28 Fundamental Beliefs [Their Origin and Development]—Pastor Ted Wilson
We Seventh-day Adventists establish all our beliefs on the Bible alone. Our church doesn't have a set creed. Instead, we have 28 fundamental beliefs that express what we believe the Bible teaches.
In this episode, Pastor Ted Wilson shares how these beliefs developed.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a movement that began the providential unfolding of the Bible prophecy to prepare people for Christ's second coming. In the mid-19th century, God used a preacher named William Miller to proclaim the first angel's message in Revelation 14.
It states, "Fear God and give glory to Him for the hour of His judgment has come" (verse 7). Thousands accepted this message and believed that Christ was indeed coming. However, some professed Christian churches rejected the idea. Hence, "Babylon i...

Vision in the Storm by Rachel Whitaker Cabose
Did you know that teenagers played a significant role in the early days of the Seventh-day Adventist church? Ellen and James White, Annie and Uriah Smith, John Harvey Kellogg, and J. N. Andrews were not always as old as they appear in the black-and-white pictures we have of them. God used them while they were young. Their amazing faith enabled them to follow what God wanted them to do.
Great surprises await you as you read the pages of this exciting book!

Defeating Adventism #77 – Report on the Seventh-day Adventist 2022 General Conference
The Seventh-day Adventist church has conducted a face-to-face General Conference secession in St. Louis Missouri. These meeting are always of interest due to the decisions this official group makes and for also forecasting what the church will be focusing on the near future. The events of this conference are recorded in a special Conference edition in the Adventist Review Magazine. The resolutions proposed and adopted are recorded as well as a limited amount of debate and discussion surrounding the resolutions.
Of importance in this 2022 conference is the theological sickening resolution allowing each SDA church to appoint a “Spirit of Prophecy Writings Coordinator.” This resolution solidifies the ultra-important role Ellen White continues to have in this false church.

Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater, websites: http://www.BibleQuery.org, http://www.HistoryCart.com, & http://www.MuslimHope.com, email: cdebater@aol.com) is joined in studio by former Seventh Day Adventist pastor Dale Ratzlaff (email: dale@ratzlaf.com) who relates his personal testimony of why he left the Seventh Day Adventist religion & why Ellen G. White is a false prophet.
Dale is author of Sabbath in Christ, The Cultic Doctrine of Seventh-day Adventists, The Truth About the Seventh-day Adventist Truth, and Adventist to Christian. Dale was an Adventist pastor for 13 years, seven of which he spent teaching Bible at Monterey Bay Academy , La Selva Beach, California. During his doctoral studies at Andrews University in the 1980’s, Dale became convinced that the 1844 investigative judgment could not be supported by Scripture. Since he could no longer teach this doctrine, he and his wife Carolyn left the Adventist denomination.
The Seventh-day Adventist doctrine of the investigative judgment and cleansing of the heavenly Sanctuary based upon Daniel 8:14 is indeed the central pillar of the Adventist faith. Some Adventists may disagree; however, it is. Ellen White said, “The scripture which above all others had been both the foundation and central pillar of the Advent faith was the declaration, ‘Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed’.
A recent book by Dr. Roy Adams is subtitled, Understanding the Heart of Adventist Theology, and it confirms this. The Adult Sabbath School Bible Study Guide, 2001, is entitled, Pillars of Our Faith. It includes chapters on “The Sabbath”, “The Heavenly Sanctuary”, “The Hour of God’s Judgment”, “The Remnant”, etc. The last two presidents of the General Conference have both expressed publicly that the Adventist church will not change.
•Ellen G. White said that Daniel 8:14 is the foundation and central pillar of the Advent faith.

•A recent Adult Sabbath School Bible Study Guide, entitled, The pillars of our faith includes chapters on the “The Sabbath”, “The Heavenly Sanctuary”, “The Hour of God’s Judgment”, and “The Remnant”. It includes this quotation from Early Writings, p. 263, “Jesus entered the most holy of the heavenly, at the end of the 2300 days of Daniel 8, in 1844, to make final atonement for all who could be benefitted by His mediation, and thus to cleanse the sanctuary.”
•Dr. Roy Gane stated that he was excited to know that Ratzlaff understood that the sanctuary was central to Adventists.
•Dr. Richard Davidson referred to the sanctuary as the heart of doctrine.
•Dr. Angel Rodriguez, professor of theology at the Adventist seminary and associate director of the Adventist Biblical Research Institute, stated forthrightly, “Without 1844 and the doctrine of the Sanctuary ... there is no reason for us to exist. 1844 provided for us our identity and our mission. And if we are wrong, then we are simply wrong.”
We can see that the stakes are high.
There are many, perhaps the majority, of Adventist pastors and Bible teachers who want to run as far away from Daniel 8:14, 1844 and the investigative judgment, and the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary as possible. Yet the church cannot dismiss this doctrine. This doctrine is not only the central pillar in name, it is the central pillar holding up the whole Adventist identity. That is why the last two General Conference presidents have openly endorsed Ellen White and the sanctuary doctrine. If they were to admit the errors of October 22, 1844, and the investigative judgment as the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary as taught by Ellen White, then Ellen White would fall as “a continuing and authoritative source of truth”.

Hence, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen" (verse 8).
When Jesus didn't come as they expected on October 22, 1844, many of them left the Advent movement. Fortunately, a small remnant remained. They determined to diligently study and understand the Scripture better. As a result, they saw that the end of the 2300-day prophecy in Daniel 8:14 didn't culminate in Christ's coming to earth. Instead, it ushered in a new phase of His ministry in the heavenly sanctuary.
With continued prayer and study with open hearts and minds, these remnant believers uncovered more truths. One of which was the full meaning of the three angels' messages of Revelation 14. Another was the importance of keeping the holy Sabbath day. Others were the non-immortality of the soul, the state of the dead, and the second coming of Christ.
About 10 years after the Great Disappointment, the small remnant had grown into almost 1,000 believers. They didn't have an official name that time yet, but they had an official publication called The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald.
On the front page of the August 15, 1854 issue of this publication, these five "Leading Doctrines Taught by the Review" were included:
"The Bible, and the Bible alone, the rule of faith and duty."
"The law of God, as taught in the Old and New Testaments, unchangeable."
"The personal advent of Christ and the resurrection of the just, before the millennium."
"The earth restored to its Eden perfection and glory, the final inheritance of the saints."
"Immortality alone through Christ, to be given to the saints at the resurrection."
In 1863, the group officially named itself the Seventh-day Adventist. It reflects two prominent beliefs—the importance of the seventh-day Sabbath and looking forward to the Second Advent of Christ.
The church's first formal statement of beliefs was published in 1872 entitled "A Declaration of the Fundamental Principles Taught and Practiced by the Seventh-day Adventists." Listed here were 25 points drawn from Bible study, beginning with the statement, saying, "We wish to have it distinctly understood that we have no articles of faith, creed, or discipline aside from the Bible." It explained that it was "a brief statement of what is, and has been, with great unanimity, held by [Seventh-day Adventists]."
On June 4, 1874, the declaration of the Fundamental Principles was published again, this time in the first issue of The Signs of the Times. It was republished in 1875, and again in 1889.
The next statement of our beliefs came 42 years later. Some points were combined, making a total of 22. They were renamed "Fundamental Beliefs of Seventh-day Adventists." These were published in the 1931 Seventh-day Adventist Yearbook and the 1932 Church Manual.
Through the coming years, changes and minor revisions were made. By 1980, the fundamental beliefs included 27 points and were adopted at the 1980 General Conference Session in Dallas, Texas.
In 2005, the delegates to the GC session in St. Louis, Missouri voted to add "Growing in Christ'' to the fundamental beliefs, making a total of 28. These 28 beliefs are what we have now, though the present form was the result of further revisions in 2015.
Indeed, the Lord has led the Advent movement step by step into a more complete understanding of who He is, who we are, and what His wonderful plans for us are, as revealed in the Bible.
In the next episodes, Pastor Ted will discuss the 28 fundamental beliefs one by one. Stay tuned.

Stay tuned.

Your Chatbot Must Be Able To Disambiguate. Disambiguation Is Part & Parcel Of Human Conversations And Should Be Part Of Your Chatbot Experience.
IBM Watson has a built-in feature which allows for the configuration of disambiguation. In this practical example you can toggle the feature on or off.
Apart from this you can set the message explaining the clarification, the default is, "Did you mean"…this could be changed to "This might help" or, "This is what I could find".
An option is also available for none of the above and the maximum number of suggestions can be limited. The scope and size of the dialog will determine what this number might be.
This also provides a central point where disambiguation can be switched off; this of this as a global toggle switch to enable or disable this feature.
Apart from this, each node can be added or removed individually as the structure of the application changes.
Here the name of the node becomes important as this is what will be displayed to the user.
Hence it is crucial that the name of the node is clear, presentable and
explains the function and intention of the node it names.
Here is a short tutorial on the functionality and setup.
