Sound of Love is a live album by jazz drummer Paul Motian recorded at the Village Vanguard in 1995 and on the Winter & Winter label in 1997.
The Penguin Guide to Jazz selected this album as part of its suggested Core Collection.
The AllMusic review by Stephen Cook awarded the album 4½ stars calling it "a stellar set of jazz covers and Motian originals" and noting "As the premium sound quality of the recording makes clear, this trio had an almost telepathic rapport on stage, inspiring each other in both ensemble playing and solo flights. This kind of hand-in-glove chemistry is certainly due in part to the group's many stints on the road, but also comes from the individual player's complimentary [sic] styles".
"Sound of Love" is a ballad number performed by the Bee Gees, It was written by Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb, and appeared on their album Odessa in 1969.
It was originally recorded at Atlantic Studios, New York on August 20, 1968, and was finished at IBC Studios, London in November of that year. A mix with the original vocal take appears on the Sketches for Odessa disc released with the remastered edition in 2009. The song starts with a piano played by Maurice, on 0:37, the bass and drums were started, with the orchestra conduct by Bill Shepherd, with a powerful voice by Barry Gibb.
Waking to the silence in your voice
Waking to the light, I'll now rejoice
Knowing everything could come undone
And knowing that you and I will be one
This day is dragging on, why don't you die?
The nights are carried on by blackened sky
Forever has no end but has a start
Forever your love
Will not fall apart
I know that your love
Will not fall apart
So I'll wake
For the end is crashing through
Seconds pass
In an hour
(Oh) I know I'll go
So please don't take me now
I need to note
Something that's told.
You stood by (Watching)
Because I cannot sleep (Please wake)
Just to say (I'm told)
Sorry I'm told
You stood by (Watching)
Because I cannot sleep (Please wake)
Is this to say (I'm told)
I am told.
Waking to the silence in your voice
