Primary school

A primary school or elementary school is a school in which children receive primary or elementary education from the ages of about five to eleven, coming before secondary school and after preschool. It is the first stage of compulsory education in most parts of the world, and is normally available without charge, but may be offered in a fee-paying independent school. The term grade school is sometimes used in the US though this term may refer to both primary education and secondary education.

The term primary school is derived from the French école primaire, which was first used in 1802.

In the United States, "primary school" may refer to a school with grades Kindergarten through second grade (K-2). In these municipalities, the "elementary school" includes grade three through five. The terms first school or infant school may also be used in North America though these, strictly speaking, refer to different educational programs.

Oxley Park, New South Wales

Oxley Park is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 43  kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Penrith and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region.

History

Oxley Park was named after explorer John Oxley (1784-1828) was granted 600 acres (2.4 km²) in this area in 1823. The grant extended from Queen Street St Marys east to Ropes Creek and from the Great Western Highway to the railway line.

Land use

Oxley Park is a residential suburb. It is one of the older suburbs around St Marys, with older homes on large blocks of land. Its boundary includes Ropes Creek, the Great Western Highway, Sydney Street and the Main Western railway line.

Oxley Park features sporting fields, St Mary's Cemetery (the second-largest cemetery in the City of Penrith) and Oxley Park Primary School. There are no designated industrial areas in the suburb.

Creative Partnerships

Creative Partnerships was the UK government's flagship creative learning programme, established in 2002 as part of the Council's SR2000 settlement to develop young people's creativity through artists' engagement with schools in nominated areas across England. Following the 2010 election of the coalition government, funding was cut by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England in 2011, with activity in schools ending in summer 2011.

Aim

It aimed to build sustainable learning partnerships between schools, creative and cultural organisations and individuals.

Methods

Creative Partnerships facilitated many long-term links between schools and creative professionals, such as artists, architects, scientists and multimedia developers. Research reports covering many different aspects of the programme, conducted by researchers from a number of universities and consultancies, are available online. Magic Hat Brewing Company

Magic Hat Brewing Company is a brewery in South Burlington, Vermont. It began production in 1994, and is currently owned by Costa Rican company Florida Ice & Farm Co. It brews four year-round beers and several seasonal products and one-off batches.

History

Magic Hat Brewing Company was formed in 1994 in Burlington, Vermont. It moved to its current South Burlington location in 1997. By 2005 it had 64 employees. In 2008 the company purchased Pyramid Breweries, makers of the Pyramid and MacTarnahan's brands, expanding to 129 employees. In 2010 Magic Hat (including Pyramid) was acquired by North American Breweries of Rochester, New York. In December 2012, the parent company was purchased by Cerveceria Costa Rica, a unit of the Costa Rican company Florida Ice & Farm Co.

Brands

Magic Hat brews four year-round beers: #9 "Not Quite Pale Ale", Dream Machine, Circus Boy and Single Chair. It also produces up to four seasonal beers, seasonal variety packs and several limited release products.
