Marty Smith (born November 26, 1956) is an American former professional motocross racer. He won three AMA National Motocross championships, all aboard Hondas, and was runner-up twice. With his long hair and Southern California surfer looks, he was a popular figure among race fans.
Born in San Diego, California, Smith first appeared onto the motocross scene by winning the inaugural AMA 125cc National Motocross Championship in 1974 and followed that up with another 125cc title in 1975. That same year, he won the 1975 125cc U.S. Grand Prix of Motocross, and finished second in the 250cc AMA Supercross series. Though he didn’t win a title in 1976, he again won the 125cc U.S. Grand Prix of Motocross and placed third in the 125cc World Championship, the highest finish for an American in the world championships at the time. Smith was runner-up to Bob Hannah in the 1976 125cc national championship. In 1977, Smith recorded his final AMA title, defeating his long-time rival Bob Hannah in the last race of the season to win the 500cc AMA National Motocross Championship. A serious crash at the Houston Supercross in 1978 left Smith with a broken hip. He finished third in the 500cc National Motocross Championship that year, but never recaptured his championship speed. He raced for Honda for one more year before switching to Suzuki for the 1980 and 1981 seasons. He retired at the end of the 1981 season.

On February 18, 2001, during the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, Earnhardt died at the age of 49 when he sustained a fatal basilar skull fracture after crashing in the race's final lap. He has been inducted into numerous halls of fame, including the inaugural class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2010.

Stephen Bayles is a newer driver in our Texas Lone Star Drift Series, put on by Fabricatedmotorsports.com. I put this video together to introduce him to the general public, and show some of the preparation it takes to get a car prepped for competition. Autocomp was awesome enough to let us use their space to put a cage in Stephens car, and Aaren Smith was awesome enough to do most of the work. While Autocomp didn't exactly build this cage, it was just done over there out back and off the clock, at a certain point Marty ( the shop owner ) took pity on us and welded the entire thing up. The significance of that is the welding portion of the cage is a few notches, pun intended, above the rest of the build quality LOL. It wasn't enough he was letting us use his shop space to put something...
