Across the Harlem River, 10 minutes to the north, is the other Park Avenue in South Bronx, where more than half the population needs food stamps and children are 20 times more likely to be killed. In the last 30 years, inequality has rocketed in the US -- the American Dream only applies to those with money to lobby politicians for friendly bills on Capitol Hill.

Without question, the building is an architectural marvel. So tall and so narrow, it needs wind tunnels and 600-ton dampers to counteract swaying.

432 Park Avenue is a supertall residential project by CIM Group in midtown Manhattan in New York City. With a height of 1,398 feet (426.11 m), 125 condominium apartments, it will become the 3rd tallest tower in the United States, with the One World Trade Center being taller, as judged by the height of its pinnacle, although 432 Park Avenue is taller if One World Trade Center is measured by roof height.

Park Avenue (formerly Fourth Avenue) is a 140 feet (43 m) wide boulevard that carries north- and southbound traffic in the New York City borough of Manhattan. For most of its length, it runs parallel to Madison Avenue to the west and Lexington Avenue to the east.
The flowers and greenery in the median of Park Avenue are maintained by the Fund for Park Avenue. Begonias are a flower of choice for the Fund's gardeners because there is no automatic watering system and they can cope with the hot sun.
Each December, Christmas trees are placed in the median in a tradition that started in 1945 as a memorial to soldiers killed in action.
The road that becomes Park Avenue originates as the Bowery. From Cooper Square at 8th Street to Union Square at 14th Street, it is known as Fourth Avenue. Above 14th Street, it turns slightly east of north to align with other avenues of the Commissioners' Plan of 1811. From 14th Street to 17th Street, it forms the eastern boundary of Union Square and is known as Union Square East; its southbound lanes merge with Broadway for this distance. From 17th Street to 32nd Street, it is known as Park Avenue South, and above 32nd Street, for the remainder of its distance, it is known as Park Avenue.

Die alte Gurkenfabrik befindet sich seit drei Generationen in Familienhand. "Die Hausnummer entscheidet über die Zukunftschancen deiner Kinder", sagen hier im Süden der Park Avenue viele. Sie sind es, die ihre Träume längst verwirklicht haben. Und nun, im Zeichen der Wirtschaftskrise, um diese fürchten. Einer von ihnen ist Malcom Elvey. Vor mehr als 30 Jahren zog er von Südafrika nach New York, um sein Glück zu versuchen. Er baute ein Transportunternehmen auf. Heute wohnt er in der Park Avenue, umgeben von Originalbildern von Picasso und Juan Miro. Doch dann lächelt er breit, zeigt seine Zahnlücke und wirkt wie ein kleiner Junge. Obwohl er viele Jahre seines Lebens im Gefängnis verbracht hat, ist er glücklich. Gurken haben sein Leben gerettet.
Kaum aus dem Gefängnis entlassen, meldet sich er, der kein Gangster mehr sein will, an der Pforte von United Pickles auf der Park Avenue. Die alte Gurkenfabrik befindet sich seit drei Generationen in Familienhand. Jeder kennt das massive Backsteingebäude mit den zugemauerten Fenstern, das stets den Geruch von Essig ausdünstet, so dass auch auf der Straße die Augen tränen. Chef Stephen Leibowitz gab José eine Chance. Seitdem ist er jeden Morgen der Erste und abends der Letzte. "Mir hat noch nie jemand das Gefühl gegeben, dass ich etwas Sinnvolles tun kann", sagt José, "bis jetzt, in der Gurkenfabrik." José hat gerade eine Familie gegründet und lebt, wie er selbst sagt, endlich den amerikanischen Traum: Seinen Kindern wird es besser gehen als ihm, da ist er sicher.
Am Horizont, hinter Hochbahn und Brücken, flimmern die Bürotürme Manhattans. Gleiche Straße, andere Welt. 150 Blocks weiter südlich steht das New York, das jeder kennt. Glas, Stahl, Beton. Manhattan wächst immer weiter in die Höhe. Je höher die kalten Fassaden, desto höher die Einkommen. Von unten nach oben - die Architektur entlang der Park Avenue spiegelt die wirtschaftliche Realität.
"Die Hausnummer entscheidet über die Zukunftschancen deiner Kinder", sagen hier im Süden der Park Avenue viele. Sie sind es, die ihre Träume längst verwirklicht haben. Und nun, im Zeichen der Wirtschaftskrise, um diese fürchten. Einer von ihnen ist Malcom Elvey. Vor mehr als 30 Jahren zog er von Südafrika nach New York, um sein Glück zu versuchen. Er baute ein Transportunternehmen auf. Heute wohnt er in der Park Avenue, umgeben von Originalbildern von Picasso und Juan Miro. Er hat den sozialen Aufstieg geschafft, und er ist überzeugt, dass das auch heute noch möglich ist. Allerdings gibt er zu: "Heute müssen die jungen Leute härter dafür arbeiten." I Park Avenue nascono a Novara nel 2006 e cominciano subito la loro esperienza live proponendo i loro pezzi inediti. Si esibiscono nei più importanti locali nazionali e partecipano a numerosi concorsi, vincendo l’Emergenza Rock Festival.
Suonano in Germania al Tahuberthal Open Air Festival, allo Sziget Festival di Budapest e a Praga al Rock For People, proponendo il loro repertorio inedito prima di grandi artisti internazionali tra cui Gogol Bordello, The Killers, Massive Attack, Pink e The Offspring.

The Grand Central Terminal divides Park Avenue and is a huge station with which the railroad kings, the Venderbilts, left an indelible mark. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. The confines of Chinatown are inhabited by a hundred and fifty thousand Chinese from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, most of whom are unable to speak a word of English. Chinese characters wherever one looks and restaurants and Asian stores on every street corner. The famous Wall Street was named after a wall which in the early days protected the growing city against attack by Native American Indians. However, the roots of its subsequent claim to fame were laid in 1792. The young state desperately needed investment and therefore the powers that be decided to issue bonds. Close by, on a small island, is New York’s most famous landmark, the Statue Of Liberty. The head of Lady Liberty leads to the crown from which there are stunning views from several windows. New York City is most certainly unique. A city that’s very much alive and kicking, self-confident and always a surprise!

In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple.

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. You can ride roller coasters, stroll down the boardwalk, enjoy some beach time, and then head over the Nathan's Famous hot dogs. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface. Strawberry Fields is a section of Central Park dedicated to the memory of John Lennon.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Ecuador is one of the most diverse countries in the world though it's comparably tiny. Beside the Galapagos Islands (which is the #1 tourist destination in Ecuador) the country has a lot more to offer, therefore I focussed on "La Sierra" in this video which is a paradise for landscape lovers and outdoor adventurers.
Another reason to visit the Andean region is that you have the chance to dive into the local culture and get a real feeling of Ecuador. The places to see in Ecuador I focussed on in this short video are the result of my own travels along the center from north to south and are easily doable in 2 weeks time.

Hello, and welcome to Paris. This week we are exploring the city of love, city of lights and city of art. This video will be showing you the top 50 things to do while you visit Paris.
So we're wrapping things up here. What would be your one tip for visiting Paris? Well, I have recently spent a whole ten days here in summer. I would say that if you really want to visit the art galleries, the museums and all of the main attractions you should probably avoid summer and like either come in the spring or the fall or even winter. Because the lines are insane and sometimes you have to wait like an hour and a half or two hours just to go inside a museum or go inside a church. And you just kill a lot of time. So that is my one tip. Try and avoid summer when the crowds are just everywhere and it is also a bit too hot in my opinion. But that is just me.
So how about you? What are your final thoughts on Paris? So my finals thoughts is obviously Paris is one of the top cities in the world in terms of attractions. But it is like any other big gritty city. And you have to come with realistic expectations. There is going to be garbage, there is going to be lines, there is going to be some areas that are a bit of an eyesore. But there is also a lot of beauty and there is also a lot to do here. So I highly you recommend coming but just don't have Paris on such a high pedestal that you're going to be disappointed.

Hello, and welcome to Paris. This week we are exploring the city of love, city of lights and city of art. This video will be showing you the top 50 things to do while you visit Paris.
So we're wrapping things up here. What would be your one tip for visiting Paris? Well, I have recently spent a whole ten days here in summer. I would say that if you really want to visit the art galleries, the museums and all of the main attractions you should probably avoid summer and like either come in the spring or the fall or even winter. Because the lines are insane and sometimes you have to wait like an hour and a half or two hours just to go inside a museum or go inside a church. And you just kill a lot of time. So that is my one tip. Try and avoid summer when the crowds are just everywhere and it is also a bit too hot in my opinion. But that is just me.
So how about you? What are your final thoughts on Paris? So my finals thoughts is obviously Paris is one of the top cities in the world in terms of attractions. But it is like any other big gritty city. And you have to come with realistic expectations. There is going to be garbage, there is going to be lines, there is going to be some areas that are a bit of an eyesore. But there is also a lot of beauty and there is also a lot to do here. So I highly you recommend coming but just don't have Paris on such a high pedestal that you're going to be disappointed.

Art lovers will enjoy the Art Institute of Chicago. Taking in a Chicago Cubs baseball game at Wrigley field is a must for anyone who visits the city. You can't come to Chicago and not eat deep-dish pizza! During our week here we ate at many pizzerias in town including Lou Malnati's, Giordano's, Gino's East Side, and Pizzeria Uno. Formerly known as the Sears Tower, Willis Tower is now the 2nd tallest building in the United States. Many of the buildings at the University of Chicago were designed in the Gothic style. The campus is also home to the Oriental Institute. The Osaka Garden is located in Jackson Park
which is in Chicago's South Side. If you visit Wicker Park you'll find it has a very hipster feel, with lots of street art down every alley. Humboldt Park is a little far removed from the downtown area so it's not as popular with visitors, however, it's a really great place to soak in nature. For a chance to come face to face with dinosaurs, head over to the Field Museum. Right next door is the Shedd Aquarium which is a popular attraction for families. Visit the John Hancock Center by night as the city really dazzles from the 94th floor. The Navy Pier is a fun place to visit on a weekend including a Ferris Wheel. Located in the north end of the city, North Avenue Beach is a popular hangout spot with beach-goers. For improv comedy there's no better place than The Second City. The Magnificent Mile is a shopper's paradise. The Chicago L, or the elevated line, is great for getting around town. A week pass is $28. The Divvy is Chicago's bike sharing system. In the park-lined Government Avenue and Queen Victoria Street, there's a wonderful collection of well-restored Victorian houses and the Anglican St. Georges Cathedral is where Archbishop Desmond Tutu protested against Apartheid.
Part of the historic harbor is the Victoria And Alfred Waterfront. In 1860, Prince Alfred ordered construction of a new harbor basin, followed by the Victoria Basin that contained two watchtowers. Today, the whole of the old port is an internationally-styled entertainment and shopping complex. The two large water tanks in the harbor's Two Ocean Aquarium contain around 3,000 examples of sea life from the Indian and Atlantic oceans. In the adjoining South African Maritime Museum, there are examples of the city's historic ships, its fishing industry and details on the construction of its outstanding harbor.
Robben Island is situated 11 km off the coast and in the 16th century, the Dutch used it as a prison. During apartheid, political prisoners were incarcerated there. The prison's most famous inmate, Nelson Mandela, spent 18 years of his 28 year sentence on the island. After the closure of the prison in 1997, the South African government opened both the island and its former prison to the public. Thus the face of Robben Island changed from being a place of terror and suppression to one of pilgrimage, a symbol of resistance and also a major tourist attraction!
The Cape of Good Hope is the southernmost tip of Africa and since 1936, this section of the Cape Peninsula has been a nature reserve.
Cape Town and its environs are completely different to the normal expectations of Africa. No desolate bush land reaching to the horizon and no life-threatening wild animals. But it's certainly another remarkable and beautiful dimension to South Africa's magnificent Garden of Eden!

I shot this video during various walks along Park Avenue. I live nearby, and it's one of my favorite places to visit in the spring. There are hundreds of flower displays in flower boxes on the sidewalks and in the wide media strip that separate northbound from southbound. Art sculptures are often placed in the median also.
North of 60th St., going north and south, Park Avenue is just two blocks from Central Park, one of the prime attractions in NYC. In springtime, Central Park is also a glorious place to go because of the millions of flowers, plants and blooming trees you can see there.

Hong Kong is one of the most dynamic cities in all of Asia. From a travel perspective it offers numerous diverse options worth exploring.
Whether one is exploring Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Victoria Harbor or the New Territories, there are plenty of attractions to cover.
The following is a list of the top things to do in Hong Kong:
1) Avenue of Stars at Night in Kowloon (星光大道)
Wandering around Avenue of Stars at night is the perfect way to experience Hong Kong in the evening. Overlooking Victoria Harbour, this area has been modeled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame championing all of the celebrities involved in the Hong Kong entertainment industry. None is more famous than the Bruce Lee statue. This is also the perfect place to watch A Symphony of Lights laser show which happens daily at 8 pm.
2) Afternoon High Tea at the Peninsula
Sitting down for afternoon tea at the Peninsula is one of the more posh activities in Hong Kong. Expect to wait in line (we waited over 2 hours) for a table. You can get complete sets which include assorted finger food along with a drink. This is definitely not a budget activity.
3) Views of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak and Tram Ride (太平山)
Taking a tram ride up to Victoria Peak to experience the best vantage point of Hong Kong, Kowloon and Victoria Harbor is one of the top attractions in the city. Many come at night; however, we recommend coming in the afternoon on a weekday when you can enjoy having more personal space.
4) Star Ferry boat ride (天星小輪)
There are many different modes of transportation in Hong Kong; however, none are quite as authentic of an experience as taking Star Ferry from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon or vice versa. It's one of the cheapest ways to get around.
5) Junk Boat Ride
Taking a Junk boat ride around Victoria harbor offers some of the best views of the city. It's especially popular at night to take in A Symphony of Lights performance.
6) Hong Kong Park and Tea Appreciation Ceremony (香港公園)
To get away from all of the hustle and bustle check out Hong Kong Park for a tranquil escape. If you have time participate in a Chinese tea appreciation ceremony.
7) Sampan Boat Tour in Aberdeen (舢舨)
Taking a ride on a traditional Sampan boat allows you to experience what life is like for Chinese fishermen.
8) Eating Dim Sum (點心 - 点心)
One should not leave Hong Kong without first trying dim sum. These small sized bites are treats that are accompanied by a pot of Chinese tea.
9) Taking a night bus tour of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon
Taking a night bus tour allows you to visit distinct areas in both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon such as Mong Kok and Causeway Bay.

tretching 32 miles between Garberville and Fortuna, Avenue of the Giants is one of California's best scenic drives. The road, which travels along Higway 101 on Route 254, is named for our state's magnificent coastal California redwoods. They happen to be the tallest trees on earth — some reaching up to 380 feet tall and 26 feet wide.
Avenue of the Giants is one of the best places in the state to view these magnificent towering trees, and its easy to feel dwarfed as you travel down the shaded 2-lane highway.
When you enter the park, pick up a map that highlights the route and its attractions. If you want to make a weekend of it, you can camp at Burlington or Hidden Springs Campgrounds, or enjoy more modern comforts at the Myers Inn B&B;.
Our first stop is at the Immortal Tree, which is 250 tall and more than 950 years old. Inside the gift shop, you can pick up a map of Bigfoot hunting locations. Apparently more than 200 encounters have been reported in these parts, especially during the summer and fall. They say Bigfoot can get as tall as 14 feet, is a good swimmer, and sounds like a mountain lion — if you believe in that sorta thing.
After checking out Founder's Grove in Weott, we head to Myers Flat to squeeze our SUV through the world-famous Shrine Drive-Thru Tree. There are three drive-through trees along the route, and each will set you back about $6.
Kids can explore the two-story tree houses, or get lost in the walk-through stump. Yes, it's touristy — but loads of fun.

Papa Wemba, a musician known around the world as the king of Congolese rumba, has died following a collapse on stage during a concert, officials said. He was 66. Culture Minister Baudouin Banza Mukalay confirmed the musician’s death on Sunday, calling it a “great loss for the country and all of Africa.” ...
