The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (UCIMC) is located in the historic Post Office building in the heart of downtown Urbana. We have a number of studio and office spaces available. As a non-profit organization, the UCIMC offers these spaces at affordable rates for your use.

Room 215
Studio for rent in the Independent Media Center, downtown Urbana. Very convenient location. Close to bus, library and shopping (as are all of the spaces listed here, of course). This room is 231sq. ft. and rents for $330 per mo; Has medium brown wood panel wall covering, exposed mechanical ducts just below the ceiling, and regular square-tile floors. Many linear feet of shelving for the room are in storage, with the tenant having the choice as to whether they become re-affixed to the walls. Can be used as an artist's(s') studio or small business office or production facility. Utilities included; Parking, Internet, and phone services are available.
There are no windows in this room.
Room 102
$505 / 304 ft² - Office or Artist/Musician Studio Space (IMC) (unavailable until early Feb. 2016)
This space can serve as either an office or an artist's(s') studio. The room is situated on the main floor of the IMC, with three large tall windows that offer a nice view of the oft-times bustling intersection that's part of a lively transport hub at the IMC grounds' northwest corner. It is 304 sq. ft. and carpeted (berber piling).
Room 102 also contains exclusive access to its own very nice restroom amenity that has beautiful accents and wall and floor finishes including: marble walls, beehive patterned (small hexagon) ceramic floor tiling boardered by more marble, a wood-framed mirror, and a pendant light fixture. The whole room is the only private office space off of that particular enclosed stairwell landing area. It shares just a small portion of wall area with the thick-walled (well sound insulated) next door radio station booth. Rent is $505/mo. Room 226
This large space can serve as either an office or an artist's(s') studio --and perhaps be partitioned and rent-shared as a double office for two compatible businesses; or be used as a teaching space. The room is on the second floor; and has a sink and regular square-tile floors. From the roofline view of its five windows can also be seen a pan of neighboring buildings; potentially, your vehicle --pending whether and where you rent the IMC's on-site parking; and a bustling far intersection that lays beyond the IMC building site's northeast corner. Rent is $745/mo. Utilities included; Parking, Internet, and phone services are available.
Historic Post Office Building
Although painted in stylish and smart colors, the historic ambiance has been maintained throughout the building. From high ceilings, to natural woodwork, to marble flooring, to large paned windows flooding the space with natural light, no detail has been overlooked. Yet, with the historic preservation, several modern amenities are offered including individual climate control, and secure entries. Phone, fast internet, and on site parking available as well as additional costs.
Save overhead by securing private office space while using the UCIMC common performance, conference, and meetings spaces on a hourly basis.
UCIMC is ideally located in downtown Urbana. The Post Office remains at this location, and Lincoln Square Village, the Historic Lincoln Hotel and both the County and Federal Courthouses surround the building.

Transportation
Transportation to and from UCIMC is easy.
On-site parking is available at the best rate in downtown Urbana - $30 per month. Visitor parking is only 25 cents an hour in the city parking deck right across the street.
MTD bus service operates a main hub right across the street, providing routing service throughout the C-U area.
The Bike Coop is located inside UCIMC, providing you with yet another means of healthy and eco-friendly transportation
Sought-after UCIMC Amenities
UCIMC houses a community center, complete with a stage, professional lighting and sound equipment. This provides an opportunity to hold conferences, workshops, and other events on-site at hourly rates. There are other smaller meeting rooms available, as well as a public computer access lab.
WRFU 104.5 FM (Radio Free Urbana) is on-site and available for you to broadcast shows in areas of your expertise.
Professional video and audio equipment and training are available both off-site and in UCIMC's production room for members who have been trained and oriented.
Connect with diverse UCIMC artists in residence for additional artistic support and inspiration or make use of our woodshop/workshop area, complete with woodworking tools and other artist's supplies.
General building and grounds maintenance is provided.
