With
Sue Perkins,
Romesh Ranganathan and
Bill Bailey.
Extra notes below!
During the tiger dick aphrodisiacs talk Sue gives more examples like pangolin scales for sale in
China. Fry quotes someone 'if you want to get rid of
ISIS, tell the
Chinese they are an aphrodisiac'.
Milou is the
French name for
Tintin's dog.
During the dangerous 'staches Romesh talks about his beard and how he shampoos it. Fry says he uses nothing in his hair, just water. Invites Romesh to touch his hair and he does!
There was a demo of a monkey trap. It was like a big jar with an apple in it.
Alan was made to demo it and try to remove the apple. You can't remove the apple and your hand but the monkey is unwilling to let the apple go and gets caught.
Fry shows an
Emlen funnel which is used to find out which way a bird migrates.
Cut question - can butterflies remember things from when they were caterpillars? (You can hear Fry start to ask this question at 35:55) Someguy did some weird experiments.
Alan mention
Edwina Curry several times after naming her ugliest bird. When they talk about places named the same thing twice (
Mount Fuiji,
River Avon) Alan says
... Edwina Curry.
Alan made a reference to a kids show(?) and no one got it.
Complete silence.
Immediately after the show
Bill burped very loudly into the mic. Sue drew a cock and balls in the notebook.
Two retakes. Fry was made to say amphibian into the camera several times and Sue saying
Africa for the mosquito question as the siren did not go off.
-------------
Preshow
Fry talked about how QI is the most popular TV ticket requested... except for
Top Gear and how proud he was of this fact. He said people in other countries often mistake him for a TG presenter but are unsure of which one so he becomes
James Clarkson or
Jeremy May.
Fry was filming a documentary in
South America and that's why he was so tanned.
Sue comes out and Fry asks her what she's been doing. She was in
India filming a documentary and spoke to a guy who had just come out of a sewer covered in shit.
Next Romesh was introduced as the guy who made vegan brownies on the
Great British Bake Off reaction program. "
Hey, my mum helped me make those!" The brownies were dry and Fry made a
GBBO soggy bottom reference.
Romesh did a live program during the election. A
Labour coalition was expected and loads of jokes had to be binned when it was clear that wasn't going to happen. Lots of election chat, how the polls were wrong and "shy
Conservatives".
Bill was asked about the election and he could not care less.
Menagerie was the third M episode and recorded on Tuesday 12th May in the afternoon.
PS. There was nothing to suggest Fry was going to leave.
