Leo Muhammad: Discussing Edutainment and Black Comedy

This exclusive interview was recorded on Sunday 8th May 2011. It was conducted over the internet with Leo Muhammad speaking from London, England; and I speaking from Barbados in the West Indies - hence the sound of the whistling frogs in the background. The questions that I put to Leo Muhammad are as follows: • Social scientists agree that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world today. When and how did you become a Muslim and what effect has Islam had in your life? • What are the differences between the Muslim members of the Nation of Islam and the Muslims in the Middle-East, Asia and Africa? • In 1986; the British government imposed a ban on the Honourable Minister Louis Farrakhan from entering Britain. What effect has the ban had in terms of stopping our people from hearing the message and teachings of The Honourable Elijah Muhammad; and what effect has it had on the overall growth and development of the Nation of Islam in The UK? • In the UK; many regard you as the premier in black stand up comedy with your unique brand of EDUTAINMENT: What is Edutainment; what inspired you to do stand up comedy and; does comedy really have a place in the black liberation struggle? • Over the past 6 months, I have posted on YouTube, a number of video clips of you speaking at London Hyde Park, Speakers Corner. Why did you decide to speak there and how were the Nation of Islam received? Do you have any plans to speak at Hyde Park again? • Minister Farrakhan recently instructed his followers to study Dianetics - A Modern Science of Mental Health - by L Ron Hubboard. What is Dianetics; has it benefited you personally and; how could it benefit our people? • What is your opinion on independent black education and do you advocate separate schooling for black children in the UK? • Statistics show, that Black people in Britain, and indeed throughout the western world; lead all other nations in obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and a host of other non-communicative chronic illnesses. Why do you think this is and what can be done to improve the health of our Nation and people? • What is your opinion of the first black American President, Barack Hussein Obama, and do you believe that he has been a good president for black people? • What is your opinion on the recent assassination of Osama Bin Laden and do you believe that he was really behind the tragedy of 911? • Why are the people of the Middle-East rising up against their own leadership and what is your opinion on the American armed forces and NATO's intervention in Libya? • What is your opinion on the recent economic troubles of the west and what does the potential economic collapse of the American economy mean for the people of Africa, the Caribbean and other black people throughout the world? • The Honourable Elijah Muhammad taught us that Allah (God) would use the weather and earthquakes in the Judgement of America; over the past few years we have witnessed Minister Farrakhan increasingly warn America and the world of a coming increase in Natural disasters and severe weather conditions. Do you believe that the devastating earthquake in Haiti and the earthquake and tsunami in Japan are a sign of something greater coming to America, Britain and possibly other western countries? • What are you currently doing and what plans do you have for the rest of this year? • How can you be contacted by those whom would like you to speak or perform Edutainment at their event?
