- In less than 4 minutes you'll learn:
- What is Zinc Supplements?
- Zinc is a naturally occurring mineral. It is called an "essential trace element" because very small amounts of zinc are necessary for human health.
- Zinc helps the immune system fight off bacteria and viruses, is important for wound healing, blood clotting, thyroid function, and is important for proper senses of taste and smell. The body also needs zinc to make proteins and DNA, the genetic materials in cells.
- Since the human body does not store excess zinc, it must be consumed regularly as part of the diet. Common dietary sources of zinc include red meat, poultry, and fish.
- Zinc deficiency is characterized by growth retardation, loss of appetite, and impaired immune function. In more severe cases, zinc deficiency causes hair loss, diarrhea, delayed sexual maturation, impotence, hypogonadism in males, and eye and skin lesions. Weight loss, delayed healing of wounds, taste abnormalities, and mental lethargy can also occur

Let’s talk about zinc. Zinc is involved in 300 different enzymes and over 1000 factors related to DNA.
Zinc is involved in your sleep cycles, cognitive function, and making neurotransmitters. Having low zinc increases your risk of diabetes.
Zinc also makes up an important group of antioxidants involved with your brain, heart, and muscles. It even helps reduce oxidative stress involved with the mitochondria.
Instead of masking a symptom related to zinc deficiency or any other health issue, it's crucial to get to the deeper problem to help prevent further concerns. Learning how to support a healthy body and avoid health issues or recognize the early stages of one is much more simple than trying to fight a health problem.
Side effects of advanced zinc deficiency can include:
• Loss of appetite
• Necrosis
• Ulcers
• Hypogonadism
• Low testosterone
• Thymus atrophy
• High cortisol
• Muscle loss
The organ that is most affected by zinc deficiency is the pancreas. The most common early sign of zinc deficiency is foul-smelling stool that floats.
Other early signs of zinc deficiency include:
• Shortness of breath upon exertion
• Cramping
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Bloating
Top causes of zinc deficiency:
• Lack of zinc in the diet
• Malabsorption
• Inflammation in the gut
• Phytates or phytic acid (grains)
• Consuming sugar
• Diabetes
• Stress
• Drinking alcohol
• Infection
Foods rich in zinc:
1. Oysters
2. Crab
3. Other shellfish
4. Meats
5. Fish
6. Nuts

Symptoms of zinc deficiency:
• Loss of taste or smell
• Low testosterone
• Diarrhea
• Alopecia
• Inflammatory skin problems
• Vision problems
• Ulcers
• Inflammation
• Poor immunity
• Thymus atrophy
Foods rich in zinc:

• Red meat
Causes of a zinc deficiency:
• Not consuming foods high in zinc
• Consuming phytates (in grains and legumes)
• Pregnancy
• Sickle cell anemia

1:13 Zinc deficiency symptoms
3:20 Foods high in zinc
3:45 Zinc deficiency causes
5:30 Discover the important connection between magnesium and vitamin D
Today, we’re going to talk about the fascinating connection between vitamin D and zinc.
Many people don’t realize that zinc is vital to allow vitamin D to work in the body. If you’re deficient in zinc, the vitamin D receptor won’t accept vitamin D. On the flip side, vitamin D allows zinc to be transported through the body.
Symptoms of zinc deficiency:
• Loss of taste or smell
• Low testosterone
• Diarrhea
• Alopecia
• Inflammatory skin problems
• Vision problems
• Ulcers
• Inflammation
• Poor immunity
• Thymus atrophy
Foods rich in zinc:
• Oysters
• Lobster
• Shrimp
• Liver
• Red meat
Causes of a zinc deficiency:
• Not consuming foods high in zinc
• Consuming phytates (in grains and legumes)
• Pregnancy
• Sickle cell anemia

Today I want to cover some lesser-known symptoms of zinc deficiency.
Zinc is an important trace mineral. You don’t need a lot of zinc, but if you’re missing it, you could experience a lot of health concerns.
Commonly known symptoms of zinc deficiency:
• Loss of smell
• Dwarfism
• Susceptibility to infection
• Hair loss or thinning hair
• Diarrhea
• Dermatitis
• Mental irritability or fatigue
Lesser-known symptoms of zinc deficiency:
1. Lack of taste (bland, metallic, or bitter-tasting food)
2. Inability to detect flavors
3. Hypogonadism
4. Impaired hippocampus (memory problems, inability to learn, and problems with spatial location)
5. Infected nail beds, weak nails, white spots or white lines on the nails
6. Delayed healing
7. Night blindness
The top cause of zinc deficiency is a diet high in refined carbohydrates. Learn more about the benefits of a low-carb diet in my other videos.
