Student financial aid in the United States is funding that is intended to help students pay tuition, fees, living expenses (room and board, if living in college housing), transportation, books, and supplies for study at a post-secondary educational institution: a professional school, community college, four-year college, or university. General governmental funding in the form of subsidies for public education (not designated for an individual student) is not considered to be financial aid. Financial aid refers to awards to specific individual students. A scholarship is sometimes used as a synonym for a financial aid award, although grants and student loans are also major components of financial aid packages from students' intended colleges.

Before you fill out your FAFSA watch this video to learn how to create an FSA ID―a username and password― that replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN. You will need an FSA ID to electronically sign and submit your FAFSA, as well as to make any needed corrections later. And if you are a dependent student, your parent will need his or her own FSA ID, too. Do not allow someone to create your FSA ID for you, and you should not create one for someone else. Not even for a family member. This can cause problems with your financial aid down the road. Elizabeth Warren drills Chief Business Officer For Federal Student Aid Student Loans William Leith for rewarding Student loan servicers for providing bad service. Whenever average Americans rip off insurance companies, it generally gets reported widely. Hard working honest Americans are usually appalled. Most importantly, the perpetrators of the crime are generally sent to jail. After-all, if there is no penalty for cheating, said cheating will continue and grow. “Let me get this straight: You break the law. You don’t follow the rules. You treat the borrowers badly,” Warren said of the loan servicers. “And you all just renegotiated the contracts to make sure that across the portfolio [loan servicers] are going to make a little more money if nothing changes?” http://egbertowillies.com...

REXBURG — Many Brigham Young University-Idaho students are experiencing an unusual delay in receiving their federal loans and they say they can’t pay rent, buy books or even purchase groceries. The university says more than 2,000 students are still waiting to receive loan money from their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. “For me it’s really vital,” BYU-Idaho student Samantha Irons says. “My loans go mostly towards paying my summer rent and then providing food. But I still haven’t been able to pay my rent and it’s been kind of difficult.” Typically funds are dispersed as soon as the first day of school but this year, students received a notice before school started that there could be problems with Pell grants, scholarships, and loans because of new software. “We have...

October 1 marks the beginning of a new chapter in college financial aid: Early FAFSA is here. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the 2017-18 academic year is available today, officially kicking off the financial aid season a whole three months earlier than in the past. The FAFSA is the gatekeeper to billions of dollars that the federal government gives out each year in loans, scholarships, and grants to help families pay for college. Aside from the earlier timing, parents may not notice much difference this year. But for financial aid officers at thousands of two- and four-year colleges around the country, this is the biggest change to the annual aid-package process in decades. The new timeline and the fact that the government is allowing families to use older tax informat...

Federal aid, federal aid, we hear it all the time.
But it's not really federal aid
because the money is yours and mine.
The money is yours and mine.
I read in the papers, in real big print,
about a sugar coated speech, made by our president.
With federal aid he thinks he'll win our trust.
But federal aid, hell, the money belongs to us.
He puts taxes on this, and taxes on that,
just any kind of tax to keep the government fat.
He says he's gonna give us federal aid or bust.
But federal aid, hell, the money belongs to us.
Federal aid, federal aid, we hear it all the time.
But it's not really federal aid
because the money is yours and mine.
The money is yours and mine.
He started a new program, the anti-poverty school.
I think it's a good idea, nobody wants to be a fool.
Now he says he's running short of funds, and that ain't
no joke.
But it ain't the government that's hurtin', it's us
that's going broke.
Now if we could just keep most of the money we've made,
there wouldn't be much reason to have federal aid.
Now I believe in helping the poor, I think it's a must.
when it's not federal aid, hell, the money belongs to
Federal aid, federal aid, we hear it all the time.
But it's not really federal aid
because the money is yours and mine.
The money is yours and mine.
Now why should the president take all the credit,
when the money we donate is what makes up his debit?
Each time a disaster strikes our great land,
federal aid takes the credit for lending a hand.
Now, I'd like to think that my dollar helped out,
and so would everyone else, without any dobut.
Cause it's really our money we place in their trust.
So federsl aid, hell, the money belongs to us.
Federal aid, federal aid, we hear it all the time.
But it's not really federal aid
because the money is yours and mine.
The money is yours and mine.
The money is yours and mine.
The money is yours and mine.
