Louis Knox Barlow (born July 17, 1966) is an American alternative rock musician and songwriter. A founding member of the groups Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion, Barlow is credited with helping to pioneer the lo-fi style of rock music in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His first band, in Amherst, Massachusetts, was Deep Wound. Barlow was born in Dayton, Ohio and was raised in Jackson, Michigan and Westfield, Massachusetts.
Barlow announced his first solo album since 2009, entitled "Brace The Wave," via Pitchfork. The 9-track album was released by Joyful Noise Recordings on September 4, 2015.
Barlow attended high school in Westfield, Massachusetts, where he met Scott Helland. The two formed the Massachusetts-based hardcore punk band Deep Wound. J Mascis joined the band after answering their ad for a "drummer wanted to play really fast". After becoming disillusioned with the constraints of hardcore, Deep Wound broke up in 1984. Mascis and Barlow reunited to form Dinosaur (later Dinosaur Jr.) later that year. Throughout its early existence, however, Mascis and Barlow had frequent personality conflicts and after the release of their third album Bug in 1988 and the initial supporting tour, Barlow was kicked out of the band.
Dinosaur Jr. is an American rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1984, originally simply called Dinosaur until legal issues forced a change in name.
The band was founded by J Mascis (guitar, vocals, primary songwriter), Lou Barlow (bass, vocals), and Murph (drums). After three albums on independent labels earned the band a reputation as one of the formative influences on American alternative rock, creative tension led to Mascis firing Barlow, who later formed Sebadoh and Folk Implosion. His replacement, Mike Johnson came aboard for three major-label albums. Murph eventually quit, with Mascis taking over drum duties on the band's albums before the group disbanded in 1997. The original lineup reformed in 2005, releasing three albums thereafter.
Mascis's drawling vocals and distinct guitar sound, hearkening back to 1960s and '70s classic rock and characterized by extensive use of feedback and distortion, were highly influential in the alternative rock movement of the 1990s.
Adam Harding (born January 3, 1993) is a Welsh professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League.

Welcome to the West Think (let tomorrow bee) We were all probably holding our collective breath while Lou Barlow gently stroked this heart-aching ballad from Sebadoh’s 1993 album, Bubble and Scrape. He sat there almost dubiously during the Pink Mountaintops recording, no doubt scouring 20 years of material to throw our way – and I don’t think Stephen McBean’s strings had fully stopped shaking before he handed off the guitar with a request. Barlow is the bassist for Dinosaur Jr. but launched Sebadoh after the band cut him loose in the late 80s. He became widely known in knowing circles as a pioneering force behind the American lo-fi/grunge movement of the early 90s that also introduced bands like Pavement. On October 5th, Domino will release Lou Barlows new album, Goodnight Unknown. In the four years since his career-redefining, mostly acoustic record Emoh, Lou Barlow has reunited with Dinosaur Jr. and reissued three of Sebadohs classic albums. But as the brilliant new Goodnight Unknown illustrates, hes hardly living in the past. Borrowing the live-band energy of Dinosaur Jr. and the stylistic reach of Sebadoh, Barlow has built on Emohs full production and written a set of immediate, melodic pop songs that Lou describes as, a cross between my later work with Folk Implosion and my earlier work with Sebadohto my ears, anyway. i'm thinking of the things that i avoid
asking questions of tomorrow
betting on the tears that all must fall
tears of happiness and sorrow
the older i get i get older
i hope i know i'm getting stronger
can only be what it will be
some days are short
others longer
if you want good love
don't force it to react
hand behind your back
i'm thinking of the pain i can't recall
the weight i carry not the world at all
i'm still amazed we're here today
i'm down the open mouth of wonder
if you want good love
start by stepping back
let your heart react, back home
