Hi Guys,
Here is a run through and explanation of the guitar rigs that PeteyG and Nolly are currently operating, followed by an audio demonstration of some of the tones we use.
The audio in these demos is the combined signal of both the Zilla Fatboy and Super Fatboy mic'd up with a Shure SM57 & SM57B.

Perdido is the deepest floating oil rig (platform) in the world at a water depth of about 2450 meters operated by the Shell Oil Company in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Perdido is located in the Perdido fold belt which is a rich discovery of crude oil and natural gas that lies in water that is nearly 8000 feet deep. The platform's peak production will be 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. At 267 meters, the Perdido is nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower.
An oil rig is a large structure with facilities to drill wells, to extract and process oil and natural gas, and to temporarily store product until it can be brought to shore for refining and marketing. In many cases, the platform contains facilities to house the workforce as well.

Here is a tutorial on how to rig a popping cork for redfish and trout. The popping cork is an extremely effective and simple technique to catch fish. The tools needed include a medium to light spinning rod, soft plastic lure or ½ -1/4 ounce DOA shrimp, 20-30lb fluorocarbon monofilament leader and a popping cork. I chose the Cajun Thunder cork because of durability, and construction with both plastic and brass beads. The thrashing of the cork resonates a high pitch noise that fish cannot resist. When the fish investigate the surface commotion, they are quickly greeted by the artificial lure, which entices the strike. You want to retrieve at different speeds and test different cadences for best results. Add a little touch of Gulp spray to your lure for an additional advantage. Here's an easy Paternoster rig, yes there are quite a few ways to tie the Paternoster rig, but when we are out fishing with a heap of customers, this one is about the quickest and fastest method. We use 100lb mono line as we do go through a lot of leader and this works fine. Was using 80lb but losing some really big fish. 100lb doesn't seem to affect the bites, but you can adept to your local area. Although lighter line, sinkers etc does help with shy fish. Make sure you go through three times whem doing your loops for hooks when tying the Paternoster rig, and up to you, can do for one or two hooks. If getting into big fish, the only problem with double hookups is we were losing the bottom hookand fish with the fish fighting each other and breaking the line Unfortunately, That's Fishing, but extra tuff when you're talking 10kg Red Emperor or Huge Nannygai. See how you end up with the Sinker on the bottome and two hooks. Excellant for reef fishing or deep sea fishing in deep water. Also allows a couple of baits to be presented. Another bonus of this rig is you can adjust your sinkers weight and hook sizes if need be or conditions change. Make sure you're loops aren't too big to avoid tangles and bad twisting of the line, and the Paternoster loops need to be big enough to go over your hooks. Give it a go next time you go fishing.

Red Sea rig, sometimes known as gulf rig or schooner rig, is a dress code for semi-formal evening events, which in general consists of black tie attire with the jacket removed, a red bow tie and red cummerbund, although there are local variations.
Red Sea rig was originally a Royal Navy concept appearing c. 1800. Historically, it was felt that Royal Navy officers, being gentlemen, should wear the full appropriate uniform for all formal events, whatever the temperature. The sole exception was in the Red Sea, where the heat and humidity often made this physically impossible. Here, officers were permitted to remove their jackets in the wardroom, provided they added a cummerbund to temper the somewhat informal look. Royal Air Force officers serving on Navy ships follow the naval tradition wearing a Red Sea rig version of their own mess dress.
In his reminiscences For King and Country, Nelson Albert Tomalin describes a rather home-made version of Red Sea rig worn onboard the whaler Southern Sea in 1943 as "...white shirt with epaulettes and long blue trousers with a black scarf as a cummerbund...".

The Red Sea is a seawater inlet of the Indian Ocean, lying between Africa and Asia. The connection to the ocean is in the south through the Bab el Mandeb strait and the Gulf of Aden. In the north, there is the Sinai Peninsula, the Gulf of Aqaba, and the Gulf of Suez (leading to the Suez Canal). The Red Sea is a Global 200 ecoregion. The sea is underlain by the Red Sea Rift which is part of the Great Rift Valley.
The Red Sea has a surface area of roughly 438,000 km² (169,100 mi²). It is about 2250 km (1398 mi) long and, at its widest point, 355 km (220.6 mi) wide. It has a maximum depth of 2211 m (7254 ft) in the central median trench, and an average depth of 490 m (1,608 ft). However, there are also extensive shallow shelves, noted for their marine life and corals. The sea is the habitat of over 1,000 invertebrate species, and 200 soft and hard corals. It is the world's northernmost tropical sea.
The International Hydrographic Organization defines the limits of the Red Sea as follows:
On the North. The Southern limits of the Gulfs of Suez [A line running from Ràs Muhammed (27°43'N) to the South point of Shadwan Island (34°02'E) and thence Westward on a parallel (27°27'N) to the coast of Africa] and Aqaba [A line running from Ràs al Fasma Southwesterly to Requin Island (27°57′N 34°36′E / 27.95°N 34.6°E / 27.95; 34.6) through Tiran Island to the Southwest point thereof and thence Westward on a parallel (27°54'N) to the coast of the Sinaï Peninsula].

"Defective Character" heads east from Galveston, Texas to fish for snapper, kingfish, and redfish. The live well gets full so we head back home short of our limit. Fishing report for Galveston, Texas. Best bait is live shrimp. Species caught red drum, redfish, sheepshead, red snapper, sand trout, dogfish, hardhead, and king mackeral (kingfish). Most tackle used is 7 ft medium heavy rods. 30-65 lb braid. Circle hooks with 100 lb mono crimped leader 1-3 ft. Water depth less than 50 ft. Location secret fishing hole very close to Bolivar Peninsula. Green water has moved in very close to shore. Seas 2-4 ft 18 mph east winds.

Perdido is the deepest floating oil rig (platform) in the world at a water depth of about 2450 meters operated by the Shell Oil Company in the Gulf of Mexico. The Perdido is located in the Perdido fold belt which is a rich discovery of crude oil and natural gas that lies in water that is nearly 8000 feet deep. The platform's peak production will be 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. At 267 meters, the Perdido is nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower. An oil rig is a large structure with facilities to drill wells, to extract and process oil and natural gas, and to temporarily store product until it can be brought to shore for refining and marketing. In many cases, the platform contains facilities to house the workforce as well. -

The tools needed include a medium to light spinning rod, soft plastic lure or ½ -1/4 ounce DOA shrimp, 20-30lb fluorocarbon monofilament leader and a popping cork. I chose the Cajun Thunder cork because of durability, and construction with both plastic and brass beads. The thrashing of the cork resonates a high pitch noise that fish cannot resist. When the fish investigate the surface commotion, they are quickly greeted by the artificial lure, which entices the strike. Quick and easy Paternoster Fishing Rig!!
http://www.reefari.com Here's an easy Paternoster rig, yes there are quite a few ways to tie the Paternoster rig, but when we are out fishing with a heap of customers, this one is about the quickest and fastest method. We use 100lb mono line as we do go through a lot of leader and this works fine. Was using 80lb but losing some really big fish. 100lb doesn't seem to affect the bites, but you can adept to your local area. Although lighter line, sinkers etc does help with shy fish. Make sure you go through three times whem doing your loops for hooks when tying the Paternoster rig, and up to you, can do for one or two hooks. If getting into big fish, the only problem with double hookups is we were losing the bottom hookand fish with the fish fighting each other and breaking the line... -

Fishing report for Galveston, Texas. Best bait is live shrimp. Species caught red drum, redfish, sheepshead, red snapper, sand trout, dogfish, hardhead, and king mackeral (kingfish). Most tackle used is 7 ft medium heavy rods. 30-65 lb braid. Circle hooks with 100 lb mono crimped leader 1-3 ft. Water depth less than 50 ft. Location secret fishing hole very close to Bolivar Peninsula. Green water has moved in very close to shore. Seas 2-4 ft 18 mph east winds. -

http://www.reefari.com Try a Paternoster rig with just Soft plastics, I've been using the Berkley gulp soft plastics with great success, and these have been working well on a Paternoster Rig, this enables you to get them down into the deep water, when deep sea or reef fishing. I originally was bit of a sceptic of soft plastics but have been converted and well worth a try for reef fishing. The Berkley gulp 6" Grubs, and Squid viscious are ideal on the hooks on Your Paternoster rig. In this video I used circle hooks and the beauty is the motion of the boat rocking is enough action for the soft plastics/lures, and they will hook themselve in the corner of the mouth. See how you end up with the Sinker on the bottome and two hooks. Excellant for reef fishing or deep sea fishing in deep water. Also allows a couple of baits to be presented. Another bonus of this rig is you can adjust your sinkers weight and hook sizes if need be or conditions change. Make sure you're loops aren't too big to avoid tangles and bad twisting of the line, and the Paternoster loops need to be big enough to go over your hooks. Give it a go next time you go fishing.

See how you end up with the Sinker on the bottome and two hooks. Excellant for reef fishing or deep sea fishing in deep water. Also allows a couple of baits to be presented. Another bonus of this rig is you can adjust your sinkers weight and hook sizes if need be or conditions change. Make sure you're loops aren't too big to avoid tangles and bad twisting of the line, and the Paternoster loops need to be big enough to go over your hooks. Give it a go next time you go fishing.

A semi-submersible (semisubmerged ship) is a specialized marine vessel used in a number of specific offshore roles such as offshore drilling rigs, safety vessels, oil production platforms, and heavy lift cranes. They are designed with good stability and sea keeping characteristics. Other terms include semisubmersible, semi-sub, or simply semi.
Offshore drilling in water depth greater than around 520 meters requires that operations be carried out from a floating vessel, as fixed structures are not practical. Initially in the early 1950s monohull ships were used like CUSS I, but these were found to have significant heave, pitch and yaw motions in large waves, and the industry needed more stable drilling platforms.
A semi-submersible obtains its buoyancy from ballasted, watertight pontoons located below the ocean surface and wave action. The operating deck can be located high above the sea level due to the good stability of the design, and therefore the operating deck is kept well away from the waves. Structural columns connect the pontoons and operating deck.

I originally was bit of a sceptic of soft plastics but have been converted and well worth a try for reef fishing. The Berkley gulp 6" Grubs, and Squid viscious are ideal on the hooks on Your Paternoster rig. In this video I used circle hooks and the beauty is the motion of the boat rocking is enough action for the soft plastics/lures, and they will hook themselve in the corner of the mouth. It doesn't get easier than that. We've caught a good variety of reef fish on these including Red Emperor, Redthroat and Grassy Sweetlip, cod, trevally, coral trout, Nannygai and heaps more.
I also used a Nitro Elevator jighead as your weight on the bottom of your Paternoster rig, This also acts as a lure working and bouncing across the bottom, although you do have to be careful you don't get the soft plastic snagged. Normally just take up a wind or two. I got some good fish on this trip taking it easy using the soft plastics on a Paternoster rig and is well worth a try.
Check out our easy how to tie a Paternoster rig video and just use this with the Berkley gulp soft plastics. We have also been using the Plastics with Bait, this has also been very effective, making for a larger bait with Colour and more action. Red Sea Rig, named for the short sleeves and light attire needed in the broiling Red Sea, translates as 'Informal, open necked short-sleeved shirt for gentlemen - tie not required.' Sundown Rig means 'Semi-formal, long sleeved shirt with tie - jacket not required.' And Mess Dress means 'Formal' with no other explanation ... Fortunately tonight is Red Sea Rig, so I make the cut....
