100 years later, follow the descendant of Maxim as he take on the Sinistrals.
Basic ol' turn-based game that is kinda difficult (unless in Try Again mode). Apparently, damaging items are all sorts of awesomeness (I always chucked them except for Mid Arrows).
This longplay goes through the game while fighting out pretty much every fight (have to get those levels somehow). Tower of Light segment has inconsistency: I had to grind to level 28 (for Lufia's Boost) because the boss demanded it. -_- I don't get all the items (while watching input file, I found out I missed the stat potion in Chatam. It is in a tree. Reading around also told me that I could've got a Might Helmet in Tower of Light.). I durr'd and got the Wave Ring a little late (I knew WHERE it was. I was too quick and teleported OUT of the cave.) There was some luck manipulation, mostly on some of the bosses (2nd tier magic hurts without boost. ._.) and mostly on Mimicks and Cores. I NEED that EXP! This wouldn't be a problem if I was playing in Try Again mode. Oh, and I get the 8 Dragon Ba--I mean, Eggs three times (inflating the length. Then again, this IS a longplay. :3).
Filesize and time is for the non-edited version (all fights intact). For a [shoddily] edited version, download the v2 (approx. 2.72GB at 9 hours.
I haven't played this game in...some 10 years. X_X

The Lufia series is pretty famous, and in this Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Review, SuperDerek asks if it's really worth $30? Super Derek recounts the tale of purchasing the game, and the trials of beating it.
When I was young shortly after being awe-struck by Earthbound, I remembered going to a local game shop and demanding another game like it. The clerk, he furrowed his brow. They didn't have many RPGs in stock, he said, but he found one game on a shelf.
He carefully pulled down the cartridge from its roost and blew off a cloud of dust. "Here you go kid" he said, "I uh, hear this one's pretty good!"
Without hesitation I forked over weeks of my carefully saved allowances and returned home with my prize. On the car ride home, I gazed giddily at the cover, imagining all of the adventures that it might take me on, and the stories it would tell. Fast-forward 15 years, and I still haven't beaten this game... Until now.
Welcome back to The Game Collection, I am SuperDerek and this is Lufia and the Fortress of Doom! Lufia and the Fortress of Doom was the first game released in the Lufia series. it was released exclusively in Japan and the United States in 1993. Strangely, the events of the game take place 100 years after the events of the game's much more renowned and well loved sequel, Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals. Lufia and the Fortress of Doom was developed by Neverland and published by Taito, now part of Square Enix. Neverland is well-known for developing the Lufia and Rune Factory series. The story follows the descendant of a legendary hero and his childhood friend Lufia, as they travel the world with an elf and a soldier in order to prevent the resurrection of the Sinistrals: 4 god-like warrirors that nearly destroyed the world 100 years ago.
This quest takes you from town to town, tower to tower, and cave to cave fighting hordes of monsters at every single turn.

Hey guys! Time for some insanely epic metal jams from Lufia 2! This one was a request from Josh B. and I couldn't have been more stoked when I found out I was about to hit this track up.
The original is so metal-friendly that I really didn't have to reach too far to come up with some riffs for it. I decided to come up with my own rhythm riff following the original's chord progression and let that be a continuing motif of my arrangement. But for the pre-chorus and chorus, I decided to let it stay more true to the original rhythmically.
I also wanted to stay true to the original theme's drums because the groove is so unique and cool. It's like if a seasoned jazz drummer decided to play melodic death metal.
Finally, I couldn't resist doing a solo over the motif riff because the chord progression is so melodic and fun. It allows so much feeling in any melody you throw at it.
Overall i'm super happy with how this turned out. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! Thanks for the awesome request Josh!

Lufia
Lufia, known as Estpolis Denki (エストポリス伝記, officially translated Biography of Estpolis) in Japan, is a series of role-playing video games developed by Neverland (aside from The Ruins of Lore, which was developed by Atelier Double). In Japan, the games were originally published by Taito and later, its now-parent company Square Enix (with Curse of the Sinistrals), and after the closing of Taito's North American branch after the release of the first game, Natsume Inc. (Rise of the Sinistrals, The Legend Returns, and Curse of the Sinistrals) Atlus USA (The Ruins of Lore) in the U.S. While the games are primarily traditional 2D RPGs, they draw on elements from many other genres including action-adventure, monster collecting, and puzzle games. In the 1990s the games were originally developed on the Super NES while the most recent installment, Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals, was developed for the Nintendo DS and was released in Japan on February 25, 2010 and in North America on October 12, 2010. The series currently consists of six games, including this most recent installment.

Basic ol' turn-based game that is kinda difficult (unless in Try Again mode). Apparently, damaging items are all sorts of awesomeness (I always chucked them except for Mid Arrows). This longplay goes through the game while fighting out pretty much every fight (have to get those levels somehow). Tower of Light segment has inconsistency: I had to grind to level 28 (for Lufia's Boost) because the boss demanded it. -_- I don't get all the items (while watching input file, I found out I missed the stat potion in Chatam. It is in a tree. Reading around also told me that I could've got a Might Helmet in Tower of Light.). I durr'd and got the Wave R...

Basic ol' turn-based game that is kinda difficult (unless in Try Again mode). Apparently, damaging items are all sorts of awesomeness (I always chucked them except for Mid Arrows).
This longplay goes through the game while fighting out pretty much every fight (have to get those levels somehow). Tower of Light segment has inconsistency: I had to grind to level 28 (for Lufia's Boost) because the boss demanded it. -_- I don't get all the items (while watching input file, I found out I missed the stat potion in Chatam. It is in a tree. Reading around also told me that I could've got a Might Helmet in Tower of Light.). I durr'd and got the Wave Ring a little late (I knew WHERE it was. I was too quick and teleported OUT of the cave.) There was some luck manipulation, mostly on some of the bosses (2nd tier magic hurts without boost. ._.) and mostly on Mimicks and Cores. I NEED that EXP! This wouldn't be a problem if I was playing in Try Again mode. Oh, and I get the 8 Dragon Ba--I mean, Eggs three times (inflating the length. Then again, this IS a longplay. :3).
Filesize and time is for the non-edited version (all fights intact). For a [shoddily] edited version, download the v2 (approx. 2.72GB at 9 hours.

When I was young shortly after being awe-struck by Earthbound, I remembered going to a local game shop and demanding another game like it. The clerk, he furrowed his brow. They didn't have many RPGs in stock, he said, but he found one game on a shelf.
He carefully pulled down the cartridge from its roost and blew off a cloud of dust. "Here you go kid" he said, "I uh, hear this one's pretty good!"
Without hesitation I forked over weeks of my carefully saved allowances and returned home with my prize. On the car ride home, I gazed giddily at the cover, imagining all of the adventures that it might take me on, and the stories it would tell. Fast-forward 15 years, and I still haven't beaten this game... Until now.
Welcome back to The Game Collection, I am SuperDerek and this is Lufia and the Fortress of Doom! Lufia and the Fortress of Doom was the first game released in the Lufia series. it was released exclusively in Japan and the United States in 1993. Strangely, the events of the game take place 100 years after the events of the game's much more renowned and well loved sequel, Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals. Lufia and the Fortress of Doom was developed by Neverland and published by Taito, now part of Square Enix. Neverland is well-known for developing the Lufia and Rune Factory series. The story follows the descendant of a legendary hero and his childhood friend Lufia, as they travel the world with an elf and a soldier in order to prevent the resurrection of the Sinistrals: 4 god-like warrirors that nearly destroyed the world 100 years ago.
This quest takes you from town to town, tower to tower, and cave to cave fighting hordes of monsters at every single turn.

Hey guys! Time for some insanely epic metal jams from Lufia 2! This one was a request from Josh B. and I couldn't have been more stoked when I found out I was about to hit this track up.
The original is so metal-friendly that I really didn't have to reach too far to come up with some riffs for it. I decided to come up with my own rhythm riff following the original's chord progression and let that be a continuing motif of my arrangement. But for the pre-chorus and chorus, I decided to let it stay more true to the original rhythmically.
I also wanted to stay true to the original theme's drums because the groove is so unique and cool. It's like if a seasoned jazz drummer decided to play melodic death metal.
Finally, I couldn't resist doing a solo over the motif riff because the chord progression is so melodic and fun. It allows so much feeling in any melody you throw at it.
Overall i'm super happy with how this turned out. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! Thanks for the awesome request Josh!

Lufia ... Lufia is a prime example of that cartoony style, with the tiny spiky-haired characters, and the rich use of bright colors. It wouldn’t be right to say that Lufia is prettier than Golden Sun 2, even though they share much of the same graphical style, because Lufia just can’t come close when it comes to the combat effects ... Lufia’s audio is far from shabby too....
I'm Glad I Waited Fifteen Years to Play Majora's Mask

I first played The Legend of Zelda. Majora's Mask in a small, dark hotel room that offered rentals on all of the hottest N64 games, Expansion Pak and all. I don't remember where we were or even how old I was, but I do recall convincing my parents to let us rent Majora's Mask for 24 hours ... I grew up with big, sprawling RPGs like Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana and Lufia II—games where you didn't really have to rush to save the world....

Although Hollywood has been burned time and time again in its quest to bring one-dimensional games to the big screen, apparently producers are still hoping to find that one property which completely alters the landscape.
