Prophets in Islam (Arabic: الأنبياء في الإسلام) include "messengers" (rasul, pl. rusul), bringers of a divine revelation via an angel; and "prophets" (nabī, pl. anbiyāʼ), lawbringers that Muslims believe were sent by God to every people, bringing God's message in a language they can understand. Belief in prophets is one of the six articles of the Islamic faith, and specifically mentioned in the Quran.
In Islamic belief the first prophet was the first human being, Adam (Adem). Many Jewish and Christian prophets and revelations they delivered are mentioned in the Quran as prophets and revelations but usually with different names, (the Jewish Elisha is called Alyasa, Job is Ayyub, Jesus is Isa, etc.; The Torah given to Moses (Musa) is called Tawrat, the Psalms given to David (Dawud) is the Zabur, the Gospel given to Jesus is Injil).
Unique to Islam is Muhammad (Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh), who Muslims believe is the "Seal of the Prophets" (Khatam an-Nabiyyin, i.e. the last prophet); and the text revealed to him (the Quran), which Muslims believe is unique among divine revelations as the only one protected by God from distortion or corruption, destined to remain in its true form until the Last Day.
The Prophet-5 is an analog synthesizer that was designed and manufactured by Sequential Circuits between 1978 and 1984. With five voices of polyphony, the Prophet-5 is one of the first polyphonic analog synthesizers with patch memory. About 6,000 units were produced in three revisions by Dave Smith and John Bowen. This was later accompanied by the Prophet-10, a version with ten voices of polyphony through an additional circuit board and keyboard.
The Prophet-5 is known for its use by progressive rock bands and film composers. Due to its success, the Prophet-5 has been emulated in software synthesizers and analog hardware. Through his company Dave Smith Instruments, and later under the Sequential Circuits brand, Smith has developed updated versions of the Prophet-5.
The Prophet-5 was developed by Dave Smith and John Bowen for Sequential Circuits, with the goal of creating a true polyphonic analog synthesizer with the ability to store and recall patches. Initially, they developed the Prophet-10, a synthesizer with ten voices of polyphony; however, these were extremely unstable and overheated almost immediately. As a result, Smith and Bowen pared back the number of voices to five, which led to the Prophet-5.

New Jersey pomp rockers Prophet gained a cult following with their Kansas/Styx-influenced 1985 debut album and are especially notable for having Danger Danger singer Ted Poley on drums throughout that period. Singer Dean Fasano and Ted Poley left before a label switch from RCA to Megaforce/Atlantic and the iconic 'Cycle Of The Moon' album in 1988, for which core members Scott Metaxas (bass/vocals), Ken Dubman (guitars) and Joe Zujkowski (keys) were joined by drummer Michael Sterlacci and ex-Surgin singer Russell Arcara. The nucleus of the band stayed together for the more hard rock-oriented 'Recycled' in 1991 but the band faded away soon after. After a couple of reunion shows in 2012 (sadly Joe Zujkowski and original singer Dean Fasano are no longer with us) it was only right that they be ...
