By announcing the competition, Munich wish to pay tribute to the happy 25 years past since the Conclusion of Peace in1871, the work consists of several styles and was designed by three architects and sculptors, Helmeyer,—and Pezzled who needed four years for the work. Decorative stairs and a fountain are placed in front of the statue standing on a column. The statue and the whole decoration have been regilded in recent years, perhaps in order to remind us that the more or less peaceful years since the end of World War II.
