blues music to a wider audience, especially white listeners. In the 1960s and 1970s, a hybrid form called blues rock evolved.
The term may have come from the term "blue devils", meaning melancholy and sadness; an early use of the term in this sense is found in George Colman's one-act farce Blue Devils (1798). Though the use of the phrase in African-American music may be older, it has been attested to since 1912, when Hart Wand's "Dallas Blues" became the first copyrighted blues composition. In lyrics the phrase is often used to describe a depressed mood.
The lyrics of early traditional blues verses probably often consisted of a single line repeated four times. It was only in the first decades of the 20th century that the most common current structure became standard: the so-called AAB pattern, consisting of a line sung over the four first bars, its repetition over the next four, and then a longer concluding line over the last bars. Two of the first published blues songs, "Dallas Blues" (1912) and "Saint Louis Blues" (1914), were 12-bar blues featuring the AAB structure. W. C. Handy wrote that he adopted this convention to avoid the monotony of lines repeated three times.[9] The lines are often sung following a pattern closer to a rhythmic talk than to a melody.
Early blues frequently took the form of a loose narrative. The singer voiced his or her "personal woes in a world of harsh reality: a lost love, the cruelty of police officers, oppression at the hands of white folk, [and] hard times." This melancholy has led to the suggestion of an Igbo origin for blues because of the reputation the Igbo had throughout plantations in the Americas for their melancholic music and outlook to life when they were enslaved.

Since the moment she was born, rayna, has brought so much joy and unity to a family that was lost. Seven sisters, 3 brothers and two siblings came to welcome our newest addition 4 years ago.
Rayna has beautiful hazel eyes that change with the clothes she wears and the weather. Those eyes hold such and old soul with immense wisdom and logic. Rayna is the life in any house she visits and has such a humble spirit. Rayna was born to make an impact on this world.
Rayna was diagnosed a week ago today with a malignant tumor in her brain, alongside a blood clot. She had a successful removal of both but not in time to avoid the sugaring of cancer crystals over the top traveling down her spine-- attempting to attack the rest of her little body.
She woke up hours after surgery with a weak smile and as spunky as ever. She told me "aunt marie i'm so sick...please help me" i know i cant do this alone, and in order to get her the best assistance to recover, i am reaching out to all of you that will help get her the proper treatment and save her.
Nothing is too small. Everything is appreciated. Anything you do is enough.
Please be her guardian angel and help us save our little angel - rayna lucia~

The Chrisagis Brothers join their beautiful female singers Jennifer Galownia and Leslie Thermes in a celebration at Club 36 Watchmen Broadcasting Network the song is called "Sing and Shout" written by Stephanie Boosahda. This is the Chrisagis Brothers' new singing team that everyone is raving over and this song is a powerful one of joy and fun for Jesus.
Nationally known Christian Duo the Chrisagis Brothers were up for the best Christian Duo last year in the Heritage Awards & now they are booked non-stop with their new touring music group in the tradition of "The Rat Pack." The Twin Brothers say that they always loved the old "variety show" format & now mixing that type of concert with the message of Jesus is a winning combo that they see lives being changed through at their performances.
We can all learn techniques from the world & bring that into the church to spread the Gospel in a new fun way. To do a show like this the Brothers got acclaimed entertainer, musician & vocalist Ron Retzer who is a staple in the country music Industry to join them in creating the best variety shows ever. Retzer has one of the most amazing vocal ranges and presence on stage you will ever find. He is known as the best etnertainer in the Ohio, West Virginia, & Pennsylvania area... Retzer's also known as the best music arranger around & does all the music in the concerts. Ron is joined by JD (Jeff) Garrison a top songwriter & producer who has played bass along-side of Bruce Springsteen in concert among other big names. Garrison is a seasoned professional that can rock the house down & can bring the entire audience to their knees in worship.
To finish the amazing group the Brothers needed professional vocalist in their area that could sing lead & background harmonies as well, plus perform on stage with them so they enlisted Jennifer Galownia, Bob Wolfe, & Leslie Thermes . The Chrisagis' say that "these three vocalist can sing the phone book & make it a work of art," they are all that good. Jennifer is the Pop singer who can sing & deliver a song like Barbara Streisand or Karen Carpenter. Next in the trio is Bob who is a strong smooth country vocalist who can out-sing any of Country Music's best artists of today, last there is Leslie who can sing sacred church music like Sandi Patty or Natalie Grant.
The concerts are raising a standard in Christian Family Entertianment & it has nothing to do with the lights & glamour so many Christian concerts have become about. These concerts are more about the heart of each performance & the love this team shows through their music, humor & inspiriation setting them apart from the mainstream concerts you see. The group has become so popular with audiences that they are now doing their very own reality TV series with award winning reality producer Steve Haverly that promises to bring family fun back to the air-waves.

Dallas is the ninth most populous city in the United States and the third most populous city in the state of Texas. Dallas makes up one-fifth of the much larger urbanized area known as the Dallas--Fort Worth Metroplex, in which one quarter of all Texans live.
The most important places to visit in Dallas are: Southfork Ranch (it is known worldwide as the filming location for the "Dallas" series. Take a tour of America's most famous ranch), Botanical Garden (discover this wonderful garden in Dallas. The best time to visit is during Spring when thousands of flowers are blooming), Fair Park (home to museums and gardens, it is most famous for the amazing State Fair in the fall), Reunion Tower (one of the most famous landmarks of Dallas. Visitors can even dine at a restaurant at the top of the tower), Dealey Plaza (the site of John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963. It is a national historic landmark and you can see the spot where the fatal shot hit) and many more.
If you want to save time and money, the most important Dallas travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Dallas - Texas - United States Travel guide http://goo.gl/tLsKrZ
Dallas is a young city with all the vigour of youth. Effigies of modern architecture rise like glass trees out of the downtown area. In 1841, it was simply a plan of 20 streets on the 256 hectares (640 acres) of south central America, claimed by a Tennessee lawyer, John Neely Bryan. Today, it is the ninth largest city in the USA, and including its western neighbour of Fort Worth, it is the nation's fastest growing metropolitan area.
Thriving at the bottom edge of America's Great Plains, Dallas has embraced dreamers and entrepreneurs for the better part of two centuries. Big D, as it's affectionately called, merges Southern hospitality with modern sophistication. Though the landscape looks different than at its humble beginning, the city still welcomes enterprising people who gather to share their grand ideas and stake claims on new frontiers.
Dallas will always be remembered for one, if not two, shootings. The first and most shocking occurred on 22 November 1963, when President J F Kennedy was assassinated in downtown Dallas. The second shooting may only have been fictional but, when J R Ewing was shot by an unknown killer in the TV series Dallas in the early 1980s, fans across the world were devastated. Even today, the legend of J R remains strong, as does the legacy of President Kennedy.
Today the city is a mecca for the banking, electronics and oil industries, as well as for dining, shopping, arts and entertainment. Large scale developments of urban lofts, apartments, condominiums, retail and both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities are springing up across the city. An impressive new Dallas Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2009 to vie with New York's Lincoln Center. New facilities and relevant attractions in and around this cultural centre continue to grow.
Among things you probably didn't know about Dallas: The city has the largest urban arts district in the United States spanning 19 blocks. What's more, the Dallas Arts District has more buildings designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects in one contiguous location than anywhere else in the world. And Dallas' Fair Park, just a short distance east of the arts district and a district with numerous museums and venues, features the nation's largest collection of 1930s Art Deco, exposition-style architecture.
Dallas offers true Southern hospitality, be it in a humble hideaway cocktail bar or in the Mansion on Turtle Creek, repeatedly and regularly ranked as one of the world's top hotels. And with a 10th of its workforce in the hospitality industry, Dallas is always happy to have y'all come on in and stick around awhile.
Those wishing to explore further afield should take the busy freeway 30 miles to the west to the easy-going, cattle-driving, twin city of Fort Worth, home to a national historic district and a surprising stash of world-class art museums.
The similarities between the two include a stunning rate of business and population growth, in spite of a sluggish recent economy; a shared passion for the pro sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, whose new billion-dollar stadium is now in Tarrant County instead of Dallas; and a great pride in being Texan.

Welcome to Houston, Texas, one of the largest cities in the United States.
Once an outpost in the Old West, Houston is now a down-to-earth metropolis, boasting a tremendous shipping and energy industry, as well as plenty of culture.
Kick off your Houston tour at Discovery Green, a 12-acre park tucked beneath the city’s skyscrapers. You’ll find public art and plenty of space to picnic or go for walks. Houstoners take pride in their various parks, museums, and open spaces, like the Houston Arboretum, where you can go birdwatching, learn about green living, and hike the trails to explore local wildlife.
Speaking of exploring, your Houston sightseeing should include a trip to the USS Texas., This battleship served in two World Wars and now stands guard as a museum on the Buffalo Bayou. Head over to the Gulf for a walk on the beach while you watch the sunset, then get ready to gear up for the evening with some delicious TexMex shared with the locals. After you lose yourself in a few rounds of line dancing to burn off all those fajitas, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t come to Houston earlier.

If you're tired of the same old fast food and want something different, then head over to Latin Deli. It is one of the hidden gems in Dallas!
In a super casual, affordable, and friendly atmosphere, they serve the best sandwiches and pastries. The ambience is a strip mall, café-like setting with garish lime-green paint on the walls and a walk-up counter. This isn't a place you would go for first date or celebratory dinner. But definitely a must if you just want a delicious Latin sandwich!
Some of their must-haves include their Loma Saltado, Tres Leches Cupcake, Carrot Cake, Choco Flan, Red Velvet Cup Cake, Sweet Corn Muffins. As beautiful and delicious as their sandwiches are, they are still true to a simple plate of Chilaquiles.
Latin Deli hits three essential targets: Good, Fast and Cheap. It is a great place for brunch on the weekend. It's like waking up for breakfast at your mom's house. All-around, a delicious, affordable meal!
If you are in Dallas, Texas (USA) - do stop by and check them out! Meanwhile watch Pia and Anita's grub escapade as they experience the simple motto of Latin Deli - Eat, Laugh, Live!

For many people, the very name of Dallas is synonymous with retail therapy. The city's motto, after all, is 'if it can't be found in Dallas, it can't be found anywhere'. This is where Neiman Marcus, 1618 Main Street, began its fashion business in 1907, as an 'exclusive woman's ready-to-wear store'. Today, all manner of big names have gravitated around it, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co and Christian Dior. The huge department store chain JC Penney also originated in Dallas.
Key areas:
The majority of fine shopping in Dallas is found just north of downtown in the Uptown district and in Highland Park and University Park. Interesting, more bohemian shops tend to be found in Deep Ellum, immediately east of downtown, and on Lower Greenville, which reaches just northeast of downtown. Great clusters of shopping areas are also found in suburban Dallas areas, all north of I-635, such as Plano, Frisco and McKinney.
Markets:
There is a large Farmer's Market, on the western end of Downtown, at South Harwood Street and Marilla Street.
Shopping centres:
The most upmarket is Highland Park Village, a National Historic landmark and one of the first American shopping centers, opened in 1931. Look here for such shops as Chanel, Jimmy Choo, Jermes, Harry Winston and dozens of other fashion names, as well as homegrown retailers like Calame Jewelers and Cooter's Village Camera.
Galleria Dallas, 13350 Dallas Parkway, is a revered name in Texas shopping. Stores here include BCBG, Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop and Old Navy, Tiffany & Co., American Girl, Nordstrom, Sak's Fifth Avenue and Macy's. There's an ice-skating ring with spectacular shows during the winter holidays, plus cinemas and restaurants.
NorthPark Center, 8687 N. Central Expressway, is compared with Beverly Hills' Rodeo Drive, but all-enclosed. Finer shopping abounds, with Neiman Marcus and boutiques from top-rate designers like CH Carolina Herrera, Herve Leger, Versace, and Salvatore Ferragamo, to name a few.
Opening hours:
Almost all retail stores are open daily, 1000-2100.
Souvenirs:
The best places to buy Texas souvenirs, such as western hats and boots and jewellery, are western-wear stores. These include Cowboy Cool, 3699 McKinney Avenue, a favorite boutique in the West Village, in the Uptown district; and Pink's Western Wear, 2475 N. Stemmons Freewaym, in the Medical District, northwest of downtown.
Tax information:
Sales tax is 8.25%.

Dallas Hotels
Dallas' hotel landscape matches that of its shopping and dining attractions -- choices are numerous in every category, from luxurious and expensive to humble and inexpensive. Keep in mind, however, that the majority of finer choices tend to be in downtown and the surrounding areas, whereas the less costly places may not be as close to the most popular attractions and restaurants. You pay, of course, for convenience.
The Dallas hotels below are grouped into three pricing categories:
Luxury (over US $250)
Moderate (US $130 to $250)
Cheap (up to US$130)
These Dallas hotel prices are the starting prices for a standard double room and include taxes unless otherwise specified. Breakfast may be included; investigate at time of booking.
W Dallas - Victory Hotel
Within walking distance from the Dallas Arts District, the trendy W Hotel remains edgy and relevant, thanks to a recent, multi-million-dollar renovation. Overlooking the sports venue of Victory Plaza and breathtaking night views of downtown Dallas, the hotel offers 252 oversized rooms and suites in categories named Wonderful, Cool Corner, Spectacular, Fabulous, Mega, Fantastic, Marvelous, Wow and Extreme Wow. Inside the W's Bliss spa, the Exotic Lime and Ginger Salt Glow body treatment is transcendental. Dinner in the gastropub called Cook Hall is casual yet very special.
Hotel ZaZa
This mind-boggling lodging in Uptown seems drawn from a Hollywood movie set. Lavish furnishings, Frette linens, cutting-edge technology, rainforest showers in luxurious bathrooms and high ceilings make the large 146 guest rooms and suites feel like private apartments within the South-of-France-style building. Meeting spaces accommodate up to 300. The on-site Dragonfly restaurant has won numerous awards for inspired contemporary cuisine and throngs of fans for its chic bar scene.
The Joule, Dallas
Downtown's most elegant boutique hotel sits within a lavishly renovated 1920s neo-Gothic building. An added 10-storey tower and contemporary lobby showcase stunning art and design structures highlighting the oil and gas theme appropriate to the 'Big D' (Dallas). The Joule's cantilevered pool extends 5ft off the edge of the building, and is even open free in the summer to non-guests from 0500 to noon. Rooms and suites have sleek, inventive décor, and the Fitness Center is state-of-the-art. Don't miss the hotel's restaurant and wine room, run by celebrity chef Charlie Palmer.

If you are up for exploring Dallas, here are a few tips. Like most of Texas, Dallas is mostly a driver's city, but there are a few more options in certain districts. If you're visiting sites in the West end, you can take the trolley and learn about the city from your tour guide. You can also use the local bus system or the light rail called DART. Both run through Downtown and surrounding districts. If you do have access to a car, you'd be best off driving to an area and walking to save time. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen. With all the hot spots in Dallas, be sure to get reservations or arrive early as some places book up or sell out.

Public transport:
Public transport buses and trains are operated by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) authority. The urban light railway and the commuter line, which are separate lines in the south and north, combine to form a single route in the downtown area. The system operates 0400-2400.
Bus tickets must be purchased with exact change in cash. Alternatively, prepaid tickets and day passes can be purchased from vending machines at the station. Day passes may be purchased in advance.
DART has joined forces with the volunteer-run McKinney Avenue Transit Authority to operate the historic M-Line Streetcar, providing free, daily transit service in downtown and to connect downtown with the uptown neighbourhood. Schedules and detailed route information are available.
Taxis:
Taxis operate 24 hours. Recommended are Checker Cab and Yellow Cab, both at the same depot, and Terminal Cab. A tip of 10% is expected.
Driving:
Driving in downtown Dallas at the weekends is feasible for the visitor, since the streets are relatively quiet. Morning and evening rush hour in the week is just the opposite and very frustrating.
Downtown Dallas is essentially on a north-south grid layout, although north of Pacific Avenue, the grid is skewed slightly and angled more on a northwest-southeast axis.
The most frequently used toll road in Dallas among visitors is the North Tollway, which goes from Downtown up into Collin County. Toll stations no longer exist; you will be invoiced for tolls you are owed (these will be charged to you by your car rental company).
There are meters and parking lots all over Downtown, which can be expensive, except at weekends. Visitors should read meters carefully as timings will be enforced.
Bicycle hire:
Bikes are available for hire from Richardson Bike Mart's White Rock Lake location, 9040 Garland Road Riding around the lake is wonderful in good weather.

Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum
The Texas School Book Depository was a rather ordinary building in downtown Dallas until the infamous assassination of US President John F Kennedy on 22 November 1963 as he travelled in an open limousine through Dallas on a pre-election visit.
Lee Harvey Oswald, the 24-year-old local who was accused of the crime, had a filing job at the depository. The deadly shot was fired from the sixth floor of the building, which is now the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza documenting both the assassination itself and the life and times of JFK. This includes a minute-by-minute account of the action, the investigations and the various assassination theories that followed. The Plaza itself is simply an outdoor grassy area on the north side of Elm Street, where curiosity seekers gather at all hours of day and night.
Opening Times: Tue-Sun 1000-1800, Mon 1200-1800.
Admission Fees: Yes
Disabled Access: No
Unesco: No
Address: 411 Elm Street, Dallas, United States
African-American Museum
One of the rare modern buildings at Fair Park, this cross-shaped museum of ivory-colored stone stands out not just for its beautiful contemporary design but also for its commitment to the preservation and exhibition of African-American materials of artistic, cultural and historical value. Among noted collections is the Billy R. Allen Folk Art Collection. Through its four vaulted galleries, the Museum fully details African-American art and history from pre-colonial times to the present day, with permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Opening Times: Tue-Fri 1200-1700, Sat 1000-1700, Sun 1300-1700.
Admission Fees: Yes
Disabled Access: No

Dallas Museum of Art
The spacious permanent collection galleries at the Dallas Museum of Art, also a building designed by I.M. Pei, cover different types of art from ancient to modern times, from the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia, with 23,000 works of art. Of particular significance is the Wendy and Emery Reves Collection of Impressionist paintings, a collection numbering 1,400 pieces. Many visiting exhibitions from prized collections around the world include such treasures as the golden Tutankhamun mummies from Egypt, the works of Marc Chagall, and much more. Among myriad programming interests are Arts &Letters; Live, lectures, gallery talks and tours, concerts and performances and classes. The museum shop is worth a visit for unusual gifts and souvenirs.
Opening Times: Tue-Wed, Fri-Sun 1100-1700; Thu 1100-2100.
Admission Fees: Yes
Disabled Access: No
Unesco: No

Perot Museum of Nature and Science
Opened in 2012, this nonprofit educational organisation in the Dallas Arts District thrills children, students, teachers and families with stunning exhibits in a 180,000sq ft museum with five floors of public spaces and 11 exhibit halls. There is a complete children's museum within, which includes an outdoor play area. Extraordinary elements include a vast, glassed-in lobby and adjacent rooftop deck; a 298-seat theater with numerous projection capabilities; and a lovely café. The building itself is jaw-dropping, thanks to the work by 2005 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate Thom Mayne of the firm Morphosis. The museum is named for the Perot family, who donated $50 million for this museum's creation. It's wise to purchase admission tickets online and in advance as the museum frequently sells out and visitors without tickets are often turned away.
Opening Times: Mon-Sat 1000-1700, Sun 1200-1700.
Admission Fees: Yes
Disabled Access: Yes
Unesco: No
Address: 2201 North Field Street, Dallas, United States

The Plaza itself is simply an outdoor grassy area on the north side of Elm Street, where curiosity seekers gather at all hours of day and night.

Dallas - Texas - United States Travel guide http://goo.gl/tLsKrZ
The irresistible appeal of Dallas' dining is its blend of cuisine influenced by the American South and Mexico, as well as its cattle and ranching heritage. Dallas is noted for inventing Tex-Mex plate and the world's first frozen margarita in 1971. Food became more sophisticated over time, with southwestern cuisine emerging in the 1980s, by pairing Latin and Native American cuisine with classic culinary techniques.
The restaurants below have been grouped into three different price categories:
Expensive (over US$50)
Moderate (US$30 to US$50)
Cheap (up to US$30)
These prices are for dinner for two people, excluding tax, alcohol or tips. In general, there is a sales tax of 8.25% added to restaurant bills. However, in reality, this tax varies and some restaurants only add the tax to either food or drink. Tipping of between 15 and 20% is expected and in some restaurants this may be added to the bill.
Abacus
Price: Expensive
Rating: 4
Cuisine: Asian-influenced American cuisine
The deft touch of executive chef Kent Rathbun and his stunning wine list has earned glorious praise from the national press, thanks to such pleasures as lager-braised veal breast with English pea pierogi; grilled duck with leg confit and black pepper-ricotta cavatelli; and fascinating sushi rolls, such as the Picasso, combining spicy tuna, roasted pineapple, avocado and salmon. For an extra treat, guests should try the chef's selection of five or eight small courses, with wine pairings, and luxuriate in the palate pampering and the soothing, sumptuous interiors.
Address: 4511 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, Texas, United States
Stephan Pyles
Price: Expensive
Rating: 5
Cuisine: Contemporary American & Southwestern
Widely known as one of the architects of Southwestern cuisine, Pyles, the much-loved native of West Texas and noted world traveller, has earned innumerable accolades from international publications for his namesake restaurant. His 'New Millennium Southwestern cuisine' features as a tasting of exotic ceviches (try ahi tuna with watermelon and pepitas), duck confit empanadas, wood-fired whole fish, and coriander-cured rack of lamb. Special drinks include Pisco Sour and smoky-apple Martini. A lovely update of a 1960s office building provides a warm, inviting setting in which to feast. Bring someone special with you.
Address: 1807 Ross Avenue, Dallas, Texas, United States
Fearing's
Price: Expensive
Rating: 5
Cuisine: American with Southern/Southwestern influences
After making the Mansion on Turtle Creek the leading dining destination in Texas for two decades, star chef Dean Fearing opened a place of his own at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton. In each of seven distinct settings under one roof, the popular southerner does much to please his ever-ardent fans, with maple-black peppercorn buffalo tenderloin, pecan-crusted halibut, crab tacos and -- at brunch -- stunningly good fried chicken. Drinks in his Rattlesnake Bar include El Diablo, a mixture of Patron Silver Tequila, blackcurrant liqueur, fresh lime juice and ginger ale.
Address: 2121 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, Texas, United States
Fireside Pies
Price: Moderate
Rating: 3
Cuisine: Italian
Certainly not the usual pizza joint, this is where you'll find spectacular pizzas. Inside a handsome, casual stone-and-wood building, you'll find a hip crowd hanging out over starters, wine and pies. Pizzas are baked in a wood-burning oven, topped with a fire-roasted tomato sauce, liberally garnished with four kinds of cheese, then decorated with such add-ons as meatballs, proscuitto, balsamic-roasted chicken, truffle oil or rocket salad. When in doubt, just order the 13th Pie, an ever-changing delight. Weather permitting, patio seating is divine.
Address: 2820 North Henderson Avenue, Dallas, Texas, United States
Primo's Bar & Grille
Price: Moderate
Rating: 3
Cuisine: Mexican
A long-time hangout in Uptown, this wonderful spot only gets better with age. The Sunday brunch is hugely satisfying, but any day of the week is perfect for top-rate margaritas and a plate of the delicious tacos camperos filled with beef fajita meat. Pile on jalapeno, cilantro , a slice of avocado and a spoonful of the tomato salsa on the table. It's a good spot to take a break from shopping and gallery-browsing; relax on the patio or in one of the rooms inside the hundred-year-old building with creaky wooden floors.

On the Dallas Mavericks, everybody loves Raymond Felton Dallas Mavericks
HOUSTON -- Raymond Felton hasn’t had a whole lot of fun the past couple of seasons, so you certainly can’t blame him for savoring this moment.

He assailed Jeb Bush, whose mention inspired raucous boos, and Hillary Rodham Clinton, who attracted an even louder chorus. “Well, Jeb’s more popular than one person,” Mr. Trump said.

HOUSTON -- Raymond Felton hasn’t had a whole lot of fun the past couple of seasons, so you certainly can’t blame him for savoring this moment.
It has been a while since the guard had the ball in his hands during closing time and delivered like he did Saturday night at the Toyota Center.
The Houston Rockets, down by as many as 26 points, seemed on the verge of mounting a serious comeback against the Dallas Mavericks. Until Felton took over the game, at least.

Cheers, Puns and Protest Welcome Donald Trump in Dallas
DALLAS — The revelers gathered on the plaza hours early, the main attraction’s likeness splashed across their T-shirts, buttons and, occasionally, body parts.
He assailed Jeb Bush, whose mention inspired raucous boos, and Hillary Rodham Clinton, who attracted an even louder chorus. “Well, Jeb’s more popular than one person,” Mr. Trump said.
He praised Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, conditionally: “If he comes out and attacks me on Wednesday night,” he said of the second Republican debate, “I will take it back immediately.”
Most forcefully, Mr. Trump lamented what he described as a scourge of undocumented immigration, a stance that has helped fuel his rise to the top of the polls.
“Many of these gang members are illegal immigrants. They’re rough dudes,” he said to swelling cheers, adding that they would not remain in the country long on his watch.
Like most Trump outings in recent weeks, the campaign stop doubled as a television event of sorts, a reality that Mr. Trump clearly relished during a characteristically meandering speech that lasted over an hour.
Turning to the cameras assembled before him, he said that, unlike other candidates, he was required to produce fresh material for every stump speech.
“Every time I speak they put me on live television,” he said, “so I have to make different speeches.”
Mr. Trump’s confidence remained undiminished: He appraised himself as an unrivaled builder, a self-funder unencumbered by political “blood money” and an all-around winner of the highest order.
Poll numbers were broached frequently, with Mr. Trump complaining of a purported rounding conspiracy.
“I’m at 40, and it’s actually 41, but they don’t want to say that,” he said referring to his percentage of support. “If I’m at 40.9, they’ll say I’m at 40.”
He vowed to improve America’s standing in the world, citing his experience as a negotiator, and repeated a call to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, though the details of this endeavor remained murky.
A supporter suggested a name from the rafters: DonaldCare.
“Thank you!” Mr. Trump said. “We’ll call it DonaldCare.”
His closing remarks drew upon the mantra etched across his signature campaign hat.

“You’re going to say to your children, and you’re going to say to anybody else, that we were part of a movement to take back our country,” he said. “And we will make America great again.”
Earlier, some in the crowd had become a bit restless when Mr. Trump remained out of sight for about 30 minutes after the announced start time for his speech.
One speaker, who had just introduced him, offered a reason for the delay: “He’s back there,” she said, gesturing offstage, “doing exceptional things.”
Before the event, several people sought to replicate what they saw as Mr. Trump’s capitalist spirit. Working the plaza, Rick Snowden and Janet Newlon moved to sell the last of their Trump swag: 24 hats, 36 visors and 100 buttons, driven here from Tennessee.
Mr. Snowden is an entrepreneur, he said. Just like Mr. Trump.
“It’s very attractive to think of a candidate who’s not beholden,” Mr. Snowden said. He added that the gathering called to mind a Barry Goldwater rally he had attended in 1964.
A man who identified himself as Jake Byrd — who appeared to be a performance artist, with past appearances on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” television show — said Mr. Trump had been treated unfairly in the news media, singling out Mr. Trump’s past comments about “the blacks” in reference to African-Americans. He turned to two African-American women, covered in Trump buttons, to make his case.
“Uh,” said one of the women, Beckie Hayes of Fort Worth, “we haven’t picked up on that one yet.”
They chanted puns (“Trump up the jam!”). They insulted Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. They shouted down a Hispanic man from a local radio station who had offered attendees the choice to whack or hug a Trump piñata.
And when the star appeared just after 6:30 p.m. on Monday, fans cheered by the thousands to remind Donald J. Trump that the “silent majority” he has hailed — in the Nixonian echo of his candidacy — seems to require some tweaking.
“It’s back,” Mr. Trump said in a basketball arena here with most seats filled, “and it’s not silent.”
On Monday, Mr. Trump brought his campaign-cum-roadshow to Texas, delivering his searing indictment of Washington politics, his Republican rivals and many others to a crowd that began funneling into the American Airlines Center well before his scheduled start time.
