Fallen London is the prequel to Sunless Sea, a well-received PC game that mixed naval exploration within a chose your own adventure format.

It started as a browser-based experience that expanded with new stories and plot-lines, now filled with 1.5 million words.

It does require a bit of grinding as you need certain skills to advance the story but you'll definitely make your own path in this strange vision of London.

It's so peculiar it's almost an entire genre of its own and for free, there's no reason not to at least try to peek into this world.
