Do you want to organise your own Devoxx4Kids event? Then attend this session where the Devoxx4Kids organisers from Belgium and Netherlands will share their best practices. In addition you'll also learn which software, hardware and robots work best with teenagers. Authors: Saskia Vermeer-Ooms Saskia Vermeer is a senior software engineer and project leader at Worth IT in The Hague, The Netherlands. She is an enthusiastic software developer with 15 years of technical experience. Her background is in scientific and client-server programming. She has worked for companies like EDS and Deltares where she combined her knowledge of fluid dynamics with software development. For her current company she builds customized web portals using the Liferay Enterpise Portal platform. Saskia is also an active member of JDuchess, a global organization for women in Java technology. One of her goals is to inspire young people with her enthusiasm for technology, so they might also consider a future in IT. Regina ten Bruggencate Regina is a senior Java developer for iProfs and a Java Champion, with 10 plus years of Java experience mainly on enterprise applications. Regina is the current president of JDuchess, and as such has the responsibility for the site and community. Duchess is a global organization for women in Java technology, currently with 350 members in over 50 countries. Duchess provides a platform through which women who work with Java can connect with each other and get involved in the greater Java community. It aims to make women's role and the individual women's contributions visible in the Java community and to teach the benefits of diversity in any team environment - whether corporate or open-source. Audrey Neveu Audrey Neveu is software engineer at GeoKaps, specialised in Lucene-based search engines. Strongly engaged in the community, she has been member of Paris Jug, DevoxxFrance and Duchess France teams. She has also co-founded Programatoo and Devoxx4Kids in France, two initiatives to teach programming to kids. She is a regular speaker at Devoxx France and has also spoken at Devoxx, Devoxx UK, Mix-IT, Soft-Shake, BreizhCamp, TedX Champs-Elysées Women and several user groups. Claude Falguière Claude Falguière est consultante sénior chez Valtech Technology où elle intervient sur des missions d'architecture technique et d'analyse de performance d'applications Java/JEE. Elle est co-fondatrice de Duchess France http://jduchess.org/duchess-france/ et membre de l'équipe du Paris JUG http://parisjug.org. Before starting JPoint, Roy was Java Software Architect at Ordina, working on miscellaneous projects and giving roadshow presentations around the Netherlands. He was also co-author of the book "Software Ontwikkeling in Java EE". He has regularly given trainings during his career, including Spring, Sofware Architecture, Testing and Agile/Lean courses. Currently he is involved with the HaMIS project by the Port of Rotterdam. A very succesful Scrum project, which hasn't just changed the development team, but the whole project management structure underneath resulting in a hyper-productive project. Daniel De Luca Daniel holds a Master in Computer Science from the Free University of Brussels. His first contact with Java was in 1995 where he did feel the need to move completely to a new programming paradigm. Since then, Daniel never left the Java world; using it in various niche markets and research projects he was involved worldwide. His main experiences are on the architecture and developments based on latest enhancements of the JavaEE specifications (he started with EJB 1.0), Web Services, SOA based and Business Processes architectures. His technical skills also include the capacity to understand all underneath technologies used within a complex Java/JavaEE application (network infrastructure, hub, switches, multicasting, firewall, SSL accelerator, load balancing techniques, etc..) that might have an impact on applications but also an impact on customer experiences. Mobile, Spring, Large Scale Web Applications, Continuous Integration, Agile Methodologies and other JVM based languages are also part of his interests and day-to-day activity.
