On a tiny exotic island, Tuesday, an outgoing parrot, lives with his quirky animal friends in paradise. However, Tuesday can’t stop dreaming about discovering the world. After a violent storm, Tuesday and his friends wake up to find a strange creature on the beach: Robinson Crusoe. Tuesday immediately views Crusoe as his ticket off the island to explore new lands. Likewise, Crusoe soon realizes that the key to surviving on the island is through the help of Tuesday and the other animals. It isn’t always easy at first, as the animals don’t speak “human.” Slowly but surely, they all start living together in harmony, until one day, when their comfortable life is overturned by two savage cats, who wish to take control of the island. This first edition credited the work's fictional protagonist Robinson Crusoe as its author, leading many readers to believe he was a real person and the book a travelogue of true incidents. It was published under the considerably longer original title The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un-inhabited Island on the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With An Account how he was at last as strangely deliver'd by Pyrates. Epistolary, confessional, and didactic in form, the book is a fictional autobiography of the title character (whose birth name is Robinson Kreutznaer)—a castaway who spends years on a remote tropical island near Trinidad, encountering cannibals, captives, and mutineers before being rescued.
The story is widely perceived to have been influenced by the life of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway who lived for four years on the Pacific island called "Más a Tierra" (in 1966 its name was changed to Robinson Crusoe Island), Chile. However, other possible sources have been put forward for the text.
Despite its simple narrative style, Robinson Crusoe was well received in the literary world and is often credited as marking the beginning of realistic fiction as a literary genre. Before the end of 1719 the book had already run through four editions, and it has gone on to become one of the most widely published books in history, spawning numerous sequels and adaptations for stage, film, and television. Documentary The story of Selkirk was published in a book written by Woods-Rogers and it is on this account that Daniel Defoe based his novel but blended in more details from other accounts of marooned seamen. The main original contribution of Defoe was Man Friday. The book, which made Defoe rich, has been translated into more languages than any other book except the bible.
This made for TV documentary is very capably produced and relies on realistic re-enactments as well as voice-over and contributions from academics to tell the story. It is made for an intelligent audience so proceeds at a reasonable pace and does not waste time in overlong explanations of the obvious. If you get a chance to see this don't miss it. Incidentally, the island which has since become inhabited, was renamed Robinson Crusoe Island in 1966 and a smaller one in the same group Alejandro Selkirk island.

Here we have the original "Robinson Crusoe" series, the one that always seemed to be on TV during the long school summer holiday's back in the UK, i loved watching this series when i was a kid and still enjoy it to this very day, and here you now have the chance of watching every episode in one go.. I hope you enjoy this old series as it really is a classic...

À l'issue d'une tempête terrible, la petite bande découvre une étrange créature échouée sur la plage : Robinson Crusoé. Mardi est persuadé que le nouveau venu est son passeport pour de nouveaux horizons. Crusoé, lui, comprend qu'il ne pourra survivre sans l'aide précieuse de Mardi et ses amis. Si, au début, la communication n'est pas évidente - les animaux ne parlent pas « l'humain » -, tout le monde apprend à se connaître et finit par s'entendre à merveille. Mais voilà que cette belle harmonie est mise à mal par l'irruption de deux chats sauvages avides de soumettre la population de l'île. Robinson Crusoe is a 1997 film directed by Rod Hardy and George T. Miller and stars Pierce Brosnan playing Robinson Crusoe in this loose adaptation of Daniel Defoe's classic novel.
The film opens to a fictionalized Daniel Defoe being offered to read a castaway's autobiography. He grudgingly obliges and begins to get engrossed in the narrative.
Robinson Crusoe (Pierce Brosnan) is a Scottish gentleman with experience in the Royal Navy and the British army. He accidentally kills his lifelong friend Patrick in a duel over his childhood love Mary. Patrick's brothers arrive and threaten Crusoe, but his page manages to buy time for an escape. Fleeing back to Mary, Crusoe subsequently ends up leaving for a year so that Mary can attempt to smooth over relations with Patrick's family.
Crusoe joins the merchant marine transporting assorted cargoes between ports in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans. He chronicles the ship's journeys at the behest of the captain until a typhoon shipwrecks him near the coast of New Guinea.

Plot: Is the year 3089 and technology has exceeded all expectations. Space travel is now common place and humans have met a race of aliens who call themselves Karomingiens. Plot: Robinson Crusoe flees Britain on a ship after killing his friend over the love of Mary. A fierce ocean storm wrecks his ship and leaves him stranded by himself on an uncharted island. Left to fend for himself, Crusoe seeks out a tentative survival on the island, until he meets Friday, a tribesman whom he saves from being sacrificed. Initially, Crusoe is thrilled to finally have a friend, but he has to defend himself against the tribe who uses the island to sacrifice tribesman to their gods. Coincé sur une île exotique miniature avec des amis tout aussi excentriques que lui, le perroquet Mardi n'a qu'un seul rêve : partir à la découverte du monde. À l'issue d'une tempête terrible, la petite bande découvre une étrange créature échouée sur la plage : Robinson Crusoé. Mardi est persuadé que le nouveau venu est son passeport pour de nouveaux horizons. Crusoé, lui, comprend qu'il ne pourra survivre sans l'aide précieuse de Mardi et ses amis. Si, au début, la communication n'est pas évidente - les animaux ne parlent pas « l'humain » -, tout le monde apprend à se connaître et finit par s'entendre à merveille. Mais voilà que cette belle harmonie est mise à mal par l'irruption de deux chats sauvages avides de soumettre la population de l'île. La bataille qui s'ensuit va permettre à Crusoé et ses amis de découvrir les vertus de l'amitié envers et contre tout (surtout les chats)

After a violent storm, Tuesday and his friends wake up to find a strange creature on the beach: Robinson Crusoe. Tuesday immediately views Crusoe as his ticket off the island to explore new lands. Likewise, Crusoe soon realizes that the key to surviving on the island is through the help of Tuesday and the other animals. It isn’t always easy at first, as the animals don’t speak “human.” Slowly but surely, they all start living together in harmony, until one day, when their comfortable life is overturned by two savage cats, who wish to take control of the island. A battle ensues between the cats and the group of friends but Crusoe and the animals soon discover the true power of friendship up against all odds (even savage cats).
