Pratyusha Banerjee

Pratyusha Banerjee is an Indian television actress. She started her career with Balika Vadhu as Anandi. She is popularly known as Anandi by her audience. She was also a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and was one of the participants of Bigg Boss 7. She has signed as a host with reality-based crime saga Savdhaan India for the special segment on "women against crime" with Hiten Tejwani and Sushant Singh as co-hosts. She has worked in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (TV series) in 2014 and was last seen in Hum Hain Na as the main female lead. Now she is contesting in Power Couple with beau Rahul.

Prathyusha

Prathyusha (29 August 1981 – 23 February 2002) was an Indian film actress who appeared in Telugu and Tamil language films. She died while undergoing treatment after she and her boyfriend, Siddhartha Reddy, consumed poison mixed in Coca-Cola. Although Prathuysha died, her boyfriend survived. The case and inquiry following her death was reported widely in the media.

Career

Pratyusha was born in Bhuvanagiri, Telangana into a middle-class family. She won the title for best smile and entered the film industry at the age of 17 to support her family since her father died during her childhood. Her mother, Mrs. Sarojini Devi, is a government school teacher. Her brother Praneet Chandra (Krishna Chandra) is about to enter movies as a hero.

Pratyusha's final release was the delayed 2004 Sathyaraj film Sound Party, for which she won good reviews.

After her death, her mother started a charity in her name.

Death

Prathyusha died on 23 February 2002 after committing suicide in a suicide pact with her boyfriend Siddhartha Reddy, reportedly after their family members rejected their marriage proposal. Pratyusha died while undergoing treatment at Care Hospital, while Siddartha recovered after treatment. The case was widely discussed in the media and attracted public attention as the suspicion of murder arose on Siddhartha, and after a forensic expert opined that the cause of her death was 'asphyxia due to manual strangulation'. The report was referred to Professor T D Dogra, an eminent forensic expert and Head of Forensic Division, at All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi. The doctor's report was then found to be faulty. In 2004, Siddhartha Reddy was sentenced to five years' imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs. 6,000 as he was found guilty of suicide attempt and abetting Pratyusha to commit suicide.

Banerjee or Bandopadhyay is a surname in the Bengal region of India and are often used interchangeably. The name is also spelt Bannerjee, Banerji, Banerjie, Bonnerjee, Bandopadhyaya and Bandyopadhyay.

Tagore family

The family surname of the Tagores is Banerjee (Bandopadhyay).

According to their family tradition the Tagores trace their descent from Rarheya Brahmins of Shandilya clan from Kanauj who settled in the region situated on the right bank of river Hooghly(Rarh) in the eighth century A.D. Bhattanarayana was a Brahmin of this clan who was an established Saskrit Littérateur. Around the tenth century A.D, one of his sons Dinanath migrated to the other side of the river where he got a gift of 'Kush gram' in Burdwan. Thus he came to be known as Dinanath Kushari giving up his own surname Bandyopadhyay. Later the Kusharis (descendants of Dinanath Kushari) migrated to Jessore, Khulna.

Rahul Raj is an Indian composer. He has composed and produced original scores and soundtracks for Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil movies.

Early life

Rahul Raj was born on 17 March in Cochin to Advocate E. Thankappan and N. S. Kunjoonjamma. His schooling was in Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, Cochin. He has one sister, Rehna Raj. From the age of 6, he was trained in Mridangam (South Indian Percussion instrument) and Carnatic Music. He graduated as an IT Engineer from CUSAT, Cochin and later on pursued courses such as CCNP and CCIE in Bangalore ILloka networks, before moving to London.

During his stint in London, he had undergone training in Electronic Sound Production. He helped Pradeep Menon, a UK-based Indian businessman, remix a Tamil Ayappa record that was originally produced, composed and sung by Pradeep Menon and Shashi Kumar in 1985. The devotional album produced in the UK, Canada and India is titled Sabari Beats. It was released in November 2002 by Super recording in Tamil Nadu. Noted musicians like Pravin Mani, Saroja, and Kamalakar were featured. This launched Rahul Raj's career. He also arranged another song for Pradeep Menon called "Krishna Krishna" with percussionist Sivamani and James Asher from UK. He is married to Miriam, a German national and has a daughter Akshaine, who was born in 2012.
