The harpsichord used for this recording is a single-manual instrument. undated by the Irish maker Robert Woffington. who worked in Dublin from about 1773 to 1813. The organ music was recorded at St. Mary's Church. Rotherhithe. London. by kind permission of the Rector. the Rev. D. TasselI. The organ dates from 1764 and was built by John Byfield the younger.lt was restored by Noel Mander in 1959.

The third suite opens with a prelude in the stile brisé of the French lutenists. The final double trill seems to be taken from a passage in
Froberger's third toccata : although no Froberger was in print until 1693, numerous copies of his music circulated, and he himself is known to have visited London. The Jig. like the Rant in the Fourth Suite. is a typical theatre tune, though no connection with any of Locke's dramatic music has been found .

before the main theme is announced .No. 4 is a splendid tour de force: after a stately opening. in which trilis and prepared discords build up tension the faster 'second subject' finally dissolves into cascades of demi-semiquavers. The Double Organ voluntary contrasts soft flutes on the 'Chair' organ with the more brilliant diapason chorus of the ·Great' .

The numbers in brackets refer to the two volumes of Locke's keyboard music published by Stainer and Bell and edited by Thurston Dart. The organ voluntaries follow the original order in Melothesia.

Robert Horwell
Robert 'Bob' Horwell is a British actor who was born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. His father, whom he was named after, was a coal merchant and Audrey, his mother, was also a successful small businesswoman. His sisters Angela and Sue run a small designer clothing outlet in his hometown. He is best known for having played the role of Nick Neeson in the British soap opera Coronation Street.
He has also appeared in shows such as The Bill, Holby City, Doctors, Heartbeat, A Touch of Frost.
Robert also played Alex's Dad in the feature The Lost Choices, released by Metrodome Distribution in September 2015.

Colin Tilney
Colin Tilney (born 31 October 1933) is a harpsichordist, fortepianist and teacher.
Education and professional life
Born in London, Tilney studied music and modern languages at Cambridge University, studied harpsichord with Mary Potts at Kings College, Cambridge, and became a student of Gustav Leonhardt. After graduation at Cambridge he spent several years as an opera coach and piano accompanist at Sadler's Wells Theatre and the New Opera Company, following which he focused his energies on teaching and performing on early keyboard instruments. In 1964 he was the harpsichordist under the direction of Igor Stravinski for the original Columbia recording of The Rake's Progress.
Life and work in Canada
In 1979 Tilney moved to Canada and settled in Toronto, where he continued to teach privately and at the Royal Conservatory of Music. He performed with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and the Toronto Consort, as well as touring to Asia, Australia, Europe and Great Britain. In 1985 he formed the chamber ensemble Les Coucous Bénévoles, which regularly commissions new music by Canadian composers. He taught for several seasons at the Dartington Summer Festival in Totnes, England. He has been recorded for radio broadcast by the BBC and CBC, which has issued CDs of his performances. In 2002 Tilney moved to Victoria, British Columbia, where he continues to teach and perform.

The harpsichord used for this recording is a single-manual instrument. undated by the Irish maker Robert Woffington. who worked in Dublin from about 1773 to 1813. The organ music was recorded at St. Mary's Church. Rotherhithe. London. by kind permission of the Rector. the Rev. D. TasselI. The organ dates from 1764 and was built by John Byfield the younger.lt was restored by Noel Mander in 1959.

Froberger's third toccata : although no Froberger was in print until 1693, numerous copies of his music circulated, and he himself is known to have visited London. The Jig. like the Rant in the Fourth Suite. is a typical theatre tune, though no connection with any of Locke's dramatic music has been found .

The harpsichord used for this recording is a single-manual instrument. undated by the Irish maker Robert Woffington. who worked in Dublin from about 1773 to 1813. The organ music was recorded at St. Mary's Church. Rotherhithe. London. by kind permission of the Rector. the Rev. D. TasselI. The organ dates from 1764 and was built by John Byfield the younger.lt was restored by Noel Mander in 1959.

The third suite opens with a prelude in the stile brisé of the French lutenists. The final double trill seems to be taken from a passage in

The Jig. like the Rant in the Fourth Suite. is a typical theatre tune, though no connection with any of Locke's dramatic music has been found .

The harpsichord used for this recording is a single-manual instrument. undated by the Irish maker Robert Woffington. who worked in Dublin from about 1773 to 1813. The organ music was recorded at St. Mary's Church. Rotherhithe. London. by kind permission of the Rector. the Rev. D. TasselI. The organ dates from 1764 and was built by John Byfield the younger.lt was restored by Noel Mander in 1959.

The third suite opens with a prelude in the stile brisé of the French lutenists. The final double trill seems to be taken from a passage in
Froberger's third toccata : although no Froberger was in print until 1693, numerous copies of his music circulated, and he himself is known to have visited London. The Jig. like the Rant in the Fourth Suite. is a typical theatre tune, though no connection with any of Locke's dramatic music has been found .

The other characters think, correctly, that Laurey (Joan Roberts) and Curly (Alfred Drake) are in love. In this song they warn each other not to behave indiscreetly, lest people misinterpret their intentions. Neither wants to admit to the other - or themselves - his or her true feelings.
