After the shoot, we discovered that there was no sound. Sean "salvaged" the piece by throwing in a few sound effects and music. This cut was taken from my subpar Ampex VHS copy of the tape. I am still in search of the 3/4" master to "The Fall 1988 Video Album" which contains a few PSAs and a Halloween documentary I produced for the school.

''Basically this song is about a dream. It's not about devil worship. '' (Steve Harris) This song was loosely inspired by the 1978 movie Omen II, and a Steve Harris nightmare. It begins ominously with quoted text from the Bible: Woe to you, oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short... Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and sixty six. (Revelations 13:18) The reference of this quote is however not entirely correct, as only the last sentence corresponds to Revelations 13:18, the first one being found in Revelations 12:12. There are several English translations of the Bible, but Steve Harris seems to have used the quotes from the Revised Standard Version: Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!(Revelations 12:12) This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon he number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six.(Revelations 13:18) Still on the topic of the song intro, Bruce mentioned during a Radio Scotland special 2-hour Download Festival programme that the band had asked the famous horror films actor Vincent Price to read the text. However, still according to Bruce, Price refused to do it for anything less than £25,000. They had heard of someone who reads ghost stories at the Capitol radio station and got him to do it. The man was a thespian (a theatre actor) who had no interest in Maiden, but they asked him to put on a Vincent Price kind of voice and he was amazing. In the Number Of The Beast video, Steve mentions that the song was somehow also inspired by Robert Burns's poem Tam O' Shanter. Here is Mick Wall's account of the controversy that occurred at the time: ''In America, where the title of the album had caused a storm of protest from the emerging so-called "moral majority", a right-wing American political pressure group ludicrously accused Maiden of being Devil worshippers and of "trying to pervert our kids". As Steve says, "It was mad. They completely got the wrong end of the stick. They obviously hadn't read the lyrics. They just wanted to believe all that rubbish about us being Satanists." Nevertheless, the resulting publicity kept the band's name in the news in every town that they visited that year, as kids everywhere were desperate to check out for themselves this band that was putting the fear of God into their parents.'' Challenging platform fighting game steeped in Greek mythology involving gods and beast transformations! As a resurrected soldier you are tasked with saving Zeus' daughter, Athena, from the sorceress Neff. In order to unleash the awesome powers of the beast (a different beast per each of the 5 levels), you must collect 3 magical orbs, which are revealed when you kill a white wolf. The wolves, both white and brown, may charge very fast at you, leap forward a little at a time, or just hop forward and wait for you to come to them. You never know what they're going to do until they do it, and often they run into you, knocking you down, and make you miss the opportunity to get the stinkin' orb! Sucks! Well, if you don't get the 3 orbs (each of which gives you increased strength and range with your punch and kick) right away, your chance to face the boss will have to wait for awhile and the value of the boss is decreased. Your ability to jump up to higher ground can definitely be a life saver, as most enemies can't get up there (though some, including the pesky wolves, will already be moving around there). The beast power for level 1 is a wolf, which can dash forward (even in mid-air) and shoot fireballs from his fist. The boss will appear eventually when you either have the beast form or just never bothered to collect orbs (in which case, you're in deep doodoo). The first boss is easy enough if you make sure not to stand where his lobbed heads are gonna fall, and keep shooting at him and dashing when you are in danger of getting hit by a head. Level 2 is in a cave setting, with dragons and leeches besieging you. The beast power is super-awesome-- a dragon with electrical shock and lasers (use the shock on the boss-- an eyeball plant-- and he's toast). Level 3 is super-tough; it's underground and deals with pesky bees, turtles and the chicken-lizards from Golden Axe! The beast form is a bear with an invincible jump-spin and freezing breath. Breathe on the boss repeatedly and jump to avoid getting hit by his projectiles. Level 4 gives you the power of the tiger-- similar to the wolf from Level 1 but you dash upwards and then downwards, and fire bouncing balls. A fiery gator awaits your pleasure at the end; use the up/down dash behind him and/or fire balls at him from afar while ducking under his flame attack. On the final level, you must deal with kung-fu unicorns, goats, rhinos, and buzzsaw piranhas (weird, I know). Neff awaits at the end and is one tough rhino. You are back to your wolf form, albeit a bit faster. Good luck against him, since his charge will stop your charge and he constantly kicks/punches at you. Upon his demise a funny ending sequence ensues, in which the monster enemies were actors in suits and share a beer! Classic beat-em-up action by Sega; this was the first Sega Genesis cart and was released with the system.
