Kobe beef (神戸ビーフ, Kōbe bīfu) (KO-BEH) refers to beef from the Tajima strain of Wagyu cattle, raised in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture according to rules as set out by the Kobe Beef Marketing and Distribution Promotion Association. The meat is a delicacy renowned for its flavor, tenderness, and fatty, well-marbled texture. Kobe beef can be prepared as steak, sukiyaki, shabu shabu, sashimi, and teppanyaki.
Kobe beef is also called Kobe niku (神戸肉, "Kobe meat"), Kobe-gyu (神戸牛) or Kobe-ushi (神戸牛, "Kobe cattle") in Japanese.
Cattle were introduced in Japan in the second century as work animals used for rice cultivation. Because of Japan's "difficult terrain and sparse arable land" due in part to its mountainous topography, cattle were bred in small, isolated regions, yielding herds with unique qualities in their meat.
After the Meiji Restoration, beef consumption remained low, but it has steadily increased since the end of World War II. Kobe beef grew in popularity and extended its global reach in the 1980s and 1990s.
Kobe (神戸市, Kōbe-shi, Japanese pronunciation: [koːꜜbe]) is the sixth-largest city in Japan and is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture. It is located on the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bay and about 30 km (19 mi) west of Osaka. With a population around 1.5 million, the city is part of the Keihanshin metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto.
The earliest written records regarding the region come from the Nihon Shoki, which describes the founding of the Ikuta Shrine by Empress Jingū in AD 201. For most of its history, the area was never a single political entity, even during the Tokugawa Period, when the port was controlled directly by the Tokugawa Shogunate. Kobe did not exist in its current form until its founding in 1889. Its name comes from "kanbe" (神戸), an archaic title for supporters of the city's Ikuta Shrine. Kobe became one of Japan's 17 designated cities in 1956.
Kobe was one of the cities to open for trade with the West following the 1853 end of the policy of seclusion and has since been known as a cosmopolitan port city. While the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake diminished much of Kobe's prominence as a port city, it remains Japan's fourth busiest container port. Companies headquartered in Kobe include ASICS, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and Kobe Steel, as well as over 100 international corporations with Asian or Japanese headquarters in the city such as Eli Lilly and Company, Procter & Gamble, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Nestlé. The city is the point of origin and namesake of Kobe beef, as well as the site of one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts, Arima Onsen.
Beef is the culinary name for meat from bovines, especially cattle. Beef can be harvested from bulls, heifers or steers. Its acceptability as a food source varies in different parts of the world.
Beef muscle meat can be cut into roasts, short ribs or steak (filet mignon, sirloin steak, rump steak, rib steak, rib eye steak, hanger steak, etc.). Some cuts are processed (corned beef or beef jerky), and trimmings, usually mixed with meat from older, leaner cattle, are ground, minced or used in sausages. The blood is used in some varieties of blood sausage. Other parts that are eaten include the oxtail, liver, tongue, tripe from the reticulum or rumen, glands (particularly the pancreas and thymus, referred to as sweetbread), the heart, the brain (although forbidden where there is a danger of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, BSE), the kidneys, and the tender testicles of the bull (known in the United States as calf fries, prairie oysters, or Rocky Mountain oysters). Some intestines are cooked and eaten as-is, but are more often cleaned and used as natural sausage casings. The bones are used for making beef stock.
The fish market on the coast in the western part of Nouakchott, Mauritania is a bustling centre. It is described by Lonely Planet as "incredibly lively and extremely colorful" and having "teams of men, mostly Wolof and Fula, dragging in heavy hand-knotted fishing nets and small boys hurrying back and forth with trays of fish".

We were in Japan last month, and spent some time in Kobe, where we had for the first time in our lives, Kobe beef. And, supposedly, you've probably never had Kobe beef before, because it's rarely exported in the US, never in Europe. Japanese Kobe beef is considered the tastiest beef money can buy: a single steak can cost as much as $600. But an INSIDE EDITION investigation found that while some menus advertise Kobe beef, they are actually serving up meat of lesser value. Kobe beef, which has a marbled appearance, comes from pure-bred cattle raised on a special diet in Japan. The meat can cost $55 dollars an ounce, and only 400 pounds get shipped to in the U.S. each month, according to Kobe beef distributor Brent Nakama.
Don Burke revisits the Tenryuji Temple and its magnificent gardens, then tries Kobe beef, the most expensive steak in the world. Find the full fact sheet here: http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/factsheets/Burkes-Backyard-Overseas/Wagyu-Cattle-Japan/2615
Our real Kobe beef dinner prepared in front of us in an authentic teppanyaki style at Steak Land in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan on our recent vacation with SuperValue Tours. No frills or corny performances (onion volcano, ect), just food prepared in front of your eyes to witness first hand how fresh the ingredients are. Hands down the most flavorful, fattiest beef I have ever eaten (Just the beef itself without seasonings, marinades, ect).
While hitchhiking, my ride (Ishii-san) brought to a farm where he knew the CEO. TAJIMA is home to all Kuro Wagyu and Mikata Farm is one of the places where some of Kobe beef is selected. Here I got a chance to see the wagyu's living conditions and meet some of the babies, too. Amazing and totally unexpected experience in Hyogo prefecture. Kool Savas feat. Azad - Gib Auf
1.Strophe (Kool Savas)
Ihr müsst weiter reden und weiter haten
Doch wenn ihr meint wir können nix liegt ihr weit daneben
Ich kann leider keine Props an Biter geben
Du willst flown doch ich erledige dich live mal eben
Du hast kein Grund, mich zu fronten, also chill halt dein Mund
Battletime sehr gut, meldet euch,
nehmt Haltung an, salutiert, steht stramm,
