Furnace Cycles On and Off - Flame Sensor Cleaning - Furnace Troubleshooting
Subscribe and visit http://www.thedrainclaw.com. For a furnace that is cycling on and off, the problem is usually the flame sensor. By removing the flame sensor and cleaning it, you can get your furnace to cycle properly. When you remove the flame sensor, try not to touch the rod and clean it with a slightly abrasive material. You can use sandpaper or an emery cloth. Make sure to wipe off any sanding dust with a dry clean cloth. Clean your flame sensor once a year and you will add life to the sensor.- published: 14 Nov 2013

Alcohol Stove Idea
Alcohol Stove Idea
Alcohol Stove idea with aluminum cans. Alcohol Stove My Way -- by DMChoreographer Instructions and materials list in both the instructional video and listed here with added details. First, a note of caution. Razor knife blades should be very sharp to do this right. Take all precautions necessary to protect yourself. Materials needed: 2 -- soda pop cans of the same size (8 oz, 16 oz or 24 oz etc.) 1 -- standard razor blade knife 1 -- short 2 x 4 block (6″ in long enough) 2 -- short screws for mounting blade to block (wood screws of sheet metal work great) 1 -- push pin for making stove jets 1 -- strip 320 grit emery cloth (use freely on each cut prior to assembling your stove parts) 1 -- pair of scissors to make notched cuts and to make slits in inner wall 24 -- business cards or a 1/4″ thick spacer for making the inner wall 1/4″ higher than the two other cuts Instruction set: Step 1 -- Clean cans inside and out so no residue remains. Step 2 -- Mount your razor blade onto your wooden 2 x 4 block with the two short wood or sheet metal screws, this is for your scribing block. Make sure to have it mounted at a slight angle to the block. Step 3 -- Align can one along the block, next to the blade and rotate the can so as to scribe the can. This should result in eventually breaking through the can. At that point you should be able to press along the scribed edges and separate the can from the bottom half. Step 4 -- Now take your second can and scribe inside the bottom of the cans inner edge until you have a nicely scribed edge. This is to make breaking the bottom out easier. This will be your stoves top. Step 5 -- Now take your razor knife and puncture from the edge to the center and across. Make sure to do both ways 180* apart.Cutting Can Top Sections Out Step 6 -- Now, the 4 sections should easily break apart. (You may want to sand the edges so that are not sharp. Step 7 -- Repeat step 3 twice on this can. The 2nd cut on this can should be 1/4″ taller than the 1st. (This 2nd cut on this can is for your inner wall piece.) Step 8 -- Now take your inner wall strip and place it inside the bottom can as a circle, overlapping the inner strip until it sits inside the inner ring of the bottom can tight. Step 9 -- Next, lift out this inner wall strip and cut a half width cut in the center where the strip crosses, this is done so the inner wall overlaps and holds together inside the cans while they are being pressed together.) Step 10 -- Now use your scissors to make two tiny V-shaped notches in your inner wall stip. (These should be 180* apart.).Inner Wall Assembled Step 11 -- Now you are ready to assemble the stove. Insert the inner wall back into the bottom half once you have the cuts overlapped tight. Step 12 -- Now put the top over the bottom half and gently but firmly assemble by sliding the top inside the bottom half. This is a very challenging step. You don't want to create wrinkles in the stove, or either half. Step 13 -- Gradually press the two halves together and align the inner wall strip into the inner ring of the top until it's snug and tight. Small Can Stove Step 14 -- Now you are ready to use your push pin to make as many evenly spaced holes as you like. I've found 8 to 16 work about right. Depending on how many jets and what flame height you like, try varying the design for smaller and larger jets. Step 15 -- Your can stove should be complete. You might want to go over nay edges with your emery cloth to make sure everything is nice and smooth before you try it out. once it's nice and smooth take it outside, away from the wind and add just a small amount of denatured alcohol to try it out. Usually just a capful is more than enough. Step 16 -- Lighting it up. Once you've put in a cap full or so to try it out, drip a few drops along the top edge to create a fuse to light the thing up. Next, take proper caution to set aside your fuel supply can or bottle. We don't want it too close. Now light that baby up.All Lit Up Step 17 -- All lit up. It should take about 30-50 seconds to warm up and vaporize your alcohol. These fumes fuel the jets. Once the jets are lit, you can begin to cook over it. You may have to experiment with how far away from the stove your cooking surface is for best results.- published: 11 Aug 2013
