A plasma globe or plasma lamp (also called plasma ball, dome, sphere, tube or orb, depending on shape) is (usually) a clear glass sphere filled with a mixture of various noble gases with a high-voltage electrode in the center of the sphere.
Plasma filaments extend from the inner electrode to the outer glass insulator, giving the appearance of multiple constant beams of colored light (see corona discharge and electric glow discharge). Plasma globes were most popular as novelty items in the 1980s.
The plasma lamp was invented by Nikola Tesla after his experimentation with high-frequency currents in an evacuated glass tube for the purpose of studying high voltage phenomena, but the modern versions were known to be first designed by Bill Parker. Tesla called this invention an inert gas discharge tube.
Plasma or plasm may refer to:
A ball is a round, usually spherical but sometimes ovoid, object with various uses. It is used in ball games, where the play of the game follows the state of the ball as it is hit, kicked or thrown by players. In the context of sports, "ball" need not refer to a spherical object, as is the case in American football. Balls can also be used for simpler activities, such as catch, marbles and juggling. Balls made from hard-wearing materials are used in engineering applications to provide very low friction bearings, known as ball bearings. Black-powder weapons use stone and metal balls as projectiles.
Although many types of balls are today made from rubber, this form was unknown outside the Americas until after the voyages of Columbus. The Spanish were the first Europeans to see bouncing rubber balls (albeit solid and not inflated) which were employed most notably in the Mesoamerican ballgame. Balls used in various sports in other parts of the world prior to Columbus were made from other materials such as animal bladders or skins, stuffed with various materials.

This episode is about how to make a plasma ball at home =) I will get a piece of plasma, using a high-voltage transformer (MOT transformer from microwave oven) and handmade vacuum pump. Plasma is an ionized gas, and all project is about making a big high voltage plasma arc between two electrodes in low-pressure environment. ✔How to get high-voltage transformer: https://youtu.be/ZqDvnWR9WqI ✔How to make vacuum pump: https://youtu.be/qFzzN3oUUHE --------------------------------------------- Patreon: https://goo.gl/ksXs2x Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AlexGyver12

Remake of my old Plasma Ball effect. Tools: 3ds max - Krakatoa - Particle Flow Composed in Adobe After Effects Music: Kevin MacLeod
After watching Pauliizios great plasma ball (https://vimeo.com/21972829), I wanted to create something similar, but a little bit less smoky and more stylized. Tech facts: • 3ds max + pflow + krakatoa + after effects • 10million particles for 1000 frames cached in 140 GB .prt files (4 partitions) • audio synced in after effects Music: The Informers (OST)
A plasma ball flies towards the center of the frame along a helix trajectory and explodes. The footage is available in any resolution, with alpha channel and stereo-3D on request.
heres a plasma ball tutorial i've done... the original tutorial was a written tutorial posted awhile back some where on the net...
