😴 Recommended stay - Chez Bure Homestay (we loved it!): https://www.booking.com/hotel/th/bure-homestay.en.html?aid=7936148&no;_rooms=1&group;_adults=2
6. Visit the Death Railway
The Death Railway is a sad part of Thailand’s history. Originally called the Thailand-Burma Railway, it was constructed during World War II by prisoners of war and enslaved civilians under Japanese occupation. Over 100,000 laborers died during its 16 month construction because of inhumane conditions. Today, you can walk or take a train across this bridge as well as learn more about it at the Death Railway Museum or JEATH War Museum. You can also visit the nearby Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.
5. Stroll around the night market
Wherever you go in Thailand, you are never far from a night market and Kanchanaburi is no exception. Located next to the Kanchanaburi train station, this night market sells just about anything. It’s a great place to spend an evening sampling Thai cuisine, from a range of rotis and coconut-rice pancakes, to fresh juices, fried rice and noodles.
4. Visit the colorful temple Wat Tham Suea
One of our favorite temples in all of Thailand is located in the heart of the Kanchanaburi province. Set amongst stunning scenery, the Tiger Cave Temple is located on a hilltop and can be reached by a set of stairs or a small tram. Inside the temple, you can see a massive Buddha image and several chedi’s that are divided into different floors. The orange chedi offers the most incredible view of the Buddha below. But be aware that the temple is still very active, so be respectful at all times.
3. Visit the narrow cave temple Wat Tham Khao Pun
Another sacred site worth visiting near Kanchanaburi town is the limestone cave temple, which used to be a concentration camp during World War ll. Inside the cave, you can find 9 rooms that are connected by narrow passageways. Besides buddha images, you can also find a room where they illustrate the history of Kanchanaburi during the second World War. After visiting the temple, you can walk down the road and take in a beautiful view of the river and mountain scenery.
2. Relax and watch the sunset over the river
A nice peaceful thing to do in Kanchanaburi is to simply relax on the banks of the river during sunset. Many hotels, restaurants, and bars in Kanchanaburi are located along the river's edge, offering some breathtaking evening views.
1.Spend a day at Erawan waterfalls
The Erawan Falls are located about a 1.5 hour drive or bus ride from Kanchanaburi town. In the park, you can follow a scenic hiking trail to the different levels of the waterfalls, and some of the turquoise pools are a lovely spot to take a refreshing swim.

This video for Kanchanaburi is one of our older productions, but we wanted to share it with you to get some feedback on how these older clips compare to the more recent travel guides we’ve shot. Below are some links to those recent videos. Feel free to compare with this clip and comment below to let us know which ones you prefer, and what else you’d love to see from Expedia on YouTube!
St. Petersburg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The lively town of Kanchanaburi straddles the Mae Klong River in northern Thailand. When you first arrive, you might be surprised by its breezy, temperate climate, particularly if you’ve just arrived from the humid coastal region. Kanchanaburi’s mountainous border keeps its temperature warm and pleasant year-round, and that can be a welcome change from the heat simmering at Thailand’s famous beaches.
This community is both a regional commercial center and within easy access of a variety of historical and natural attractions. A Kanchanaburi tour must include a stop at the night market, which is located near the train station. Purchase delicious local fare, check out the offerings from the area’s artistic community, and get to know some of the citizens of this lively town.
Kanchanaburi was occupied by the Japanese during World War II, and there are numerous museums and memorials for you to add to your itinerary while you’re in the area. Pay a visit to the Hellfire Pass Museum, which commemorates part of the “Death Railway” that was built by Allied prisoners of war. If you’ve seen the movie “The Bridge on the River Kwai,” then you already have an idea of what the conditions were like. You can also cross the titular bridge from that movie, which has since been partially rebuilt.
Ready to experience the natural beauty Kanchanaburi is famed for? Climb aboard a Nam Tok Line train to wind your way through the gorgeous, jungle-clad mountains. If you look out the window, you’ll find the steep rock sides of the mountains just an arm’s length away. Your Kanchanaburi sightseeing must include a stop at Erawan National Park, located deep in the forest. This is the place where you get to see some of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls, as well as mosey along sunlit streams.

I could not tell the entire story but I hope that it gives you a brief overview of some of the events that took place here and a little context to why it happened. I want to thanks the Jeath Museum, the Hellfire Pass Museum , and a documentary called 'The True Story of the Bridge on the River Kwai' for allowing to learn about this part of human history.
To learn MUCH more I recommend the following places and the following documentary.

Artist conception of spontaneous psychokinesis from 1911 French magazine La Vie Mysterieuse.
Psychokinesis (from Greek ψυχή "soul" and κίνησις "movement"[1][2]), or telekinesis[3] (from τηλε- "far off" and κίνηση "movement"[4]), is an alleged psychic ability allowing a person to influence a physical system without physical interaction.[5][6]
Psychokinesis experiments have historically been criticized for lack of proper controls and repeatability.[7][8][9][10] There is no convincing evidence that psychokinesis is a real phenomenon, and the topic is generally regarded as pseudoscience.

Tenasserim Hills or Tenasserim Range (Burmese: တနင်္သာရီ တောင်တန်း, [tənɪ̀ɴθàjì tàʊɴdáɴ]; Thai: ทิวเขาตะนาวศรี, RTGS: Thio Khao Tanao Si, pronounced [tʰīw kʰǎw tā.nāːw sǐː]; Malay: Banjaran Tanah Seri/Banjaran Tenang Sari) is the geographical name of a roughly 1,700 km long mountain chain, part of the Indo-Malayan mountain system in Southeast Asia.
Despite their relatively scant altitude these mountains form an effective barrier between Thailand and Burma in their northern and central region. There are only two main transnational roads and cross-border points between Chumphon and Tak, at the Three Pagodas Pass and at Mae Sot. The latter is located beyond the northern end of the range, where the Tenasserim Hills meet the Dawna Range. Minor cross-border points are Sing Khon, near Prachuap Khiri Khan, as well as Bong Ti and Phu Nam Ron west of Kanchanaburi. The latter is expected to gain in importance if the planned Dawei deepwater port project goes ahead, along with a highway and a railway line between Bangkok and that harbor. The southern section of this extensive chain of mountains runs along the Kra Isthmus into the Malay peninsula almost reaching Singapore. Many rivers have their source in these mountains, but none of them are very long.

Berlin Wall Monument (west view). The west side of the wall is covered with graffiti that reflects hope and optimism.
Optimism is a mental attitude reflecting a belief or hope that the outcome of some specific endeavor, or outcomes in general, will be positive, favorable, and desirable. A common idiom used to illustrate optimism versus pessimism is a glass filled with water to the halfway point: an optimist is said to see the glass as half full, while a pessimist sees the glass as half empty.
The term derives from the Latin optimum, meaning "best". Being optimistic, in the typical sense of the word, is defined as expecting the best possible outcome from any given situation.[1] This is usually referred to in psychology as dispositional optimism. It thus reflects a belief that future conditions will work out for the best.[2] For this reason, it is seen as a trait that fosters resilience in the face of stress.[3]
Theories of optimism include dispositional models, and models of explanatory style. Methods to measure optimism have been developed within both theoretical systems, such as various forms of the Life Orientation Test, for the original definition of optimism, or the Attributional Style Questionnaire designed to test optimism in terms of explanatory style.
Variation in optimism and pessimism is somewhat heritable[4] and reflects biological trait systems to some degree.[5] It is also influenced by environmental factors, including family environment,[4] with some suggesting it can be learned.[6] Optimism may also be linked to health.[7]

Psychological optimismEdit
Dispositional optimismEdit

An optimist and a pessimist, Vladimir Makovsky, 1893
Researchers operationalize the term differently depending on their research. As with any trait characteristic, there are several ways to evaluate optimism, such as the Life Orientation Test (LOT). This 8-item scale was developed in 1985 by Michael Scheier and Charles Carver.[8]
Dispositional optimism and pessimism[9] are typically assessed by asking people whether they expect future outcomes to be beneficial or negative (see below). The LOT returns separate optimism and pessimism scores for each individual. Behaviourally, these two scores correlate around r = 0.5. Optimistic scores on this scale predict better outcomes in relationships,[10] higher social status,[11] and reduced loss of well-being following adversity.[12] Health preserving behaviors are associated with optimism while health-damaging behaviors are associated with pessimism.[13]
Some have argued that optimism is the opposite end of a single dimension with pessimism[14], with any distinction between them reflecting factors such as social desirability. Confirmatory modelling, however, supports a two-dimensional model[15] and the two dimensions predict different outcomes.[16] Genetic modelling confirms this independence, showing that pessimism and optimism are inherited as independent traits, with the typical correlation between them emerging as a result of a general well-being factor and family environment influences.[4] It is suggested that patients with high dispositional optimism appear to have stronger immune system since it buffers it against psychological stressors.[17] Optimists appear to live longer.[18]
Explanatory styleEdit
Explanatory style is distinct from dispositional theories of optimism. While related to life-orientation measures of optimism, attributional style theory suggests that dispositional optimism and pessimism are reflections of the ways people explain events, i.e., that attributions cause these dispositions.[19] Here, an optimist would view defeat as temporary, does not apply to other cases, and is not considered his fault.[20] Measures of attributional style distinguish three dimensions among explanations for events: Whether these explanations draw on internal versus external causes; whether the causes are viewed as stable versus unstable; and whether explanations apply globally versus being situationally specific. In addition, the measures distinguish attributions for positive and for negative events.
An optimistic person attributes internal, stable, and global explanations to good things. Pessimistic explanations attribute these traits of stability, globality, and internality to negative events, such as difficulty in relationships.[21] Models of Optimistic and Pessimistic attributions show that attributions themselves are a cognitive style – individuals who tend to focus on the global explanations do so for all types of events, and the styles correlate among each other. In addition to this, individuals vary in how optimistic their attributions are for good events, and on how pessimistic their attributions are for bad events, but these two traits .

The British Touring Car Championship is a touring car racing series held each year in the United Kingdom, currently organized and administered by ToCA. It was established in 1958 as the British Saloon Car Championship and was renamed as the British Touring Car Championship in 1987.[1] The championship has been run to various national and international regulations over the years including FIA Group 2, FIA Group 5, FIA Group 1, FIA Group A, FIA Super Touring and FIA Super 2000. A lower-key Group N series for production cars ran for most of the 1990s.
The championship was initially run with a mix of classes, divided according to engine capacity, racing simultaneously. This often meant that a driver who chose the right class could win the overall championship without any chance of overall race wins, thereby devaluing the title for the spectators -- for example, in the 1980s Chris Hodgetts won two overall titles in a small Toyota Corolla prepared by Hughes Of Beaconsfield, at that time a Mercedes-Benz/Toyota main dealer when most of the race wins were going to much larger cars; and while the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500s were playing at the front of the field, Frank Sytner took a title in a Class B BMW M3 and John Cleland's first title was won in a small Class C Vauxhall Astra.
After the domination (and expense) of the Ford Sierra Cosworth in the late 1980s, the BTCC was the first to introduce a 2.0 L formula, in 1990, which later became the template for the Supertouring class that exploded throughout Europe. The BTCC continued to race with Supertouring until 2000 and for 2001 adopted its own BTC Touring rules. However, the Super 2000 rules have now been observed for the overall championship since the 2007 season. The 2000s have seen cheaper cars than the later Supertouring era, with fewer factory teams and fewer international drivers.
In 2009, the BTCC released details of its Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) specification, to be introduced from 2011. The introduction of these new technical regulations were designed to dramatically reduce the design, build and running costs of the cars and engines as well as reducing the potential for significant performance disparities between cars. The NGTC specification also aimed to cut costs by reducing reliance on WTCC/S2000 equipment, due to increasing costs/complexity and concerns as to its future sustainability and direction.[2]
