Iraq vs Islamic State: Fight for Anbar

It's a vital supply route for the militants in Syria, and leads all the way to the outskirts of Baghdad. If it falls, it'll be a major victory for the extremists. But the fight for Anbar has gone largely unreported - mainly due to the dangers journalists face travelling to the region. BBC's Quentin Sommerville & cameraman Tim Facey are the first international broadcasters to have been embedded with the Iraqi Army forces at the Ain Al Asad Airbase. Iraq's biggest province is on the brink of falling under the complete control of the Islamic State and its supporters. Anbar is a vital supply route from the militants' bases in Syria, and leads all the way to the outskirts of Baghdad. At its heart is the Ain al Asad airbase - were Iraqi troops have been fighting, but losing ground. If it falls, it'll be a major victory for IS. Journalists haven't been able to travel there since Islamic State took control, but Quentin Sommerville managed to join an Iraqi army patrol -- and sent this report.
