Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER flight experience on a night flight from Kuala Lumpur to Mumbai and a preview of the Plaza Premium Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The day started with a comfortable ride on the KLIA Ekspres train to KLIA. There, I was astounded by KLIA's dramatic ceiling architecture. After using the self check-in kiosk to check-in and dropping off my luggage, I went to explore the airside.
A while later, I wanted somewhere to rest and decided to go to a pay-in lounge to chill and relax. I managed to get some rest whilst enjoying the tarmac views until my flight's boarding.
MH194 turned out to be a pretty full flight (at least in Economy Class) though I was happy to have a vacant seat next to me (got lucky!). Dinner was served shortly after take-off and the chicken main course I had, inspired by the culinary style of our destination, was delicious! I had one glass of whisky-on-the-rocks, which knocked me out until landing.
The cabin crew were jovial and eagerly cracked jokes with the passengers. They made the journey to Mumbai very pleasant.
At Mumbai, I was surprised Malaysia Airlines had made arrangements for a ground staff to assist and escort me to the transfer desk so that I would have a smooth flight connection in Mumbai. Thank you for caring for your passengers!
I had a very lovely experience with Malaysia Airlines.

Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 flight experience from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Istanbul (IST).
It was a red-eye flight departing Kuala Lumpur at 12.48am. It was not a full flight, so I could stretch across my row to sleep later during the flight. Meals served were generous and had exceptional taste and with a Malaysian flavour. Cabin crew onboard were very professional and service was excellent. Though the entertainment system was rather ancient, and the screen was smallish, I nevertheless could enjoy my movies.
After 10 hours and 49 minutes, we landed in Istanbul at 5.37am after an excellent flight with Malaysian hospitality.

This is a flight report of Malaysia Airlines flight MH19 from Amsterdam (AMS) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL), operated by a Boeing 777-200ER. I was in Economy Class seat 11A.

Malaysia Airlines domestic flight from Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Eastern Malaysia to Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur on a new Boeing 737-800.
This flight was pretty uneventful but was still enjoyable.
Flying time was 2 hrs and 25 min with Scheduled departure being 08:45 am and arrival being 11:10 am. However, we departed and arrived early thankfully. It should be noted that this flight has since then been withdrawn and no longer exists at the present moment. My seat for this flight was 22A on the right side.
The aircraft for this flight was a new B737-800, 9M-MXN.
Overall, there were some things great and some things not so much on this flight. But, not so bad as to prevent me from flying them again, which I did, in May 2015.

A periodic flight review is mandated for pilots by the aviation authorities of many countries. The review takes different forms in different countries.
For holders of pilot certificates issued by the United States Federal Aviation Administration a flight review (previously the FAA referred to this as a biennial flight review, usually abbreviated BFR) is a review required of every active holder of a U.S. pilot certificate at least every 24 calendar months. The flight review consists of at least 1 hour of ground instruction and 1 hour in-flight with a qualified flight instructor.
FAR 61.56 specifies that the review must include: (1) A review of the current general operating and flight rules of FAR 91; and (2) A review of those maneuvers and procedures that, at the discretion of the person giving the review, are necessary for the pilot to demonstrate the safe exercise of the privileges of the pilot certificate.
Before being able to act as pilot in command (PIC) a pilot must have completed a flight review within the previous 24 calendar months. The FAA and instructors are quick to point out that it is not a test. There is no pass or fail criteria, although the instructor giving it can decline to endorse your log-book that a flight review has been completed.

I requested to have the whole row for myself and granted effortlessly by the kind check-in agent. The aircraft arrived on time and the boarding process was very efficient and fast. It just happened to be a very light load that day with less than 40% occupancy. I requested for Seafood Meal during online booking, and the food turned out to be quite tasty. However, the portion was rather small and looked very minimalist. The downside was the cheap plastic cutlery and glassware. It does not show that Malaysia Airlines is a 5 star airline! The cabin crew service was adequate but nothing commendable. They seemed very laid back and disappear from the cabin after the lunch service is done. They are not the glorious "best cabin crew" in the world as they used to be. Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER flight experience on a night flight from Kuala Lumpur to Mumbai and a preview of the Plaza Premium Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The day started with a comfortable ride on the KLIA Ekspres train to KLIA. There, I was astounded by KLIA's dramatic ceiling architecture. After using the self check-in kiosk to check-in and dropping off my luggage, I went to explore the airside. A while later, I wanted somewhere to rest and decided to go to a pay-in lounge to chill and relax. I managed to get some rest whilst enjoying the tarmac views until my flight's boarding. Malaysia Airlines B777-200 Flight Review: MH30 Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul
Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 flight experience from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Istanbul (IST). It was a red-eye flight departing Kuala Lumpur at 12.48am. It was not a full flight, so I could stretch across my row to sleep later during the flight. Meals served were generous and had exceptional taste and with a Malaysian flavour. Cabin crew onboard were very professional and service was excellent. Though the entertainment system was rather ancient, and the screen was smallish, I nevertheless could enjoy my movies. After 10 hours and 49 minutes, we landed in Istanbul at 5.37am after an excellent flight with Malaysian hospitality. Thank you for watching FlightTravels. Malaysia Airlines MH2619 : Flying from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia Airlines domestic flight from Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Eastern Malaysia to Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur on a new Boeing 737-800. This flight was pretty uneventful but was still enjoyable. Flying time was 2 hrs and 25 min with Scheduled departure being 08:45 am and arrival being 11:10 am. However, we departed and arrived early thankfully. It should be noted that this flight has since then been withdrawn and no longer exists at the present moment. My seat for this flight was 22A on the right side. The aircraft for this flight was a new B737-800, 9M-MXN. Overall, there were some things great and some things not so much on this flight. Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER flight experience on a night flight from Kuala Lumpur to Mumbai and a preview of the Plaza Premium Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The day started with a comfortable ride on the KLIA Ekspres train to KLIA. There, I was astounded by KLIA's dramatic ceiling architecture. After using the self check-in kiosk to check-in and dropping off my luggage, I went to explore the airside.
A while later, I wanted somewhere to rest and decided to go to a pay-in lounge to chill and relax. I managed to get some rest whilst enjoying the tarmac views until my flight's boarding.
MH194 turned out to be a pretty full flight (at least in Economy Class) though I was happy to have a vacant seat next to me (got lucky!). Dinner was served shortly after take-off and the chicken main course I had, inspired by the culinary style of our destination, was delicious! I had one glass of whisky-on-the-rocks, which knocked me out until landing.
The cabin crew were jovial and eagerly cracked jokes with the passengers. They made the journey to Mumbai very pleasant.
At Mumbai, I was surprised Malaysia Airlines had made arrangements for a ground staff to assist and escort me to the transfer desk so that I would have a smooth flight connection in Mumbai. Thank you for caring for your passengers!
I had a very lovely experience with Malaysia Airlines.

It was a red-eye flight departing Kuala Lumpur at 12.48am. It was not a full flight, so I could stretch across my row to sleep later during the flight. Meals served were generous and had exceptional taste and with a Malaysian flavour. Cabin crew onboard were very professional and service was excellent. Though the entertainment system was rather ancient, and the screen was smallish, I nevertheless could enjoy my movies.
After 10 hours and 49 minutes, we landed in Istanbul at 5.37am after an excellent flight with Malaysian hospitality.

This flight was pretty uneventful but was still enjoyable.
Flying time was 2 hrs and 25 min with Scheduled departure being 08:45 am and arrival being 11:10 am. However, we departed and arrived early thankfully. It should be noted that this flight has since then been withdrawn and no longer exists at the present moment. My seat for this flight was 22A on the right side.
The aircraft for this flight was a new B737-800, 9M-MXN.
Overall, there were some things great and some things not so much on this flight. But, not so bad as to prevent me from flying them again, which I did, in May 2015.

The check in experience with Malaysia Airlines was very nice. I requested to have the whole row for myself and granted effortlessly by the kind check-in agent.
The aircraft arrived on time and the boarding process was very efficient and fast. It just happened to be a very light load that day with less than 40% occupancy.
I requested for Seafood Meal during online booking, and the food turned out to be quite tasty. However, the portion was rather small and looked very minimalist.
The downside was the cheap plastic cutlery and glassware. It does not show that Malaysia Airlines is a 5 star airline! The cabin crew service was adequate but nothing commendable. They seemed very laid back and disappear from the cabin after the lunch service is done. They are not the glorious "best cabin crew" in the world as they used to be.
Overall, The flight with Malaysia Airlines was still enjoyable despite the downsides that i experienced.

The check in experience was seamless as the passengers are requested to use mobile check-in,web check-in or check-in kiosk before proceeding to baggage drop counter.
The aircraft arrived on time and the boarding process was very efficient and fast. The flight was not full with around 70 percent occupancy.
I requested for Seafood Meal during online booking and it turned out horrible! That was the first time i did not finish my meal on board. The Seafood meal request was no different with the regular choice as they have the tuna sandwich on offer too that day.
The downside was the cheap plastic cutlery and glassware.The cabin crew service was adequate but lacking of warmth of which true service quality should have.
The most defective moment when the cabin crew forgot my order although two cabin crew members had confirmed my seafood meal request before take off! I had to ask them for my meal after all the passengers have been served. Thus, i was served last. No immediate apologies given either!
Overall, The flight with Malaysia Airlines was terrible experience despite the good deal i got. Malaysia Airlines should really pay attention of their product and service quality in order to not losing many more customers in the future.

Langkawai, Malaysia Travel Guide, World's Steepest Cable Car, Beautiful Beaches, and Motorbiking
We have always heard that Langkawi, Malaysia, is a beautiful island that you must see. So we decided we had to check it out for ourselves. The first night we landed it was raining and dreary, but the next two days were stellar. The beaches are far cleaner than those of Thailand, and the water is a beautiful aqua color. We rented a motorbike for a day which was ridiculously easy to rent. We were in and out of the shop in less that 5 minutes, and the cost was 30 Ringgit or about $9USD. We drove the entire island which was beautiful. Renting a motorbike allowed us to get to the Jetty, The Worlds Steepest Cable Car as well as an Arabian Horse Stud Farm. In this travel video travel guide to Malaysia, I travel to Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, and to Terangganu, the country's second-largest city.
I start off my trip by exploring Kenyir Lake, located just west of Terangganu, which is actually the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia (it's the size of Singapore). I head to the far end of the lake by speedboat to go trekking into the hilly jungle where I come across a school of hungry fish waiting for eager tourists like myself to provide them with a cheap snack. I then head back on the lake to explore the many islands that call this lake home.
Next, I head back onto the water -- this time onto the ocean -- to do a little squid jigging as part of the first annual Terengganu International Squid Jigging Fest. Squid jigging, for those of you that don't know, is the act of fishing for squid by hand with a line and hook, something I have questionable skill doing.
Back onto dry land, I explore the market in Terangganu, one of the best places to find fresh seafood in the entire country, and try some of the region's favorite desserts and iced coffee.
For the second half of the video, I head east to the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, where I -- what else? -- find some street food in the famous Chow Kit neighborhood, followed by a little more food in Kampung Baru, a sleeping Malay enclave flanked by the city's downtown tower.
I then take the monorail (!) to explore the Petronas Towers and the KL Tower, two of the city's most famous landmarks, followed by dinner in Jalan Alor, the city's famed outdoor street food district.
Finally, it's time for a little rest and relaxation back on the west coast of Malaysia at the island of Redang, one of the country's most beautiful tropical islands, where I get to experience what beach life is like in Malaysia.

I'm Mark Wiens and thank you very much for watching this video about a few of the top things to do in Kuala Lumpur, a city that just happens to be one of my favorite cities to visit in Southeast Asia. It's the largest and probably the most important and influential city in Malaysia and truly has some amazing sites to offer. Along with modern skyrise towers like the Petronas Towers, there are still lots of traditional historic buildings as well. The awesome mixture of cultures, the mix of traditional and modern, and very importantly, the outstanding cuisine is what makes Kuala Lumpur such a great city to explore!
1. On this list of top things to do in Kuala Lumpur I first stop by the most famous landmark of the the city: the Petronas Towers. These twin giant sky scrapers are huge, and they literally reach towards the heavens and touch the clouds. On the bottom of the Petronas Towers is a pretty fancy shopping mall while the tops of the towers are filled with offices. On the 41st and 42nd floor, there is a sky bridge which connects the two towers together and which is open for visitors. Years ago, it used to be free entrance but unfortunately now they have started to charge a rather steep 80 Malaysian Ringgits per person.
2. After the visiting the Petronas towers, number two on the list is the historical district of old Kuala Lumpur. Visiting and walking around the area is one of the top things to do in Kuala Lumpur and you shouldn't miss the opportunity. From Merdeka Square to the old railroad station, you'll see some amazing architecture and buildings. Another must visit is the National Mosque, which is known as Masjid Negara. With a capacity of 15,000, this is the central and most visited mosque in the city.
3. The Menara KL Tower, along with the Petronas Towers, is one of the dominating features of Kuala Lumpur's skyline. At 421 meters in height, it's one of the world's tallest communications towers. I was lucky enough to be invited to the annual BASE jumping event which was held at the KL Tower so I had a pass to go to the top for the incredible view and to see the event (http://migrationology.com/2012/10/jordan-kilgore-base-jump-kuala-lumpur/). The KL Tower also offer look out viewpoints and a number of restaurants where you can dine with an incredible view.
4. Number 4 is Little India which is better known as Brickfields. Kuala Lumpur is home to many Indian's many from the south of the country. Brickfields is a popular place to browse, shop for all sorts of Indian products and most importantly to eat at some seriously delicious Indian restaurants. 5. Chinatown, located on Petaling Street, is one of the biggest Kuala Lumpur attractions. It's mostly known for it street shopping and restaurants. You can find all sorts of fake brand names and nearly everything imaginable.
6. Thean Hou Temple is one of the most impressive Daoist temples in Kuala Lumpur. It's free to visit and offers insights into the Hainanese community in the city and there are also great views of the city.
7. Central Market, is a top tourist shopping attraction in Kuala Lumpur. Though many of the products are rather touristy, there are some good things waiting to be found.
8. Within central Kuala Lumpur are the KL Lake Gardens and Bird Park. It makes a great tropical escape to the bustling city life.
9. The Batu Caves, located just outside the central part of the city is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur. The caves and shrines are one of the most sacred Hindu sites outside of India.
10. Chow Kit Market is the central fresh wet market in the city. Everyday thousands of shoppers get their Malaysian food ingredients at this interesting market.
11. Malaysian food is the ultimate attraction to visiting Kuala Lumpur. With a great mixture of local Malay, Chinese, and Indian, there's no shortage of incredible dining that will leave you satisfied and hungry for more! For myself, eating is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur!

6. Thean Hou Temple is one of the most impressive Daoist temples in Kuala Lumpur. It's free to visit and offers insights into the Hainanese community in the city and there are also great views of the city.
7. Central Market, is a top tourist shopping attraction in Kuala Lumpur. Though many of the products are rather touristy, there are some good things waiting to be found.
8. Within central Kuala Lumpur are the KL Lake Gardens and Bird Park. It makes a great tropical escape to the bustling city life.
9. The Batu Caves, located just outside the central part of the city is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur. The caves and shrines are one of the most sacred Hindu sites outside of India.

When I think of the most under-rated countries to visit in SE Asia Malaysia comes to mind. With a rich culture and diversity - unlike any other nation in Southeast Asia - there is something for everyone. Some of my favorite places to visit in Malaysia include Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Penang and the Cameron Highlands. The following is a top attractions travel guide for the best things to do in Malaysia:
1) Few architectural wonders can compete with the Petronas Towers. Equally as impressive by day as they are at night, it is an absolute must landmark to visit in Kuala Lumpur.
2) Night markets in Malaysia are well worth a visit. My personal favorite is the Jonker Street Night Market located in Melaka. On the weekends Jonker street shuts down to traffic and turns into a sea of people and stalls selling everything from trinkets to street food. While we were there we made sure to cool down with Cendol, which is our favorite Malaysian street food snack.
3) The Batu Caves are of my favorite attractions that is absolutely free! Taking the commuter train from KL Sentral we arrived early in the morning before all of the package tourists. The caves themselves, an important Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Murugan, are worth the 272 step climb to the top. You'll notice many of cheeky monkeys along the way.
4) The KL Bird Park is a quirky attraction worth checking out. Its claim to fame is being the largest walk in aviary. Home to thousands of birds you'll be able to spot peacocks, flamingos and many other exotic ones. It's not the cheapest attraction but I would say it it worth the price of admission if you plan to stay for several hours.
5) While you're in Georgetown, Penang consider visiting a recently opened cat cafe! The Purrfect Cat Cafe in George Town is home to some adorable cats just waiting to be petted. For the price of a small meal or drink you'll be able to sit down and play with them.
6) Whenever I head back to Malaysia I can't help but break out in a smile because I know I'm going to get a chance to eat dim sum again. My favorite place is in George Town and along with Chinese tea I can't really control myself.
7) When I mentioned Malaysia was a diverse country, I was referring to the people and cuisine. Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines and having the opportunity to eat a delicious banana leaf thali set is something I wouldn't miss for the world. Loaded up with rice, dal, vegetables, roti, papad, chutney and pickles. Coming in at only 22 Ringgit (for the two of us) it's an inexpensive but delicious meal.
8) Want to visit the biggest Buddhist temple in all of Southeast Asia? Would you be surprised to learn that it is in Malaysia? Kek Lok Si temple, also known as the Temple of Supreme Bliss, is located in Air Itam. The temple combines Mahayana Buddhism and Chinese rituals. To visit take bus 201, 203 or 204 from Komplex Komptar in the heart of George Town, Penang.
9) The Petronas Towers are brilliant by day but 'wow' do they ever shine bright at night. They have really cool light shows that takes place.
10) You can't visit Malaysia without having Roti Canai for breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or a snack. An Indian flat bread, similar to a pancake, it comes in all different sizes, shapes and flavors. Our two favorites being cheese and banana. Dip in curry using either you hands or utensils.
11) While in Malacca it's a great idea to take a Melaka River Cruise at night as the city really lights up at night. You'll notice wonderful old colonial architecture and street art along with traditional homes alongside the Kampong.
12) The Clan Jetties are an important part of George Town's heritage and the last bastions of old Chinese settlements.
13) Georgetown is one of the most hot and humid cities I've ever visited. If you're looking to escape that for a while head over to the Botanical Gardens just outside of the city. In shady conditions you'll have the opportunity to walk around this massive park where you'll surely spot monkeys and other wildlife.
14) When visiting Malacca be sure to check out a Baba-Nyonya restaurant. A mixture of Chinese and Malaysian cuisine at its finest. Some of our favorite dishes included Nyonya Laksa, Rojak and Popiah.
15) Bling. Bling. That's not the sound of a horn but instead the decorations on a rickshaw in George Town. For around 30 to 40 Ringgit you can take a full one hour city tour. It certainly beats walking around in the heat. Highlights for us included going through Little India.

All we ever hear about Penang was EATING! Much to our surprise there was a lot more to do in Penang than just eat until you pop. Walking through the quaint streets of Georgetown was an adventure in itself. Penang is definitely a way different vibe compared to Kuala Lumpur. I got way more of a typical South East Asian city vibe out of Penang, and by that I mean, the smells, dirty streets, critters etc.. However, this didn't detract from an excellent experience of the city.
The first thing we did was rent a motorbike and get a lay of the land. Aside from the beaches (which were nowhere near as nice as Langkawi: watch our video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqjZrlsQzBQ) most action in Penang takes place in and around Georgetown.
Georgetown has famous street art scattered through the city and we spent an entire day on a scavenger hunt to find all these different murals and sculptures. They were really worth spending a day hunting down.
Penang Hill was a great view of the city, but as you can see in the video the tram ride to the top is less than stellar. You are crammed in like sardines and once you get to the top there isn't much going on other than to get an excellent view and pictures of the city of Penang.
Eating.... of course, this is what everyone will tell you to do in Penang and there was no shortage of awesome Indian Food. We ate the same Indian food 5 meals in a row I think. Aside from Indian there are several excellent Dim Sum places to check out. This was one of our first times eating Dim Sum and it was an experience to say the least. Luckily we had a friendly staff member explain how this works. If you don't know, it goes something kind of like this: Sit down at a table in a jam packed open air restaurant and several carts will be wheeled around continuously. As a cart approaches pick your Dim Sum. I lost count of how many different options there were, but our favorites were definitely the shrimp dim sum and the BBQ bun.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the largest building in Merdeka Square, extends for more than 200 metres. This splendid Moorish style building with onion-shaped towers and a central clock tower was designed in 1897 by architect A.C. Norman.
Malaysians dance at every opportunity. Although traditional clothing and dance styles change from region to region, they always convey the same expressions of love, emotion and passion. Traditional festivals also feature dances where the men and women dance together without touching.
The Zoo, Negara provides a good insight into the animal kingdom of Malaysia and South East Asia. The enclosures are extremely spacious. From the ostrich to the imposing Seladang wild buffalo, there are also rare animals such as the orangutan and tapir.
Hardly any other capital city on earth offers as many contrasting sights and multicultural impressions as here. Tradition, history, the past, present and future, each is harmonically united in the pulsating metropolis that is Kuala Lumpur.

We have always heard that Langkawi, Malaysia, is a beautiful island that you must see. So we decided we had to check it out for ourselves. The first night we landed it was raining and dreary, but the next two days were stellar. The beaches are far cleaner than those of Thailand, and the water is a beautiful aqua color.
We rented a motorbike for a day which was ridiculously easy to rent. We were in and out of the shop in less that 5 minutes, and the cost was 30 Ringgit or about $9USD. We drove the entire island which was beautiful. Renting a motorbike allowed us to get to the Jetty, The Worlds Steepest Cable Car as well as an Arabian Horse Stud Farm. We highly recommend having your own transportation anywhere you're traveling because it opens up so many more doors.
The Worlds Steepest Cable car was just as thrilling as you would imagine. If you are afraid of Heights, this is definitely going to test your nerves.

We first venture off to marvel at the magnificent Petronas Towers. These otherworldly towers are the most impressive buildings I've ever seen in my entire life. They don't look like they belong on planet earth. Equally as impressive during the day as they are at night, I recommend visiting the towers frequently and scouting out various vantage points to take photos.
Next we tour around the Independence Square (Merdeka Square) located nearby Chinatown. The impressive architecture and enormous flag are standout features. If you come early enough you can beat the tourist buses and at night the buildings really shine.
No trip to Kuala Lumpur would be complete without hopping on and off the LRT sky train. At night we took a ride and captured some high speed footage. You get a glimpse of the Petronas Towers before we head into the tunnels.
Just 13 km north of KL is a special Hindu Shrine called the Batu Caves. Dedicated to Lord Murugan it's a wonderful free attraction worth exploring. While visiting you'll notice your share of cheeky monkeys roaming about.
Finally for breakfast, lunch or dinner consider having roti canai (flat bread) along with curry. My personal favorite is banana roti along with watermelon juice.

In our latest travel video we sit down for a cup of tea and noodles at one of favorite restaurants in the Chinatown district of Kuala Lumpur to discuss and review our one month experience of traveling in Malaysia covering Malacca, Penang, the Cameron Highlands and Kuala Lumpur. We start off by discussing our favorite destinations, food and modes of transportation which are respectively Malacca, dim sum and train rides. We indicate Chinatown as being a great budget option for accommodations in Kuala Lumpur and break down our daily budget which is roughly 150 ringgit per day for the two of us combined while offering some budget travel tips, such as eating street food (Cendol and others).
Not heading to some of the stellar beaches on offer was one of our greatest regrets. With just a short time left in Malaysia we're hanging out and getting work done on our sites before we fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to being a new chapter in our backpacking adventures.
Many first travelers to Malaysia land in the capital KL. Where would you recommend they stay for budget options in the city? I think most of the budget options are in Chinatown, so I would suggest finding a hostel in that area. We've been paying about 40 Ringgit, which is just over $10 USD for two people and we've been getting a pretty decent space with wifi. That is my tip - go to Chinatown.
Your favorite way to travel? That is again a very easy one. Taking the train was by far my preferred method of transportation while in Malaysia. The only actual train journey we took was from KL to Butterworth up in the north but it was just a lovely gorgeous journey. We were passing through all kinds of diverse scenery and the seats were comfortable. The train wasn't crowded and it was almost a bit like a family atmosphere. We had little kids running up and playing with us. It was just an awesome journey and we saw scenery we wouldn't have otherwise seen had we of taken the bus.
So for those looking to save a bit of money with their food while in Malaysia what do you recommend? I would recommend eating lots of street food. One of our favorite dishes of mine - that I've tried - is called Cendol. It is basically a really refreshing dessert. You get a bowl of shaved ice and they pour coconut milk and palm sugar over top and it also has kidney beans, rice but it was very refreshing. How much was that? I think it was less than 3 Ringgit wasn't it? In other words, less than $1 USD for a refreshing treat. You can find that in restaurants and you can also find that just right out on the street with people making it with special kinds of ice machines - shaved ice machines. Exactly!
So we've been traveling here for a month. What would you say is a good monthly budget to have? Well, Malaysia is one of the more expensive SE Asian countries; however, the budget we had set for ourselves we haven't been spending on a daily basis. We had given ourselves a budget of a hundred and fifty Ringgit per day, which is roughly $50 USD and we haven't come close to spending that. Basically, how we were going to divide that is 50 Ringgit for accommodation, 50 for food expenses and 50 for activities. What we've been finding is that we haven't been spending it so much on the activities. We've been doing a lot of free things around where ever we've been visiting. I would say our roughly daily expenditure is maybe more like 110 or 120 Ringgit. What this has allowed us to get typically is our own private room with air conditioning most of the time, a fan and typically a shared bathroom. It is not posh accommodations by any stretch but comfortable enough. Everywhere we've gone we've had wifi - some has been excellent and some has been not so good. For food typically we've been having (eating) local style restaurants. Restaurants that are frequented mostly by locals and we've been eating a lot of street food. We've been eating really well since we've been coming here.

In our latest travel video we sit down for a cup of tea and noodles at one of favorite restaurants in the Chinatown district of Kuala Lumpur to discuss and review our one month experience of traveling in Malaysia covering Malacca, Penang, the Cameron Highlands and Kuala Lumpur. We start off by discussing our favorite destinations, food and modes of transportation which are respectively Malacca, dim sum and train rides. We indicate Chinatown as being a great budget option for accommodations in Kuala Lumpur and break down our daily budget which is roughly 150 ringgit per day for the two of us combined while offering some budget travel tips, such as eating street food (Cendol and others).
Not heading to some of the stellar beaches on offer was one of our greatest regrets. With just a short time left in Malaysia we're hanging out and getting work done on our sites before we fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to being a new chapter in our backpacking adventures.
Many first travelers to Malaysia land in the capital KL. Where would you recommend they stay for budget options in the city? I think most of the budget options are in Chinatown, so I would suggest finding a hostel in that area. We've been paying about 40 Ringgit, which is just over $10 USD for two people and we've been getting a pretty decent space with wifi. That is my tip - go to Chinatown.

I am almost hesitant to tell you about it, as I don't want tourism to spoil what we have experienced. At the same time I wish you could all see this place. I know I have more of the world to see, but Langkawi Malaysia ranks very high for us. Come with us as we show you our guide to Langkawi, so you can see what it has to offer with kids.
We experienced rainforests, mangroves, wildlife, beaches, and even learned about their culture and legends. It was absolutely majestic watching eagles soar above us. That would be a rare sighting in the USA and they were plentiful while in Langkawi.

This is a Malacca travel video showcasing our favorite things to do along with what we consider to be the top attractions in Melaka, Malaysia. We start off by showing you a clip of a time lapse sequence of the Malacca River where you'll notice a tour boat speeding along. Next we visit the bustling Jonker Street Walk (Jonker Street Night Market) to sample street food and do a little shopping. You'll notice how hectic and busy it gets along this street packed with tourists and locals alike along Jalan Hang Jebat. Afterwards we take you on a bicycle tour around the city where stop off at the church ruins. Our next activity is a night boat ride cruise along the Melacca River. One of our favorite activities was taking a rickshaw tour around the city. Feeling the heat we cool down with a delicious bowl of refreshing cendol. We take time to visit the many temples located around Chinatown. We satisfy our tastes buds by eating Peranakan cuisine which is also known as Baba Nyonya food including popiah, rojak and laksa. Next we explore the Chinatown area of Melaka enjoying many of the historic crumbling colonial mansions. After we go exploring and walking along the Melaka River enjoying the graffiti and murals we notice along the walls. We finish off with some time lapse sequences that includes shots of markets, the Dutch quarter and a few others spots. Overall, these are the activities we recommend others check out when they're touring around Malacca.

Malacca City is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Malacca. The Seri Negeri, the State Administrative and Development Centre which houses the Chief Minister's Office, the State Secretary's Office and the Legislative Assembly Hall is located in Malacca City. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with George Town of Penang on 7 July 2008. Most tourist attractions are concentrated in its small city centre which encompasses Jonker Walk which houses Malacca's traditional Chinatown that exhibits Peranakan architecture. A Famosa Fort, St. Paul Hill are among the tourist attractions located in the Bandar Hilir, old city area.
The older part of the city proper has, in addition to the old palace and the large buildings left by the Europeans, many private houses and shops from nearly a century or more ago, put up by Chinese traders. Many of these have beautiful details such as moulded porcelain tiles and painted plaster reliefs on the front. Unfortunately, they tend to be not well preserved and the city government decided to paint all the buildings

A strong earthquake has struck Myanmar, the US Geological Survey reports, with shaking felt across the region, BBC News reports.The 6.9 magnitude quake took place at a depth of around 140 kilometers (87 miles), northwest of Mandalay.
