David I. August (born 1970) is a professor of computer science at Princeton University specializing in compilers and computer architecture. August is a strong advocate of alternatives to parallel programming to address the software impact of multi-core computing.
August was born in Troy, New York and raised in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey, graduated summa cum laude in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1993, and received his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000 under advisor Wen-mei Hwu. His thesis, entitled Systematic Compilation for Predicated Execution, represented a breakthrough in compilers. Specifically, it showed how a compiler could generate efficient code for architectures with branch predication, such as Intel's IA-64.
In 1999, August was selected as one of five new Ph.D.'s to watch by the Chronicle of Higher Education. Since then, he has produced dozens of articles relating to compilers and computer architecture. The IEEE Computer Society's annual "Top Picks from Computer Architecture Conferences" has recognized his work on microprocessor fault tolerance and his work on multi-core computation for relevance and significance to the field.
David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.

'Kollektiv Turmstraße is a German musical duo consisting of Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann. Established in 1998 in Hamburg, they released tracks on various compilation albums before producing their own album, Verrückte Welt in 2006. This was followed by Rebellion der Träumer in 2010. The duo's musical style can be broadly labeled as minimal techno.

Diynamic has come up with another idea for a new series of EPs… Under the title Diynamic Revisited, it will see one artist remixing two older tracks from the label’s back catalogue. First up is David August, who has elected to re-envision tracks by Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Stimming. Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s ‘Last Day’ was first released back in 2009 and was a tropical bit of metallic tech house. David August’s revision, though, transforms it into a much deeper, slower burning and spiritual track with heavenly chords and buried deep baselines. When it drops it’s a spine tingling, emotional track that will silence dancefloors for all the right reasons. Stimming’s ‘Der Schmelz’ came on his Change EP in 2010 and was a kinetic and intense bit of synthetic tech house funk. After David August ...

In preparation for his RA Session, David August sourced a voice sample of Alfred Hitchcock and composed some bass sounds. He then took the words of the revered film director as inspiration and built a completely improvised piece—one he's never performed before, and will never perform again. It was only a few years back that August was a DJ with a vague idea that he'd like to just play live. Interview with David August was recorded for Mtvrali Alubali in Barcelona with the help of broadcasting company Rustavi 2.
EB.TV #10 - 06.05.2014 Despite his young age, it's been a while since the days when Hamburg native DAVID AUGUST was still an unknown in the techno/house scene. He was already releasing his first tracks at the ripe age of 17 on Stil vor Talent. In 2010 he became part of Mladen Solomun's Diynamic empire and scored his first big club hit with "Moving Day". The classically trained musician has been on a steady climb internationally ever since. Nowadays residing in Berlin, where he moved to take up sound engineering studies at the University of the Arts, August has recently released an E.P. on INNERVISONS. We took the occasion for EB.TV to meet up with David for an interview in this up-close-and-personal installment of Slices. Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/electronicb...

So I'll never feel your touch again
I'll get used to it
Hearts don't break they just bend
I'll come bouncing back
You barely left a scratch on me
You were nothing
But a little plaything
And your love bite
It was only a sting
Baby when you went
It hardly made a dent in me
It was just a fleshwound in my pride
It ain't no tragedy that I can't survive
I'm lying to myself every night
Without you baby nothing's been right
No matter what I say
Can't make you go away
I'm lyin' to myself that's the truth
It's killing me being without you
You're the only one
Not fooling anyone
I'm lyin' to myself
I won't lie here
Alone in this bed
Broken record of your voice in my head
'Cause nothing that you said
Had any real effect on me
There's not a thing that I would change
No not much only everything
Just to have you again
I'm lyin' to myself every night
Without you baby nothing's been right
No matter what I say
Can't make you go away
I'm lyin' to myself
I can't deny it anymore
Gotta get you back in my life
'Cause that's all I'm living for
And I'm lyin' to myself
You're the only one
Not folling anyone
I been lyin' to myself
No matter what I say
Can't make you go away
