Multitier architecture

In software engineering, multitier architecture (often referred to as n-tier architecture) is a client–server architecture in which presentation, application processing, and data management functions are physically separated. The most widespread use of multitier architecture is the three-tier architecture.

N-tier application architecture provides a model by which developers can create flexible and reusable applications. By segregating an application into tiers, developers acquire the option of modifying or adding a specific layer, instead of reworking the entire application. A three-tier architecture is typically composed of a presentation tier, a domain logic tier, and a data storage tier.

While the concepts of layer and tier are often used interchangeably, one fairly common point of view is that there is indeed a difference. This view holds that a layer is a logical structuring mechanism for the elements that make up the software solution, while a tier is a physical structuring mechanism for the system infrastructure.

Eternal Darkness

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a psychological horror action-adventure game developed by Silicon Knights and published by Nintendo for the GameCube in 2002. The game was originally planned for the Nintendo 64. The game's setting is centered on a mansion in Rhode Island—the home of protagonist Alexandra Roivas' grandfather—and a book that Alexandra finds there. It utilizes a third-person view in which the player must navigate a number of locations as twelve characters spanning different time periods, as well as "sanity effects" to enhance the gameplay.

Though not a commercial success, Eternal Darkness was widely praised, winning numerous awards. While a direct follow-up was cancelled by the copyrights holder Nintendo, and Silicon Knights bankrupted and disbanded, the game's writer and director Denis Dyack has been attempting to make a spiritual successor titled Shadow of the Eternals.

Plot

The action in Eternal Darkness is divided between four principal locations. The game skips back and forth through time when the player begins or ends each chapter. The locations include the Forbidden City in Persia, a Cambodian temple in Angkor Thom, the Oublié Cathedral in Amiens, France, and the Roivas family mansion with the Ruined City of Ehn'gha in Rhode Island, United States.

Prophet, seer, and revelator

Prophet, seer, and revelator is an ecclesiastical title used in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) that is currently applied to the members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. In the past, it has also been applied to the Presiding Patriarch of the church and the Assistant President of the Church.

Origin of the phrase

The phrase "prophet, seer, and revelator" is derived from a number of revelations received by church founder Joseph Smith. The first revelation received by Smith after the organization of the church on April 6, 1830, declared that "there shall be a record kept among you; and in it [Smith] shalt be called a seer, a translator, a prophet, an apostle of Jesus Christ, an elder of the church through the will of God the Father, and the grace of your Lord Jesus Christ".

In 1835, Smith further clarified the role of the president of the church: "the duty of the President of the office of the High Priesthood is to preside over the whole church, and ... to be a seer, a revelator, a translator, and a prophet". In 1841, Smith recorded a revelation that again restated these roles: "I give unto you my servant Joseph to be a presiding elder over all my church, to be a translator, a revelator, a seer, and prophet."

It maintains a headquarters in San Francisco and offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia. The firm has published many books and articles on the topic of branding and marketing. It's best known for the rebranding of Swiss bank UBS; the opening of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and BP's Beyond Petroleum positioning.

History

Prophet was founded in 1992 by Scott Galloway and Ian Chaplin, both graduates of the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

In 1998, Michael Dunn was named company president. Around the same time, author and consultant David Aaker began working with Prophet. Aaker currently serves as the company's vice chairman. Dunn was named Chief Executive Officer in 2000. He is currently the firm's Chairman and CEO. Prophet's annual revenue has grown to approximately $85 million with over 300 employees worldwide.

Prophet (Jerusalem album)

Prophet is the sixth studio album, and the tenth album overall, by the Swedish hard rock band Jerusalem. It was released simultaneously by Viva Records in Europe, R.E.X. Records in North America, and X ZERO Corporation in Japan.
