"In Love" is a song written by Mike Reid and Bruce Dees, and recorded by American country music artist Ronnie Milsap. It was released in June 1986 as the third single from the album Lost in the Fifties Tonight.
"In Love" was Milsap's 44th single to be released, and his 29th No. 1 hit on the Billboard country charts. The song came during the peak of his success as country music singer as it was part of an uninterrupted string of several No. 1 hits to his credit.
The song was also one of several songs written by songwriter Reid which became major hits for Milsap.
The Belmonts are an American doo-wop group from the Bronx, New York, that originated in the mid-1950s. The original group consisted of Fred Milano, Angelo D'Aleo, and Carlo Mastrangelo. They took their name from Belmont Avenue, the street Milano lived on. There were several stages in their history, including the 1958–1960 period with Dion DiMucci, when the group was named Dion and the Belmonts. At this time Mastrangelo sang the bass parts, Milano the second tenor, D'Aleo the falsetto, and DiMucci did lead vocals.
The Belmonts' first single, "Teenage Clementine" / "Santa Margherita," was recorded in 1957 for arranger Irving Spice's New York based Mohawk Records. Unlike subsequent recordings, Milano did the lead vocal on the "A" side, "Teenage Clementine", and D'Aleo sang lead on "Santa Margherita". Also recording on the label was Dion DiMucci, whose first release was backed by a group he never met, the Timberlanes. DiMucci added the lead vocal to existing pre-recorded tracks, and the final composition was released as "The Chosen Few" / "Out In Colorado", by "Dion and the Timberlanes". After receiving some airplay on the East Coast, the single was later leased to the larger Jubilee Records label for better distribution, although it failed to chart nationally. DiMucci states he never knew then, or now, who the Timberlanes were: "The vocal group was so white bread, I went back to my neighborhood and I recruited a bunch of guys, three guys, and we called ourselves Dion and the Belmonts."
Dion and the Belmonts were a leading American vocal group of the late 1950s. All members were from the Bronx, New York City. The group formed when Dion DiMucci, lead singer (born July 18, 1939), joined The Belmonts – Carlo Mastrangelo, bass-baritone (born October 5, 1938), Fred Milano, second tenor (August 22, 1939 – January 1, 2012), and Angelo D'Aleo, first tenor (born February 3, 1940), in late 1957.
The name The Belmonts was derived from the fact that two of the four singers lived on Belmont Avenue in the Bronx, and the other two lived near Belmont Avenue.
After unsuccessful singles on Mohawk Records in 1957 and then on Jubilee Records ("The Chosen Few" Dion & the Timberlanes not the Belmonts), Dion was paired with The Belmonts. The group signed with Laurie Records in early 1958. The breakthrough came when their very first Laurie release, "I Wonder Why", reached No. 22 on the Billboard Top 100 charts, and they appeared for the first time on the nationally televised American Bandstand show, hosted by Dick Clark. Dion said of the Belmonts, "I'd give 'em sounds. I'd give 'em parts and stuff. That's what 'I Wonder Why' was about. We kind of invented this percussive rhythmic sound. If you listen to that song, everybody was doing something different. It was totally amazing. When I listen to it today, often times I think, 'Man, those kids are talented'." Dion and the Belmonts were the sound of the city. Their roots were groups like The Flamingos, The Five Satins, The Dells, acts who developed their sound in urban settings on street corners, mimicking instruments with their voices, even complex jazz arrangements.
The English subjunctive is used to form sentences that do not describe known objective facts. These include statements about one's state of mind, such as opinion, belief, purpose, intention, or desire. The subjunctive mood is also used for statements that are contrary to fact, such as If I were a giraffe, … (subjunctive), as distinguished from I was a giraffe. Subjunctive statements often occur in dependent clauses, such as the subjunctive example in the preceding sentence. It contrasts with the indicative mood, which is used for statements of fact, such as He speaks English.
In Modern English, the subjunctive form of a verb often looks identical to the indicative form, and thus subjunctives are not a very visible grammatical feature of English. For most verbs, the only distinct subjunctive form is found in the third person singular of the present tense, where the subjunctive lacks the -s ending: It is necessary that he see a doctor (contrasted with the indicative he sees). However, the verb be has not only a distinct present subjunctive (be, as in I suggest that he be removed) but also a past subjunctive were (as in If he were rich, …).
"A Teenager in Love" is a song written by Doc Pomus and partner Mort Shuman and was originally sung and released by Dion and the Belmonts in March 1959. It reached #5 on the Billboard pop charts. In May 1959, the song held three positions in the British Top 20, the other two versions being by Marty Wilde and Craig Douglas. The song is considered one of the greatest songs in rock and roll history.
The song was covered by Bob Marley with The Wailers. In 1965 recorded on the Coxsone label, it was covered by Simon and Garfunkel in their final show as a recording duo at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens, New York.
This song was covered several other times, for example by The Fleetwoods, by Helen Shapiro in 1963, by Connie Stevens and the Mutations on The Muppet Show in 1976, by Less Than Jake on their 2002 album, Goodbye Blue & White, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2002 as a B-Side to the single By The Way and on their 2012 release, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Covers EP, and by The Overtones in their 2013 album Saturday Night at the Movies.

Each time we have a quarrel It almost breaks my heart 'Cause I'm so afraid That we will have to part Each night I ask the stars up above Why must I be a teenager in love? One day I feel so happy Next day I feel so sad I guess I'll learn To take the good with the bad 'Cause each night I ask the stars up above Why must I be a teenager in love? I cried a tear for nobody but you I'll be a lonely one If you should say we're through Well if you want to make me cry That won't be so hard to do If you should say goodbye I'd still go on loving you Each night I ask the stars up above Why must I be a teenager in love? I cried a tear for nobody but you I'll be a lonely one If you should say we're through Well if you want to make me cry That won't be so hard to do And if you should say goodbye I'd...
A wonderful song to grow up to...late fifties classic.
Written by blues rock stalwarts Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, 'A Teenager In Love' found itself in the UK charts three times over in June 1959. The biggest hit belonged to Kim's dad Marty Wilde but Dion DiMucci launched a career off the back of this doo-wop beauty, hitting paydirt with 'Runaround Sue' and 'The Wanderer' and still mooching around today.
