GlobalGathering is an annual dance music festival by Angel Music Group. Festivals are held in countries such as the UK, Poland, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and feature leading electronica artists from across the globe. The festival has been running since 2001; the concept came about following enormous interest in the opening of Angel Music Group’s Code club (now Air), the home of Godskitchen. The organisers recognised that there was room to expand dance music from clubs to outdoor music festival venues.
Global Gathering Locations:
Held on the last weekend of July each year, GlobalGathering in the UK has established itself as a major UK dance festival since it began in 2001. It is held at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon. It provides entertainment from a range of electronic genres, and includes live acts, house, trance and dubstep. The festival has grown to play host to over one hundred acts on sixteen stages, and has twice won the award for Best UK Festival in the DJ Magazine awards, including 2010.
Matthias Paul, better known by his stage name Paul van Dyk (born (1971-12-16)16 December 1971) is a German Grammy Award-winning Electronic Dance Music DJ, musician and record producer. One of the first true Superstar DJs, Paul van Dyk was one of the first artists to receive a Grammy nomination in the newly added category of Best Dance/Electronic album for his 2004 release Reflections. He was named the World's No. 1 DJ in both 2005 and 2006, something less than a handful of DJs have ever achieved. Paul van Dyk is the only DJ to hold a spot in the World's Top 10 DJs since 1998. He is also the first DJ to be named No. 1 by Mixmag in 2005. As of 2007, he has sold over 4.5 million albums worldwide.
A trance producer starting in the early 1990s, Paul quickly achieved popularity with his remix of "Love Stimulation" by Humate under the record label MFS in 1993, and with his hit single, "For an Angel", but in recent times he no longer likes to describe his music as trance, but rather simply as electronic dance music.
Benjamin Pettit, better known by his stage name DJ Zinc, is a drum and bass/breakstep DJ from the United Kingdom. Zinc is well known for 1995's "Super Sharp Shooter", a hip hop/jungle fusion.
Zinc's career as a DJ and producer stretches the steady evolution of hardcore from its house and rave roots through ragga and hip hop styled hardstep and beyond.
He continued to DJ on a regular basis, and was one of the first drum and bass producers to score with the R&B slanted two step market courtesy of his 1999 single, "138 Trek".
His productions have been relatively popular outside the drum and bass scene, most notably in the breaks genre under the pseudonym Jammin. He reached #27 in the UK chart with "138 Trek" in Nov 2000.
Zinc produces and DJs as part of the Ganja Kru and True Playaz collectives, often in association with friend and mentor DJ Hype. He runs the Bingo Beats record label, which releases both drum and bass and breaks records. He has been known to release many records under the alias of Dope Skillz.
