Three top chefs from China, France and Malaysia went around Ancient Silk Road for a month. They had been enjoying and cooking various food that came from this ancient and mystical land, mixing the landscape of Western Region and particular types of food together to let more people feel the abundant food culture along the Silk Road. Food On The Silk Road has different themes: in the dishes theme, it introduced the origin and cooking techniques of Chinese palace cuisine, business cuisine, popular cuisine and Islamic cuisine; the reason why Muslims don`t eat pork, the way they slaughter animals, the worship system etc.; and in the products theme, you can see pomegranate, grape, fig, alfalfa, sesame, walnut, watermelon gathered in Silk Road.

Hotan (Uyghur: خوتەن, ULY: Xoten, UPNY: Hotǝn?), or Hetian (Chinese: 和田; pinyin: Hétián, formerly: simplified Chinese: 和阗; traditional Chinese: 和闐; pinyin: Hétián), also often written Khotan, is the seat of the Hotan Prefecture in Xinjiang, China. It was previously known in Chinese as 于窴/於窴 (pinyin: Yú tián) and to 19th-century European explorers as Ilchi.
With a population of 114,000 (2006), Hotan is an oasis town lying in the Tarim Basin, just north of the Kunlun Mountains, which are crossed by the Sanju Pass, and the Hindu-tagh, and Ilchi passes. The town, located southeast of Yarkand and populated almost exclusively by Uyghurs, is a minor agricultural center. An important station on the southern branch of the historic Silk Road, Hotan has always depended on two strong rivers - the Karakash River and the Yurungkash River, the Black and White Jade rivers respectively - to provide the water needed to survive on the southwestern edge of the vast Taklamakan Desert. The Yurungkash still provides water and irrigation for the town and oasis.

Fernanda Romero is a Mexican actress,model and singer.
Fernanda Romero (real name, Maria Fernanda Romero Martinez) was born in 1981 in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. She began her singing career when she joined BMG's recording ensemble group, Frizzby, who began touring Central America to promote their two top ten singles. They performed for Pope John Paul II at the famous Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
By the time Romero reached eighteen she was in ad campaigns for brands like Rock and Republic, Clean & Clear, Pepsi, Apple, and J.C. Penney. She also appeared in magazines such as GQ Mexico, OK Magazine Espanol, Reforma Magazine and ELLE Mexico Magazine.
She has also starred in several movies and TV shows alongside the likes of Eva Longoria[unreliable source?] and Jessica Alba.[unreliable source?]

Food On The Silk Road has different themes: in the dishes theme, it introduced the origin and cooking techniques of Chinese palace cuisine, business cuisine, popular cuisine and Islamic cuisine; the reason why Muslims don`t eat pork, the way they slaughter animals, the worship system etc.; and in the products theme, you can see pomegranate, grape, fig, alfalfa, sesame, walnut, watermelon gathered in Silk Road.

The process of making paper from the bark of mulberry trees is both complex and fascinating. Generations of Uyghur families in and around the Khotan area have passed down the tradition that makes use of the region’s plentiful mulberry trees as well as the dry heat.
I learned that paper-making using the bark of mulberry trees involves an 8-step process that takes a couple of days and at least 4 people to complete.
1) Gathering & Peeling: branches from mulberry trees are gathered and the bark is then peeled off, a painstaking task that is done by hand.
2) Air drying: the bark that has been peeled away is then dried in the hot, desert sun for 24 hours.
3) Boiling the Bark: once the bark has been dried, it is boiled in a large iron pan over an open fire – usually one that is fed with what is left of the mulberry branches.
4) Pounding the Mixture: the soupy mixture that is the result of boiling the bark is then pounded into submission by a wooden mallet.
5) Ferment the Mixture: after being pounded to death, this clumpy-looking bark soup is left in water to ferment. This word “ferment” is a direct translation of what I was told, but I’m not 100% sure that it means the same thing.
6) Filter Mixture into a Mold: what has now become a weird “goo” is then pressed into a mold that is basically a square wire mesh. The artisan carefully spreads the mixture out and presses it down into the mesh, removing any large clumps along the way.
7) Drying in the Sun: The wire mesh is placed outside where it will dry in the sun. During most of Khotan’s summer, this drying process doesn’t take long.
8) Peel and Prepare for Sale: Once dried, the paper is peeled from the wire mesh and prepared for sale.

Contemporary Ladakh borders Tibet to the east, the Lahaul and Spiti regions to the south, the Vale of Kashmir, Jammu and Baltiyul regions to the west, and the southwest corner of Xinjiang across the Karakoram Pass in the far north. Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and culture. Aksai Chin is one of the disputed border areas between China and India.[6] It is administered by China as part of Hotan County but is also claimed by India as a part of the Ladakh region of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In 1962 China and India fought a brief war over Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh, but in 1993 and 1996 the two countries signed agreements to respect the Line of Actual Control.[7]
In the past Ladakh gained importance from its strategic location at the crossroads of important trade routes,[8] but since the Chinese authorities closed the borders with Tibet and Central Asia in the 1960s, international trade has dwindled except for tourism. Since 1974, the Government of India has successfully encouraged tourism in Ladakh. Since Ladakh is a part of strategically important Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian military maintains a strong presence in the region.

Located two hours southeast of the Xinjiang capital of Urumqi, the city of Turpan offers a beautiful view of the Uyghur culture, one of the reasons it's become such a popular place to visit.
The Uyghur people make up approximately 70% of the population and their history in the region goes back thousands of years.
Turpan used to be a stop along the ancient Silk Road and many of the best places to visit in the city, including the Jiaohe Ruins (交河故城) and Gaochang Ancient City (高昌故城), allow visitors to walk among historical remnants that date back as early as 100 B.C.
In addition to ancient cities, Turpan is also home to the Bezeklik Caves (柏孜克里克), once a treasure trove of Buddhist art, the Karez (坎儿井), a Uyghur irrigation system that is an engineering marvel, the Emin Minaret (苏公塔), the Flaming Mountains (火焰山), Grape Valley (葡萄沟) and much, much more.
But enough with the tourist stuff. In my opinion, what really makes Turpan awesome is the small town atmosphere that lets you experience Uyghur culture outside the confines of a big city.
The market, the street food and especially the night life are probably as memorable, if not more so, than the sites you see during the day.
Turpan is a city you won't forget and one that you won't regret visiting.
