Oddworld has been launched on multiple platforms including: PlayStation, Xbox, PlayStation 3, Windows, Wii U and PC. In Oddworld games, players can use the GameSpeak feature which allows players to interact with computer characters. Backstory: Oddworld is a planet in another dimension which all the Oddworld games take place. In all the games, the planet Oddworld’s nature and beauty is threatened by corporations looking to profit. Lorne Lanning, Oddworld Inhabitants cofounder, wanted to create a game that would bring to light issues in today’s society such as capitalism, the fast food industry and third world exploitation. The main species in the game are the mudokons who are described as spiritual and peaceful creatures. Abe, also known as Stitch Lips, is the primary character in the Oddworld franchise. He is a Mudokon and is known as the Messiah of the Mudokons. He is a purplish blue color as opposed to the neutral green color of the Mudokons. Abe has a tattoo on his chest with five horizontal lines which represent each game in the Oddworld Quintology. Abe began his life as most of the Mudokons did in an industrial establishment at RuptureFarms. Abe was eventually able to free himself from RuptureFarms because of his ability to posses other beings. Gameplay: The first game in the Oddworld franchise is Abe’s Oddysee. It is a platform game where players can travel the world of Oddworld while solving puzzles, going through obstacles and avoiding enemies to save his fellow Mudokons. Throughout the game, Abe is attacked by Sligs, Scrabs and Paramies. Transcript: Before Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee was released in Japan, the Mudokons’ four fingers were reduced to three to avoid resemblance to a hand gesture that was offensive to a subclass of Japanese meatpackers who had frequent accidents in the work place. Independent Game developer "Just Add Water" were fans of the series and contacted Oddworld Inhabitants to recreate it. This relationship not only brought Oddworld Inhabitants back to the industry, it also introduced Abe to a whole new generation of gamers in the form of the Abe’s Oddysee remake New ‘n’ Tasty. Oddworld Inhabitants cofounder Lorne Lanning wanted a game that would use oddball humor to open the players’ eyes to real world issues such as third world exploitation, the fast food industry, and capitalism. The Mudokons, for example, were the embodiment of diamond miners and indigenous cultures forced to become financially dependent on larger countries. Check out the most popular Lore videos below.
